  • Patent number: 7284723
Abstract: In a recording tape cartridge, a reel has a reel hub around which a magnetic tape is wound. An annular reel gear is formed at an outer surface of a bottom portion of the reel hub. Rotation of the reel is impeded by a braking member engaging with an engaging gear formed at an inner surface of the bottom portion. When a clutch member is pressed by a rotating shaft of a drive device, the clutch member is guided by rotation restricting ribs which are engaged with rotation restricting grooves such that relative rotation is impossible, and the clutch member moves in an axial direction of the reel and cancels engagement of the braking member with the engaging gear. A press operation surface and the rotation restricting grooves are positioned further toward a radial direction inner side than the reel gear.

  • Patent number: 7284724
Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge is equipped with a cartridge, a single tape reel, a tape leader pin, and a U-shaped clip. The cartridge case is formed by fastening upper and lower cases of synthetic resin together and has a tape leader opening formed in the upper and lower side walls of the upper and lower cases. The single tape reel has magnetic tape wound thereon and is rotatably housed within the cartridge case. The tape leader pin is firmly attached to a leading end of the magnetic tape, and is detachably held in an upright state between the upper and lower cases so that it faces the tape leader opening. The U-shaped clip is attached to walls near the tape leader opening to fasten the upper and lower cases together, whereby the fastening strength of the upper and lower cases is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 7155814
Abstract: A method of assembling a magnetic tape cartridge where an opening, through which a magnetic tape is drawn out, is provided in part of a sidewall of a cartridge case across a lower half and an upper half of the cartridge case. A slide door that opens and closes the opening is mounted between guide portions provided in the cartridge lower and upper halves, while stressing the slide door with a spring member toward a position in which the opening is closed. During mounting, the slide door is stressed with the spring member toward the position in which the opening is closed by fitting a lower edge of the slide door into the guide portion of the lower half A mounting position of the slide door is retained by holding an end of the slide door facing a direction in which the slide door moves to close the opening.

  • Publication number: 20060273487
Abstract: ingle reel with magnetic tape wound thereon is housed in a case. A restraining member, for restricting rotation of the reel by moving toward or away from the reel, is urged in a restraining direction by an urging member. The pushing-up portions of a releasing member are inserted into the through holes bored in the reel gear of the reel 2 so that the lower ends can abut a driving gear. The releasing member moves the restraining member in a releasing direction by moving according to the chucking operation of drive-side rotation drive. A method for manufacturing the reel includes molding a metal reel plate on a bottom surface thereof by insert molding by use of a metal mold in which a hold member for holding an inner peripheral surface of the reel plate is disposed on an outer periphery of a gate.

The releasing member moves the restraining member in a releasing direction by moving according to the chucking operation of drive-side rotation drive means. In this manner, reel-rotation restraining means allows rotation of the reel when being used and restricts the rotation when not being used. In this construction, each of the through holes is bored between the tooth edges of the reel gear so that the releasing member can perform a reliable releasing operation.

  • Patent number: 7093354
Abstract: A magnetic tape cartridge is provided, in which the mating of the lower half and the upper half can be easily performed and which is applicable to automated assembly, when the magnetic tape cartridge having a sliding door is assembled. The rib projects from the upper section of the first guide wall in the direction of the opposite second guide wall. On the other hand, the groove, which faces the rib, is carved on the inner side surface of the sliding door. The rib engages with the groove, thereby restricting the vertical displacement of the sliding door. Also, the engagement of the rib and the groove guides the sliding door in the guide channel freely.
