    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for controlling user's participation into a session so that the system can control accession to a PoC session requested by anonymous users and restrict an expelled user from joining the session again. Under the present invention, a client in the PoC session sends a request of expelling a user to the control server, with the SSRC identifier or nickname of the user or an anonymous user wildcard carried in the request; according to the received SSRC identifier, nickname or anonymous user wildcard, the control server searches for the corresponding PoC address, and expels the user out of the session as required according to the PoC address. Therefore, the client with the expulsion right can control accession to the PoC session requested by other users, especially anonymous users, thus keeping order of the session.

    Abstract: A means for optically coupling a semiconductor laser to an optical fiber is disclosed. In one embodiment, a volume phase holographic element is disposed on a light-emitting surface of a semiconductor laser. The volume phase holographic element acts as an aberration-corrector for a lens that is disposed between the semiconductor laser and the optical fiber. In this way, an inexpensive lens that is not aberration free can be used. In some embodiments, the volume phase holographic element converts a Gaussian light beam emitted by the semiconductor laser into an annular beam that is more suitable for long distance transmission in multimode fibers.

    Abstract: Described is a technology for load testing a service such as a medical data service (e.g., Microsoft Amalga® UIS) with mixed test sets. Simulated users perform randomly selected operations against the service. State machines are created to represent the simulated users, with the operations arranged within states of the state machine. By randomly selecting each state and its operations, the actions of many real users may be simulated, providing a realistic load test of the service. Moreover, to match certain types of usage scenarios, the states in a state machine may be weighted relative to one another so that the random selection is biased in favor of more weighted states. Similarly, each operation within a state may be weighted relative to each other operation within the same state, so that when a state is determined, the random selection is biased in favor of more weighted operations within that state.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a doped cerium oxide sorbent that can effectively and regenerably remove H2S in the temperature range of about 500° C. to about 1000° C. Regenerable sorbents (e.g., ZnO, La2O3, CeO2) and methods of using them are disclosed that allow cyclic desulfurization from about 300-500° C., 350-450° C., and at about 400° C. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method of desulfurizing fuel gas comprising passing the fuel gas through the sorbent at a space velocity wherein the sulfur compounds are adsorbed substantially on the surface of the sorbent; and regenerating the sorbent by passing a regenerating gas through the sorbent, wherein substantially all of the sulfur compounds are desorbed from the sorbent surface. In a further embodiment, the method of desulfurizing fuel gas further comprises repeating the aforementioned steps while the fuel processor is in operation.

The sampling substrate is then exposed to a second reagent that contains an acid to react with the nitrite and a diaminoaromatic present in either the first or second reagent, to form a triazole that will luminesce. Another method of the invention combines this process for nitramine- and nitrate ester-based explosives detection with a technique to detect nitroaromatic-based explosives using luminescent polymers, for a three-step process for the detection of explosives in these three classes.

    Abstract: Mitigating the DC content of an AC output from an inverter is important for electrical system reliability. The inverter may be powered by unbalanced DC inputs while still mitigating the DC content of the AC output wavefrom. The present invention provides methods to mitigate the DC content in the output DC voltage by reshaping the PWM reference signals (carrier signals) according to the DC content in such a way that the DC content is canceled. These reshaped PWM reference signals may be, for example, unsymmetrical reference waveforms. Unlike conventional methods for providing an AC voltage from a DC voltage with an inverter, which may result in DC content in the output AC voltage when an unbalanced DC input voltage is supplied, the present invention provides methods for mitigating the DC content in an AC voltage, even if the inverter providing the AC voltage is supplied with unbalanced DC voltage.
