  • Publication number: 20210212840
Abstract: A surgical extractor including first and second arms connected to first and second implant-engageable jaws. The first and second arms are connected by first and third links to a stationary screw jack nut and by second and fourth links to a moveable screw jack nut. A driven shaft is rotatably received in the stationary screw jack nut and threadedly received in the moveable screw jack nut, and a drive shaft rotatably drives the driven shaft. Rotation of the drive shaft in a first direction separates the first and second arms and jaws in order to receive an implant. Rotation of the drive shaft in a second direction closes the first and second arms and jaws in order to clamp an implant. A handle assembly engages the drive shaft in order to drive the drive shaft and disengages from the drive shaft to exert a removal force on an implant.

  • Patent number: 10987231
Abstract: A locking grip extraction tool has plier handles with jaws having sharp beveled edges for moving in a direction so that an axis perpendicular to the plane of movement is oriented at an acute angle to the handles; the axis intersecting the plane of jaw movement at a point midway between the jaws. A locking link coupled to the handles is adapted to releasably lock the jaws onto an orthopedic implant. A connection rod can be threaded into a hole in one of the handles near the jaws, so that a force applying tool such as a slap hammer can be connected to the rod to apply force to remove the implant. The rod is in alignment with the axis, which alignment makes it easier to remove the implant.

  • Publication number: 20210093465
Abstract: A medical implant extractor including a handle, a shank extending from the handle, and a head connected to a distal end of the shank. In particular, the shank includes a first axial segment having a first longitudinal axis, a second axial segment having a second longitudinal axis spaced from the first longitudinal axis; and the head is connected to a distal end of the second axial segment. The head includes a main body, a strike plate facing substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of one of the first and second longitudinal axes of the first and second axial segments, and a tip extending distally and outwardly from the main body. So constructed, effective implant extraction force may be exerted on the head by striking the strike plate with a striking tool in a substantially radial direction while minimizing the radial space within which the striking tool is swung.

  • Patent number: 10912573
Abstract: A reamer used in orthopedic surgery that reams and collects bone cement. The reamer may come in different diameters and is used when removal of bone cement is necessary, as is commonly done in revision surgeries. The reamer has a cutting tip with a fluted opening connected to a hollow body in which the bone cement chips or shavings collect after passing through the tip. The other end of the reamer has a hub that can connect to a drill. As the reamer advances into the IM canal it shaves the bone cement off of the walls and/or the bottom of the intramedullary canal. The reamer has a central channel extending throughout its length through which a guide wire may be placed.
