  • Patent number: 5067562
Abstract: In a heat exchanger having a plurality of fins mounted on an outer surface of a tube which is for conducting a fluid therethrough, the fins are different in fin thickness to make a first and a second fin set portion. Each of the fins of the first fin set portion has a comparatively small thickness. Each of the fins of the second fin set portion has a comparatively large thickness. The heat exchanger is placed in another fluid so that a comparatively high flow energy portion of the other fluid flows into the first fin set portion while another comparatively low flow energy portion of the other fluid flows into the second fin set portion.

  • Patent number: 4926168
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device containing an X-Y matrix type liquid crystal display panel in which these are M (M>1) signal electrodes and N (N>1) scanning electrodes are arranged in a matrix. The liquid crystral display device utilizes a device which reverses the polarity of the voltage waveform applied to the liquid crystal display panel at intervals of n (1<n<N) horizontal scanning periods. The polarity reversing timing of this waveform is set randomly for a certain predetermined number of frames, for example, every two frames. The random setting of the polarity reversing timing substantially eliminates crosstalk and linear display irregularity. The polarity reversing timing is realized by a random number generator in a reversing circuit which can be attached to a conventional liquid crystal display device such that this reversing circuit can randomly reverse the conventional polarity reversal signal.

  • Patent number: 4801933
Abstract: A multiplex-driven liquid crystal X-Y matrix display in which the electrodes are divided into several blocks and a driving voltage is independently applied to each of the blocks. Each driving voltage has a magnitude that is different from the remaining drive voltages. The display panel is free from nonuniform or deteriorated contrast even if it has a large number of scanning electrodes. Besides, for a color display, the color balance is favorably adjusted, realizing a high quality picture image.

  • Patent number: 4552436
Abstract: A liquid crystal display having a uniform transmittance in the visible light range. The display includes a polarizer and analyzer which correct a non-uniform light transmittance of a liquid crystal layer. This is accomplished by controlling an angle between polarization axes of the polarizer and the analyzer in dependence on the product of a refractive index anisotropy and a thickness of the liquid crystal layer, so that the combined transmittance of the polarizer and the analyzer is a maximum in the wavelength range from 400 nm to 500 nm. When the product is approximately 0.5 .mu.m, the angle is selected in the range from 92 to 110 degrees and when the product is approximately 1.0 .mu.m, the angle is selected in the range from 94 to 120 degrees.
