  • Patent number: 8196707
Abstract: An arrangement for cooling oil in a gearbox of a vehicle which is powered by a combustion engine. An oil cooler is fitted in the vehicle close to the gearbox. An oil system circulates oil between the gearbox and the oil cooler. An oil circuit contains a circulating coolant to cool the oil in the oil cooler. A cooling element cools the coolant by air which flows through the cooling element. The cooling element is situated at a location in the vehicle where air at the temperature of the surroundings flows through it. The cooling circuit includes a line to lead the cooled coolant from the cooling element to the oil cooler. The oil in the oil cooler can thus be cooled to a temperature close to the temperature of the surroundings.

  • Patent number: 8166758
Abstract: A cooling arrangement for a vehicle engine including at least one cooling element which has flowing through it a gaseous medium operable to being cooled by an external air flow which flows in a specified direction through the cooling element during operation of the combustion engine. A heat-supplying element is fitted at a location upstream from the cooling element with respect to the direction of the cooling air flow so that at least part of the air flowing through the heat-supplying element also flows through the cooling element. A control device is operable to activate the heat-supplying element so that the air flowing through the heat-supplying element is warmed during situations where there is risk of the gaseous medium in the cooling element being cooled to below a lowest acceptable temperature. The heat-supplying element and the cooling element have a connection so that they constitute a composite unit.

  • Patent number: 8100106
Abstract: An arrangement for warming the oil in a gearbox in a vehicle powered by a combustion engine. A first pipe system with a first flow device which makes possible circulation of oil from the combustion engine through a heat exchanger. A second pipe system with a second flow device makes possible circulation of oil from the gearbox through the heat exchanger. A control device controls the flow devices so that flow of oil through the heat exchanger is obtained in situations in which the oil in the gearbox is at a too low temperature with respect to a desired temperature. The motor oil in the combustion engine can thus be used for heating the oil in the gearbox during cold starts of the combustion engine.
