Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a blower, and particularly to a blower for dissipating heat from electronic devices.

DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART

Electronic devices such as central processing units (CPUs) frequently generate large amounts of heat during normal operation, which can destabilize operation of the electronic device and possibly cause damage. Oftentimes, a heat dissipation assembly is used to dissipate heat from the electronic device. The heat dissipation assembly frequently comprises a fan facilitating removal of heat from the electronic device.

As computer technology continues to advance, the electronic devices of computers are being made to provide faster operational speeds and greater functional capabilities, which cause more heat to be generated. Therefore, high-speed blowers are used to dissipate the generated heat instead of ordinary fans. FIG. 3 shows a conventional blower. The blower includes a fan blade assembly 10, a rotor 20, a stator 30, and a scroll housing 40. The stator 30 is secured on a bottom panel 41 of the scroll housing 40. The rotor 20 is rotatably mounted around the stator 30. The fan blade assembly 10 is secured around the rotor 20. The fan blade assembly 10 includes a cylinder 11, an annular upper ring 12, an annular lower outer ring 13, an annular lower inner ring 14, and fan blades 15. The cylinder 11 is set in the center of the fan blade assembly 10 and fixed with the rotor 20. The fan blades 15 are set surrounding the cylinder 11 and fixed by the upper ring 12, the lower outer ring 13, and the lower inner ring 14. The cylinder 11 is coupled to the lower inner ring 14. The blower works at high speed to provide greater airflow, however, with greater speed comes greater noise.

What is needed, therefore, is a high-speed blower with a reduced noise level.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A high-speed blower with reduced noise is provided. In a preferred embodiment, the blower includes a fan blade assembly. The fan blade assembly includes a cylinder, fan blades, and damping ribs. The fan blades are fixed by an upper ring, a lower outer ring, and a lower inner ring. The cylinder is surrounded by the fan blades and coupled to the lower inner ring. The damping ribs are set between each two adjacent fan blades for enhancing structural integrity of the fan blade assembly thereby acting as a vibration damper of the fan blades when the blower operates at high-speed.

Other advantages and novel features will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a blower, in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of the circled portion □ of FIG. 1; and

FIG. 3 is an exploded view of a conventional blower.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, a blower in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a fan blade assembly 100, a rotor 200, a stator 300, and a scroll housing 400. The fan blade assembly 100 includes a cylinder 110, an annular upper ring 120, an annular lower outer ring 130, an annular lower inner ring 140, a plurality of spaced fan blades 150, and damping ribs 160. The cylinder 110 is fixed to and surrounding the rotor 200. The fan blades 150 are arranged along a circumferential face, which surrounds and spaces the cylinder 110. The upper ring 120 connects with upper ends of the fan blades 150. The lower outer ring 130 connects with one side of lower ends of the fan blades 150. The lower inner ring 140 interconnects an opposite side of the lower ends of the fan blades 150 with the cylinder 110. The damping ribs 160 are set between each two adjacent fan blades 150 and arranged at a circle concentric with the cylinder 110. Adjacent two damping ribs 160 are separated from each other by one of the fan blades 150.

The stator 300 is secured on the bottom panel 410 of the scroll housing 400. The rotor 200 is rotatably mounted to the stator 300. The rotor 200 drives the fan blade assembly 100 to rotate via the cylinder 110. The damping ribs 160 enhance structural integrity of the fan blade assembly 100 thereby acting as a vibration damper of the fan blades 150 when the blower operates at high-speed.

It is believed that the present invention and its advantages will be understood from the foregoing description, and it will be apparent that various changes may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the example hereinbefore described merely being a preferred or exemplary embodiment.
