Stadium bag

A new and improved shoulder bag is disclosed which also would serve as a seat cushion in both the open and closed positions. The shoulder bag would be approximately rectangular in shape and would have two side faces, which would include a first side face and a second side face. The shoulder bag would also have a top edge, a bottom edge, and two side edges, a first side edge and a second side edge. The shoulder bag would comprise two half sections, with the two half sections being pivotally attached to one another at the bottom edge. The shoulder bag would include a zipper, with the zipper being located on the first side edge, the top edge, and the second side edge. The shoulder bag would also include a shoulder strap clasp, which would provide the user with a hands-free way of carrying small items, such as an umbrella, small beverage coolers, or other items that have a handle for carrying. In addition, items can be carried within the present invention when in the closed position.

I. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention is that of a new and improved shoulder bag which also would serve as a seat cushion in both the open and closed positions.

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

[0002] U.S. Pat. No. 4,872,538, issued to Fournier, discloses an article of luggage that has first and second side walls joined by a joining wall.

[0003] U.S. Pat. No. 4,863,003, issued to Carter, discloses a combination seat cushion and tote bag.

[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 3,763,972, issued to Karzmar, discloses a combined stadium seat and carrier for bottle beverages including two half shell sections hinged together.

III. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention is that of a new and improved shoulder bag which also would serve as a seat cushion in both the open and closed positions. The shoulder bag would be approximately rectangular in shape and would have two side faces, which would include a first side face and a second side face. The shoulder bag would also have a top edge, a bottom edge, and two side edges, a first side edge and a second side edge. The shoulder bag would comprise two half sections, with the two half sections being pivotally attached to one another at the bottom edge. The shoulder bag would include a zipper, with the zipper being located on the first side edge, the top edge, and the second side edge. The shoulder bag would also include a shoulder strap clasp, which would provide the user with a hands-free way of carrying small items, such as an umbrella, small beverage coolers, or other items that have a handle for carrying. In addition, items can be carried within the present invention when in the closed position.

[0006] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of a shoulder bag in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the shoulder bag that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

[0007] In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the shoulder bag in detail, it is to be understood that the shoulder bag is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The shoulder bag is capable of other embodiments and being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of descriptions and should not be regarded as limiting.

[0008] As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present shoulder bag. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regard as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

[0009] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a shoulder bag which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

[0010] It is another object of the present invention to provide a shoulder bag which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.

[0011] It is another object of the present invention to provide a shoulder bag which is of durable and reliable construction.

[0012] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a shoulder bag which is economically affordable and available to the buying public.

[0013] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a shoulder bag which provides additional benefits not present in the prior art.

[0014] Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment when considered with the attached drawings and appended claims.

IV. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

V. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

The present invention is that of a new and improved shoulder bag 2 which also would serve as a seat cushion in both the open and closed positions. The shoulder bag 2 would be approximately rectangular in shape and would have two side faces, which would include a first side face and a second side face. The shoulder bag 2 would also have a top edge, a bottom edge, and two side edges, a first side edge and a second side edge. The shoulder bag 2 would comprise two half sections, a first half section 4 and a second half section 6, with the two half sections being pivotally attached to one another at the bottom edge. Each section would include a thin cushion covered by a waterproof membrane, with each cushion being approximately two inches in thickness, fourteen inches in length, and fourteen inches in width.

[0018] The shoulder bag would include a zipper 8, with the zipper 8 being located on the first side edge, the top edge, and the second side edge. The shoulder bag 2 would also include a shoulder strap 9 with an included clasp 10, which would provide the user with a hands-free way of carrying small items, such as an umbrella, small beverage cooler, or other items that have a handle for carrying. In addition, items can be carried within the present invention when in the closed position.

[0019] FIG. 2 shows a side view of the present invention in a halfway-open position. This drawing illustrates the manner in which a user can open up shoulder bag 2 so that shoulder bag 2 can be used as a seat cushion. Further, this drawing illustrates how the first half section 4 and the second half section 6 are pivotally attached to one another. Used properly, the present invention would allow a sports enthusiast to have comfort during sporting events.

Claims

1. A combined shoulder bag and seat cushion comprising:

(a) a first side portion comprising a thin cushion, the thin cushion being approximately two inches in thickness, fourteen inches in length, and fourteen inches in width, the first side portion also including a water resistant covering, the covering designed to cover the thin cushion, the first side portion having an outside open surface, two side surfaces, a left side surface and a right side surface, and the first side portion further including a top side surface and a bottom side surface,
(b) a second side portion comprising a thin cushion, the thin cushion being approximately two inches in thickness, fourteen inches in length, and fourteen inches in width, the second side portion also including a water resistant covering, the covering designed to cover the thin cushion, the second side portion having an outside open surface, two side surfaces, a left side surface and a right side surface, and the second side portion further including a top side surface and a bottom side surface, the bottom side surface of the second side portion being pivotally attached to the bottom side surface of the first side portion,
(c) a zipper for removably attaching the first side portion to the second side portion, and
(d) a shoulder strap with two ends, a first end and a second end, the first end of the shoulder strap attached to the left side surface of either the first side portion or the second side portion of the combined shoulder bag and seat cushion, the second end of the shoulder strap attached to the right side surface of either the first side portion or the second side portion of the combined shoulder bag and seat cushion.

A combined shoulder bag and seat cushion according to claim 1 wherein the zipper removably attaches the left side surface of the first side portion to the left side surface of the second side portion, further wherein the zipper removably attaches the top side surface of the first side portion to the top side surface of the second side portion, and further wherein the zipper removably attaches the right side surface of the first side portion to the right side surface of the second side portion.

3. A combined shoulder bag and seat cushion according to claim 1 wherein the shoulder strap further comprises a clasp, the clasp located approximately halfway between the first end of the shoulder strap and the second end of the shoulder strap.
