  • Publication number: 20090158780
Abstract: A take-off element (10) for the gentle treatment of thread and for simple handling comprises two parts (11, 12), wherein at least one of said parts is arranged so as to be adjustable in longitudinal direction relative to the other. Whereas one of the parts 11 has a longitudinal slit for receiving a thread, the other part is provided with a head (34) extending on one side away from the shaft (35), the head being movable from the outside to the thread-receiving opening (26) in order to close the opening and away therefrom in order to clear the opening. The head (34) has an oblique surface (37) which is disposed to close the thread-receiving opening (26). The new take-off element (10) does not have a hook and thus does not exhibit any problem regarding process reliability. Its part (12) has a robust slider head, thus avoiding potential deformations on the head. Considering process reliability, the take-off element (10) permits a perfect insertion and removal of the comb thread (25) of a knit fabric.

  • Patent number: 7509820
Abstract: Referring to a rehanging needle, the shaft is provided with a cutout that receives the tip of a rehanging spring. The cutout is divided into a first section and a second section, whereby the two sections have different depths. When a half stitch slides onto the rehanging spring, the spring tip can use the space due to the recessed second section and sink into said space, without the rehanging spring experiencing a permanent deformation. Consequently, it is possible for the half stitches to consistently and reliably slide up in order to set up the rehanging operation.

  • Publication number: 20080277779
Abstract: A microelectronic package comprises a substrate (110), a die (120) having a front side (121) and a back side (122) located over the substrate, a thermally conducting layer (130) on the back side of the die, a microchannel (140) above the thermally conducting layer, and a cap (150) on the microchannel. The thermally conducting layer between the die and the microchannel may lend mechanical strength to the package, may be thin enough to be compliant and avoid contributing meaningful CTE mismatch with the die, and may prevent the formation or propagation of cracks in the microchannel.

  • Patent number: 7336861
Abstract: The provision of an ionic self-assembled multilayer (ISAM) film on a fiber-optic element including a long period grating (LPG) by a simple, room temperature process provides tuning of the LPG and/or high sensitivity to the refractive index of the ambient environment of the fiber-optic element. Inclusion of a final layer or a probe, receptor or affinity ligand in the multi-layer film provides a highly sensitive sensor for specific chemical and biological materials. Use of a turn around point (TAP) LPG allows detection to be performed by detection of light intensity rather than wavelength of attenuation. Use of a material having an electro-optical response to an electrical field by change of dimension or refractive index allows the combination of a LPG or TAP LPG and ISAM film to function as a light modulator.

  • Publication number: 20070067010
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a procedure and a special balloon used in balloon angioplasty and stent installation in percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), which employs a heart catheter with a balloon at its distal end. After being inflated, the balloon is in doughnut shape with a hole in the center; its length is made to fit the length of the stent to be inflated. During an angioplasty procedure, the balloon is pushed forward into the stenosis and inflated with a device to dilate the blockage. The doughnut_shaped balloon provides a pass way for blood to flow through the coronary artery vessel, which does not cause angina akin to a heart attack resulted from traditional tube_shaped balloons used in the PTCA procedure that completely block blood flow after being fully inflated during balloon angioplasty and stent installation.
