  • Publication number: 20220023071
Abstract: A handle assembly for a medical device instrument including a handle having a shaft including a proximal end, and a distal end. The handle further includes a hand grip having first and second ends affixed to the proximal end of the shaft and a longitudinal axis extending substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. At least one of the first and second ends of the hand grip includes a ring having a longitudinal through axis spaced from and substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The ring is sized sufficiently to receive a user's finger to enable the handle to be rotated. The handle assembly further includes a quick connect at the distal end of the shaft for releasably connecting the handle assembly to a shaft of the medical device instrument.

  • Publication number: 20210361326
Abstract: A cutter for cutting an implant is provided. The cutter includes a gearbox; a primary milling bit, a secondary milling bit and a lead screw operatively coupled to the gearbox; an input coupling coupled rigidly to the primary milling bit; and an implant coupler coupled rigidly to the lead screw, wherein the gearbox is operable to translate with respect to the lead screw and to drive the secondary milling bit in response to a driving force applied to the input coupling.

  • Publication number: 20210324901
Abstract: A tool drive assembly including a flexible drive shaft and a guide. The flexible drive shaft includes a proximal end structured to engage a driver for rotating the flexible drive shaft, and a distal end opposite the proximal end. The guide includes a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, and a hub assembly at a distal end of the shaft. The hub assembly includes a housing, and a hub rotatably mounted within the housing. The hub includes an input connection structured to attach to the distal end of the flexible drive shaft, and an output connection structured to attach to a working tool. The tool drive assembly enables easy manipulation and driving of a working tool to achieve optimum positioning and effectiveness of the working tool.

  • Publication number: 20210322081
Abstract: A quick connect is disclosed for a medical device. The quick connect includes a housing, a slide lock mounted within the housing, and a locking assembly mounted within the housing. The slide lock is for receiving a cooperating connection adapter. The locking assembly includes a substantially annular member having a superiorly facing sloped recess. The substantially annular member is movable along a longitudinal axis of the housing upon rotation of the substantially annular member.

  • Publication number: 20210315713
Abstract: An implant extractor including a shaft body and a telescoping push rod extending from the shaft body. An adjustor is engaged with the telescoping push rod for adjusting a length of the telescoping push rod. A support arm extends laterally away from the shaft body and a jaw assembly extends from the support arm. The jaw assembly includes a jaw moveable between a locking position and an unlocking position, and a rocker arm operatively engaged with the telescoping push rod and the jaw. The implant extractor provides a line of force spaced from and substantially parallel to an implant to be extracted. As a consequence, there is substantial clearance for an extension handle such as a C-frame or the like which is oftentimes needed to dislodge the implant from surrounding bone. In addition, the implant extractor is capable of gripping a wide range of sizes of hip stem implant trunnions.

  • Publication number: 20210307931
Abstract: A locking grip extraction tool has plier handles with jaws having sharp beveled edges for moving in a direction so that an axis perpendicular to the plane of movement is oriented at an acute angle to the handles; the axis intersecting the plane of jaw movement at a point midway between the jaws. A locking link coupled to the handles is adapted to releasably lock the jaws onto an orthopedic implant. A connection rod can be threaded into a hole in one of the handles near the jaws, so that a force applying tool such as a slap hammer can be connected to the rod to apply force to remove the implant. The rod is in alignment with the axis, which alignment makes it easier to remove the implant.

  • Publication number: 20210298917
Abstract: A handle assembly for a surgical tool including a handle having a distal end, and a first retaining mechanism attached to the distal end of the handle. The retaining mechanism includes a first retaining housing having a first central cavity for receiving a surgical tool, and a first locking mechanism moveable between first and second positions relative to the housing, the locking mechanism including a through hole for receiving the surgical tool. The handle assembly further includes a second retaining mechanism attached to a proximal end of the handle. The second retaining mechanism includes a second retaining housing having a second central cavity for receiving a handle extension, and a second locking mechanism moveable between first and second positions relative to the second retaining housing, the second locking mechanism having a through hole for receiving the handle extension.
