  • Publication number: 20050277436
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of enabling a dual band handset having both a low power system (e.g., PHS) and a high power system (e.g., GSM) arrangements to be ready to receive a call in standby through utilizing a dual band/dual mode antenna in cooperation with a dual band duplexer, wherein the dual band antenna has different resonant lengths in different operating frequencies. The higher of frequency the shorter of the resonant length of an antenna vibrator, the lower of frequency the longer of the resonant length of the antenna vibrator, the vibrator associated with high frequency is used when the operating frequency is low, and the increased vibrator is cut when the operating frequency is high so as to use the short vibrator only, thereby enabling the antenna to operate at either operating frequency.

  • Patent number: 6773298
Abstract: An improved connector assembly for use on, inter alia, a printed circuit board or other device is disclosed. The assembly comprises a connector housing having one or more modular plug recesses for receiving a modular plug such as an RJ-type plug; a plurality of conductors disposed within the recess for contact with the terminals of the modular plug; and an electrical pathway between the conductors and a corresponding set of circuit board leads. The connector assembly also includes at least one other recess for receiving a light source sub-assembly. Each light source sub-assembly provides one or more light sources (e.g., light-emitting diodes) adapted to permit viewing of status indications during operation. Each light source sub-assembly is constructed to substantially reduce electromagnetic coupling between the light source and the connector's signal paths. The light source sub-assembly further simplifies the manufacturing of the connector assembly.

  • Patent number: 6422148
Abstract: A perforating gun assembly that includes at least one component that is constructed from a composite material and that is impermeable to wellbore fluids. The components may include the outer carrier and/or loading tube of a perforating gun, the connecting tubing of a gun release mechanism, and the gun connector used to attach adjacent perforating guns. The composite material is designed to be very brittle under dynamic impact. The component is made impermeable to wellbore fluids by including an impermeable liner therein. The impermeable liner can be bonded to the inner or outer surface of the component or can be embedded within the component. Since it is brittle under dynamic impact, the composite component shatters into small pieces upon detonation of the perforating gun.
