    Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided for packet relaying. The embodiments enable reduced network traffic. In an embodiment, a method in a wireless network component for packet relaying includes transmitting a first data packet comprising data to a relay station, wherein the first data packet comprises an identification (ID) of the target wireless device wherein the data packet is intended for a target wireless device, wherein the relay station is configured to forward the data in the first data packet to the target wireless device without sending an acknowledgement back to the wireless network component; receiving a second data packet transmitted by the relay station; and determining whether a receiver ID of the second data packet corresponds to the target wireless device, wherein the wireless network component considers the transmission successful if the receiver ID of the second data packet corresponds to the target wireless device.

    Abstract: A method for operating a first station configured to transmit data includes transmitting during a paging window, a first frame to page a second station, the first frame including an identifier associated with the second station, and generating a second frame including first timing information for a first time period to be subscribed by the first station for transmitting data to the second station, the first time period occurring after the paging window. When a third frame is received after a pre-specified short interval after transmitting the first frame, the third frame acknowledging the first frame, the method includes transmitting the second frame after the pre-specified short interval after receiving the third frame, and transmitting the data during the first time period.

    Abstract: A method for collision detection by a transmission device (TD) includes identifying one or more time periods of a signal generated by the TD, the one or more time periods corresponding to periods during which the TD will not transmit energy on a shared channel, and transmitting a subset of the signal, wherein while a current time is within one of the one or more time periods, transmitting the subset of the signal comprises, turning off a transmitter of the TD at a beginning of the time period, detecting energy received on the shared channel during a portion of the time period, turning on the transmitter of the TD before an end of the time period, and determining that the detected energy meets a collision threshold, and based thereon, determining that there is a transmission collision.

The AP transmits a periodic scheduling indicator, a compression indicator and scheduling information to a station. The periodic scheduling indicator indicates whether a periodic transmission is scheduled for a station, and wherein the compression indicator indicates whether the scheduling information for the station is compressed scheduling information. The station determines full scheduling information in accordance with the periodic scheduling indicator, the compression indicator and the scheduling information. Then, the station transmits a packet in accordance with the full scheduling information to the AP. Reduction in signaling overhead is achieved.
