  • Publication number: 20040109289
Abstract: A heat sink mainly comprises a plurality of fin-pieces, at least a heat-conductive duct, and a heat-conductive block, in which each fin-piece is perforated to form two through holes or more. When assembling the heat sink, first the fin-pieces are stacked one on another to form a heat-sink base, then the front end of the heat-conductive duct is sintered or tightly fixed in the through holes and the rear end is sintered or tightly fixed in the heat-conductive block to complete the construction. The cooling fan is laid in the manner that its axial direction is parallel to the normal of the fin-pieces rested on the heat-sink base, such that the cooling fan can blow air directly into the heat-sink base.

  • Publication number: 20040056872
Abstract: An apparatus for image rotation. The apparatus includes a first memory, a frame buffer, a rendering module, and a rotation module. The rendering module renders a second image according to second image data, and stores the second image in the first memory. The rotation module detects a variation object changed between the first image and the second image, rotates the variation object as a rotation object, and replaces a partial image of the first rotation image in the frame buffer corresponding to the position of the variation object in the second image with the rotation object.

  • Patent number: 6646385
Abstract: A spiral-like multi-turn coil excites a plasma for treating a workpiece in a vacuum plasma processor. In one embodiment two of the turns have a discontinuity. Each discontinuity has a capacitor connected across it. An RF source drives the coil via a matching network, an inductor connected to one coil excitation terminal and a capacitor connected to another coil excitation terminal. The impedances of the inductors and the capacitors at the RF source frequency and the discontinuity locations are such as to cause a standing wave voltage of the coil to have (1) equal and opposite values at the coil terminals, (2) sudden amplitude and slope changes, slope reversals and polarity reversals at each of the discontinuities, and (3) three gradual standing wave voltage polarity reversals, spaced from each other by 120°. Two of the gradual polarity reversals are azimuthally aligned with the discontinuities. In a second embodiment, one turn has a discontinuity having a series capacitor connected across it.

  • Publication number: 20030208738
Abstract: A design method for full chip element on the memory, the method splits the elements in the Hard macro into the elements with transistor level for the automation design. In the situation when there are more than 2 high voltage circuits, the method provides multiple bypass circuits as the V SS and V DD, wherein the V SS and V DD are two powers that can be recognized by the software. The multiple high voltage circuits are used as the signal circuits for routing, so that the objective of running the auto-routing on all elements in the Hard macro can be achieved. The schematic design in the Hard macro is subsequently integrated into the other part to accomplish the full chip auto placement and routing.

  • Patent number: 6618781
Abstract: This invention is about a computer add-on card that is capable of transferring MPEG-2 Transport Stream file from a computer storage (hard disk, DVD-ROM, etc.) to an external equipment such as: Digital TV settop box, modulator, etc. Besides handling PCI protocol communication, this add-on card also controls MPEG-2 Transport Stream generation, and signal format and interface conversion. To incorporate various output signal formats and interfaces, a daughter board is implemented as the output signal format and interface converter part. Using this daughter board, user can have various different Digital TV output signals without the need of modifying the application program.

  • Publication number: 20030163550
Abstract: An opportunistic directory cache and method of usage reduce the number of calls between a client and server for file information, reducing the wastage of network resources and server resources. The expirable directory cache can be refreshed any time an appropriate directory enumeration call is made to the server, and is capable of being partially rather than completely invalidated in response to an indication that the file information of a file listed in the cache has or will change. If the affected file is identifiable, the entry in the cache for that file is invalidated, i.e. it is no longer useful for serving file information. If the affected file is not identifiable, then a first character projection of the file name is invalidated in the cache. In this manner, the directory cache is maintained with minimum resources and is persisted to the greatest extent possible, increasing its likelihood of usefulness.

  • Publication number: 20030154431
Abstract: A method for recovering from malfunctions in a primary agent module of a modular network device. The primary agent module is installed in a modular network device having a number of network interface modules housed in a chassis. A backup agent module is installed in the chassis when the modular network device is powered on. The backup agent module determines if the primary agent module has been installed when three dedicated signals of the primary agent module are asserted. The network device then synchronizes all configuration information of the network interface modules from the primary to the backup agent module. The backup agent module detects that the primary agent module has failed if it cannot receive a message sent from the primary agent module within a predetermined time interval. As a result, the modular network device is rebooted and the backup agent module becomes the primary agent module.

  • Patent number: 6555828
Abstract: An at-wavelength system for extreme ultraviolet lithography mask blank defect detection is provided. When a focused beam of wavelength 13 nm is incident on a defective region of a mask blank, three possible phenomena can occur. The defect will induce an intensity reduction in the specularly reflected beam, scatter incoming photons into an off-specular direction, and change the amplitude and phase of the electric field at the surface which can be monitored through the change in the photoemission current. The magnitude of these changes will depend on the incident beam size, and the nature, extent and size of the defect. Inspection of the mask blank is performed by scanning the mask blank with 13 nm light focused to a spot a few &mgr;m in diameter, while measuring the reflected beam intensity (bright field detection), the scattered beam intensity (dark-field detection) and/or the change in the photoemission current.

  • Publication number: 20030046366
Abstract: Access to WebDAV (Distributed Authoring and Versioning) servers is provided in a manner that is essentially transparent to applications. A WebDAV redirector and related components support file system I/O requests and network requests directed to WebDAV servers identified by URI (Universal Resource Identifier) names, or by a drive may be mapped to a WebDAV share. An application's create or open I/O requests directed to a WebDAV server are detected, and result in a local copy of the file being downloaded and cached for local access. When closed, the local file is uploaded to the WebDAV server. Network-related requests such as for browsing that are directed to a WebDAV server are also handled transparently. WebDAV files may be locally encrypted and decrypted at the file system level, transparent to applications and the WebDAV server, via an encrypting file system that performs local encryption and decryption at the local file system level.

  • Publication number: 20030009480
Abstract: A method of purging cached open files from a client-side delayed close list on a remote file system. The remote file system stores a unique file identifier for each cached open file which is independent of the cached file's namespace. In response to a delete or rename command of a remote target file, the remote file system obtains a target file identifier from the target file's server. The remote file system then compares the target file identifier with each of the cached file's unique file identifier. If a cached file's unique file identifier matches the target file identifier, the cached file is purged from the delayed close list.

  • Patent number: 6487040
Abstract: A magnetic head includes first and second pole tips separated by a nonmagnetic gap layer. The right side walls of the first and second pole tips are vertically aligned. Similarly, the left side walls of the first and second pole tips are vertically aligned. The side fringing flux is substantially reduced resulting in a magnetic head capable of writing data tracks with well defined boundaries. The fabrication of the magnetic head begins with forming a stack of layers on a substrate. The stack of layers includes a nonmagnetic layer sandwiched between the first pole tip layer and a sacrificial layer which is preferably made of a metal. A protective layer, such as alumina, is then deposited over and around the stack of layers. After planarization and ion milling, the sacrificial layer is exposed. The sacrificial layer is then etched away leaving a volume of space in the protective layer and above the gap layer. An inductive coil with associated dielectric layers are then deposited above the first pole layer.
