Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The invention relates to a garment hanger and, more particularly, to a garment hanger having teeth on sides of a hanger body to fasten an item onto the hanger body.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] A garment hung on a conventional garment hanger easily falls off due to to winding or excessive weight. A clip is usually used to further fasten the garment onto the garment hanger. In addition, the traditional garment hanger may further drop from a rod on which hangs.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide a garment hanger having a plastic injection-molded hanger body with teeth spaced thereon, that allows a garment, such as underwear, tank tops, wide-neckline T-shirts and trousers, to be firmly fastened on the garment hanger without the need of clips. The garment hanger can be also properly positioned on the rod.

[0006] It is another object of the invention to provide a garment hanger that can be firmly positioned on rods of various diameters.

[0007] It is still another object of the invention to provide a garment hanger on which a slim item such as tie or belt can be also firmly hung.

[0008] In order to achieve the above and other objectives, a garment hanger of the invention includes a hanger body, a clasp and at least one engaging element. The hanger body has a plurality of first rounded teeth that are formed respectively along sides thereof with a constant clearance between two adjacent teeth. Each of the first rounded teeth has a top larger than its bottom to form a small mouth between the tops of two adjacent teeth. A hooked neck is connected to a roof of the hanger body. A pair of round notches is respectively disposed on exterior edges of a hook portion of the hooked neck in a symmetrical manner. The clasp has a protruding button and a tab at opposite ends. The protruding button and the tab respectively engage with the notches of the hooked neck. The engaging element has second rounded teeth properly spaced on one side thereof to fit respectively in clearances formed by the adjacent first teeth.

[0009] To provide a further understanding of the invention, the following detailed description illustrates embodiments and examples of the invention, this detailed description being provided only for illustration of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

[0021] Wherever possible in the following description, like reference numerals will refer to like elements and parts unless otherwise illustrated.

[0022] FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a garment hanger assembled with engaging elements according to one embodiment of the invention. FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a clasp that is used in a garment hanger according to one embodiment of the invention. The garment hanger of the invention includes a hanger body 1, a clasp 2, and at least one engaging element 8.

[0023] The hanger body 1 is made of, for example, plastic. The hanger body 1 is made by, for example, injection molding. The hanger body 1 is of triangular shape. First rounded teeth 11 are formed respectively along exterior surfaces of the sloped sides of the triangular hanger body 1, with a constant clearance between adjacent teeth 11. The first teeth 11 can be further formed on a bottom side of the hanger body 1. Each of the first rounded teeth has a top 111 larger than its bottom to form a small mouth between the tops 111 of two adjacent teeth 11. Furthermore, a hooked neck 12 is connected to a roof of the hanger body 1. A pair of notches 121, 121′ is respectively formed on exterior edges of a hook portion of the hooked neck 12 in a symmetrical manner. The notches 121, 121′ are, for example, rounded.

[0024] It is noted that through the small mouth formed by the adjacent teeth 11, a strip to be hung over the garment is securely positioned on the hanger body. The use of the garment hanger of the invention is illustrated as follows.

[0025] As shown in FIG. 4, when the garment hanger is used to hang up an article of women's underwear, a strip 41 of the underwear is positioned in the mouth formed by the adjacent teeth 11. As shown in FIG. 5, the method of use is similar when the garment hanger is used to hang up a tank top 5. A shoulder 51 of the tank top 5 is positioned in the mouth formed by the adjacent teeth 11.

[0026] As shown in FIG. 6, when the garment hanger is used to hang up a T-shirt 6, a neckline of the T-shirt 6 is firmly hung between the first teeth 11 on both sloped sides of the triangular garment hanger.

[0027] As shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, when the garment hanger is used to hang trousers (including XL- or XS-size trousers) provided with hanging strips 71B, 71C, the hanging strips 71B, 71C are respectively placed in the mouths formed by the first teeth on either sloped sides of the hanger body 1. Thereby, trousers of any size can be firmly placed on the garment hanger of the invention.

[0028] Furthermore, the clasp 2 is made of a flexible plastic material. One end of the clasp 2 is provided with a protruding button 21. The other end of the clasp 2 is provided with a tab 22. A plurality of retaining rings 23 is formed on the clasp 2 close to the tab 22. As shown in FIG. 3, when the hanger body 1 is to be hung on a rod 3, the protruding button 21 and retaining ring 23 respectively engage with the notches 121, 121′ of the hooked neck 12 to fasten the garment hanger to the rod 3. Different locations for the retaining ring 23 can be chosen depending on a diameter of the rod 3.

[0029] The number of engaging elements 8 can be increased as desired. As shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, second rounded teeth 81, 81′ are properly spaced on one side of the engaging element 8 to fit respectively in the clearances formed by the adjacent first teeth 11. A slim item such as tie 9 or a belt (not shown) is hung on the first teeth 11 at the bottom side of the hanger body 1 in a folded manner. Then, the second teeth 12 of the engaging element 8 engage with the clearances formed by the adjacent first teeth 11 to fasten the slim item between the bottom of the engaging element 8 and the first teeth 11.

[0030] Those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that the above description is only illustrative of specific embodiments and examples of the invention. The invention should therefore cover various modifications and variations made to the herein-described structure and operations of the invention, provided they fall within the scope of the invention as defined in the following appended claims.
