Abstract: The present invention provides a method for redistributing the license tokens to the traffic nodes to make the license tokens can be efficiently distributed to the traffic node. The method including: collecting usage information of each of the traffic nodes; determining a set of license tokens for each of the traffic nodes; and commanding a first group of traffic node(s) to release license tokens and commanding a second group of traffic node(s) to request license tokens based on the usage information and the set of license tokens. A moderator, used in a license controlling system which can efficiently redistribute the license tokens among the traffic nodes, is provided and a controlling system which including this moderator is also provided.

Abstract: A system and method for managing edge servers and the location of edge servers in a content delivery network is provided. Incoming content requests to a plurality of existing edge servers are analyzed with respect to their originating locations. It is determined that a new edge server should be added to the network at a location where none of the plurality of existing edge servers reside. A data center is selected in accordance with the desired location, and a new edge server is instantiated. Traffic handled by two or more of the existing edge servers can be consolidated and routed to the new edge server. Edge servers are dynamically added to and removed from the network.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for managing the traffic load of a delivery node being in a state BLOCKED or UNBLOCKED. The method comprises the step determining that the traffic load of the delivery node is within a pair of upper and lower limits. The method also comprise the step of changing the state of the delivery node upon the determination that the traffic load of a delivery node is within the pair of upper and lower limits. Changing the state is changing from UNBLOCKED to BLOCKED or from BLOCKED to UNBLOCKED. The invention also relates to a delivery node suitable for implementing the method disclosed hereinabove.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method, Multimedia Content Manager (MuMCM), gateway and user device for managing multimedia content download. The MuMCM is in communication with a user device and with an operator network through a subscription. The MuMCM can be implemented in hardware as a standalone device or as a software service, running in a gateway or user device. The method includes sending a request for data usage for the subscription to the operator network and receiving a response comprising the data usage. The method includes receiving a request for multimedia content, sending a modified request for the multimedia content to a content provider, the request being modified according to a maximum content size available for download and receiving a multimedia content. The method includes transmitting the multimedia content to the user device and storing the multimedia content in a cache.

Abstract: A system and method for managing a hybrid firewall solution, employing both hardware and software firewall components, for a cloud computing data center is provided. A virtual application is hosted by a first plurality of application virtual machines and a second plurality of firewall virtual machines provides firewalling services for traffic associated with the virtual application. A cloud management entity determines that the virtual application requires an increased number of application virtual machines. A security profile for the virtual application is verified to determine if an increased number of firewall virtual machines is required by the increased number of application virtual machines. The cloud management entity can instantiate additional application virtual machines and firewall virtual machines as required.

Abstract: A method for message translation and a Messaging Translation Service Application Server (MTS AS) are provided for translating messages exchanged with, and among, social network services alike Facebook™ and Tweeter™. According to the invention, a message written in a first language by a user is received by a first social media network, which further obtains from other social media network(s) information related to a language used by therein. Then, the first social media network requests translation of the message from the first language into the language used by the other social network systems, and further sends the translated message to the other social network systems.

Abstract: A cloud management device determines that a virtual machine should be migrated from a first host to a second host, the virtual machine being associated with a virtual service, such as a virtual firewall, in the first host. The cloud management device verifies if functionality corresponding to the virtual service is available in the second host. If the required functionality is not available, a new virtual service is instructed to be instantiated in the second host. State synchronization can be performed between the virtual services in the first and second hosts. The cloud management device instructs the virtual machine to be instantiated in the second host.

Abstract: An instant messaging service is provided using short message service (SMS) messages as the underlying transport layer. A user having a phone associated with an MSISDN can use a client to generate messages that are then transmitted as if they originated from the phone. The SMS message is delivered to the second party's phone as per a normal SMS message. If the second party is also using a client, the client can retrieve messages addressed to the second party's MSISDN even though client does not need to be associated with the MSISDN. The use of SMS messages provides for a persistent and reliable transport layer, and also allows for fall back to SMS messaging for either party independently.

Abstract: A system and method for enabling a network messaging center to identify messages for further processing or distribution is provided. The source and destination addresses of a received message are compared to determine if the received message should be flagged for further processing, without forwarding the message to the indicated destination address. The further processing can include extracting recipient information from the received message determining how to distribute the message to each of the extracted recipients.

Abstract: Temporal metadata associated with media content drives bilateral interaction between a media server and an IPTV control server during streaming of that content from the media server. Specifically, the metadata is encoded to indicate, and associate together, a defined point in the media content's presentation timeline and a defined operation, such as the fetching of supplemental media content or the sending of a notification. The media server inspects this metadata and, based on that inspection, notifies the IPTV control server when the defined point has been reached in the context of streaming the media content. Responsive to receiving this notification, the IPTV control server inspects the metadata to identify the operation associated with the notified point in the content's timeline. The IPTV control server then initiates the performance of the identified operation and returns a response to the media server that pertains to such performance.

Abstract: A method and an Application Server for enabling a non-SIP device to use a SIP service are described. The method is executed in an Application Server and comprises the steps of receiving a request for a SIP service from a non-SIP device. Abstract: A high availability management system for machine-to-machine (M2M) gateways is provided. A cluster of mobile stations, which act as M2M gateways for a number of M2M devices, form a virtual high availability management pool which provides access to a telecommunications network. A network messaging center detects the failure or unavailability of an M2M gateway and initiates a failover procedure to transfer the gateway responsibility for the devices connected to the unavailable gateway. An M2M management server identifies a failover mobile station associated with the unavailable mobile station and initiates the transfer of the gateway responsibilities from the unavailable mobile station to the identified failover mobile station.

Abstract: An IPTV filter node in an IPTV network is operative to control the delivery of multimedia content to a plurality of rendering units in a home network by comparison of various multimedia rendering criteria to predetermined subscriber information maintained in a subscriber profile. In some embodiments, the IPTV filter node is further operative to control the delivery of multimedia content via dynamic interaction with an authorization user.

Abstract: Teachings herein include a first machine-to-machine (M2M) device manager in a local area network (LAN). The first manager receives operating information for a first M2M device managed by the first manager. This operating information may indicate, for example, the operating state (e.g., on or off) of the first device. Responsive to receiving this operating information, the first manager coordinates operation of a second M2M device that is managed by a second M2M device manager in the LAN. The first manager effectively does so by evaluating the received operating information according to a set of policy-based rules, generating control signaling according to that evaluation, and then sending the generated control signaling to the second manager. Because this control signaling is sent horizontally between different M2M device managers, rather than vertically to some centralized server, such operation coordination can occur across M2M devices that would not otherwise be inter-operable.

Abstract: Passive presence information for a first user of a service, such as a conversation service, is obtained by analyzing user activity logs. This is performed upon request for a second user. Thus lightweight presence information can be obtained without requiring the higher overhead required in a conventional Internet Protocol Multimedia Service (IMS) environment. Such a lightweight presence feature can enable other services including a conversation service that allows users to update a conversation object. Users can listen for updates to particular conversation objects, thus providing a simulated real-time push experience.
