Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a supporting device that has a biasing device biasing the threaded rod which is movably received in a tube. The biasing device is released from the threaded rod which is allowed to move quickly.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A conventional supporting device is shown in FIG. 1 and generally includes a base 13 which has a receiving portion 132 with a first threaded inner periphery 133. A tube 12 has a threaded section 121 connected to the first threaded inner periphery 133 and has a second threaded inner periphery 120 with which a rod 11 is threadedly engaged with the second threaded inner periphery 120 by the threads 110 defined in an outer periphery of the rod 11. A support platform 10 has a connection portion 103 which has a third threaded inner periphery 102 which is engaged with the threads 110 of the rod 11. The base 13 is put on the floor and the support platform 10 is height adjustably extended to a desired height. When adjusting the height of the support platform 10, the rod 11 is rotated relative to the tube 12 so as to move the rod 11 together with the support platform 10 on the rod 11 to a desired height. This rotation of the rod 11 requires too much time and it needs a large torque to rotate the rod 11 if there is a load on the support platform 10. Besides, the angle of the rod 11 and the support platform 10 cannot be adjusted so that the support device cannot be used for an tilt ceiling.

[0003] The present invention intends to provide a supporting device wherein the rod can be extended relative to the tube in a short period of time, and the support platform is pivotably connected to the rod so as to be used for a tilt ceiling.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a supporting device which comprises a base and a tube is connected to the base. A rod having a threaded outer periphery is movably received in the tube, wherein an inner diameter of a passage of the tube is larger than an outer diameter of the threaded outer periphery of the rod. A support platform is connected to the rod.

[0005] A biasing device is composed of a box, a spring received in the box and a pushing member which is movably inserted through one end of the box and contacts the spring which is biased between the pushing member and an inside of the box. The pushing member has a through hole defined radially therethrough and threads are defined in an inner periphery of the through hole. The rod movably extends through two alignment holes of the box and the threads are engaged with the threaded outer periphery.

[0006] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

[0011] FIG. 5 shows the rod and the supporting platform is raised to a desired height by rotating the biasing device;

[0012] FIG. 6 shows a connection member is pivotably connected between the supporting platform and the rod, and

[0013] FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of the supporting device of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0014] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the supporting device of the present invention comprises a base 20 which has a receiving portion with a threaded inner periphery 212 and a tube 4 is securely received in the receiving portion by engaging a threaded section 41 of the tube 4 with the threaded inner periphery 212.

[0015] A rod 3 having a threaded outer periphery 30 is movably received in the tube 4, wherein an inner diameter of a passage 40 of the tube 4 is larger than an outer diameter of the threaded outer periphery 30 of the rod 3 such that the rod 3 can be freely moved in the passage 40 in the tube 4. A connection member 21 has a threaded hole 212 defined in one end thereof so that an end of the rod 3 is threadedly engaged with the threaded hole 212. An ear with a hole 210 extends from a second end of the connection member 21 and is pivotably connected between two lugs 205 extending from an underside of a support platform 20 by a pin extending through holes 206 in the two lugs 205 and the hole 210 in the ear 205. Four pads 202 are connected on four corners of a top surface 201 of the support platform 20 so as to avoid from scribing objects supported by the support platform 20.

[0016] A biasing device 5 is composed of a box 50, a spring 51 received in the interior 501 of the box 50 and a pushing member 52 which is movably inserted through one end of the box 50 and contacts the spring 51 which is biased between the pushing member 52 and an inside of the box 50. the pushing member 52 has a through hole 520 defined radially therethrough and threads 521 are defined in an inner periphery of the through hole 520. The rod 3 movably extends through two alignment holes 502 of the box 50 and the threads 521 are engaged with the threaded outer periphery 30 because the pushing member 52 is biased by the spring 51.

[0017] FIG. 4 shows that the rod 3 can be pulled upward quickly by pushing the pushing member 52 to disengage the threads 521 from the threads 30 of the rod 3 and then pulling the rod 3 to a desired position. As shown in FIG. 5, after the support platform 20 is raised to a desired position, the user may rotate the box 50 of the biasing device 5 about the tube 4 to micro-adjust the rod 3 so as to allow the support platform 20 to reach, a precise position. By the invention, the user can shift the rod 3 quickly and conveniently without too much effort and time.

[0018] FIG. 6 shows that the connection member 21 allows the support platform 20 to contact against a tilt ceiling 7 and this feature allows the supporting device of the present invention to be used at any type of situation.

[0019] FIG. 7 shows that a neck 505 extends from the box 50 and an end of the tube 4 is rotatably retained in the neck 505. The end of the tube 4 has a groove 42 and the neck 505 has two aligned threaded holes 506, a bolt 8 extending through the threaded holes 506 and being engaged with the groove 42. Therefore, the box 50 is engaged with the tube 4 without worry about being detached during operation. The top surface of the support platform 20 has grooves 203 which are convenient to position pipes (not shown).

[0020] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
