  • Publication number: 20200214853
Abstract: An implant extractor that includes an elongated body having a proximal end for attachment to an extraction device, a first arm extending from the elongated body, and a second arm pivotably connected to the first arm. The second arm includes a moment arm for generating a torque about a distal end of the second arm. The implant extractor further includes a force applicator operatively connected to the first arm and the moment arm to apply a force to one or more of the first and second arms.

  • Publication number: 20200155129
Abstract: A handle for a surgical tool including a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end with a gripping handle affixed to the proximal end of the shaft. A bushing is attached to the distal end of the shaft, the bushing including a plurality of flexible members circumferentially spaced apart. The handle further includes a sleeve circumscribing the shaft and the bushing. The sleeve is moveable between a first position substantially covering an entirety of the bushing and a second position spaced from a most distal end of the bushing.

  • Publication number: 20180360620
Abstract: A locking grip extraction tool has plier handles with jaws having sharp beveled edges for moving in a direction so that an axis perpendicular to the plane of movement is oriented at an acute angle to the handles; the axis intersecting the plane of jaw movement at a point midway between the jaws. A locking link coupled to the handles is adapted to releasably lock the jaws onto an orthopedic implant. A connection rod can be threaded into a hole in one of the handles near the jaws, so that a force applying tool such as a slap hammer can be connected to the rod to apply force to remove the implant. The rod is in alignment with the axis, which alignment makes it easier to remove the implant.

  • Publication number: 20160270797
Abstract: A reamer used in orthopedic surgery that reams and collects bone cement. The reamer may come in different diameters and is used when removal of bone cement is necessary, as is commonly done in revision surgeries. The reamer has a cutting tip with a fluted opening connected to a hollow body in which the bone cement chips or shavings collect after passing through the tip. The other end of the reamer has a hub that can connect to a drill. As the reamer advances into the IM canal it shaves the bone cement off of the walls and/or the bottom of the intramedullary canal. The reamer has a central channel extending throughout its length through which a guide wire may be placed.
