BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The embodiments of the invention relate to the field of bed covering devices. More specifically, the embodiments of the present invention relate to a multi-layered bed covering device with a security restraint.

2. Description of the Related Art

Blankets and sheets have been used to cover beds for centuries to provide a comfortable sleep experience and to protect from cold nighttime temperatures. Generally, beds are covered with a bottom sheet, a top sheet over the bottom sheet, a blanket over the top sheet, and possibly-a comforter over the blanket. While sleeping, a person can move around a substantial amount in the bed, causing the sheets and blankets to become disheveled and possibly even fall off of the bed. In especially cold conditions, this can often leave a person without the necessary protection from the cold temperatures, which can lead to sickness, not to mention an uncomfortable sleep experience. Further, the lack of a way to keep sheets and blankets on the bed in an organized fashion can contribute to the time required to “make the bed” in the morning. As many people who are preparing for work in the morning do not have time to “make the bed”, messy beds do not often get made if the process takes more than a few minutes.

In several environments, it is often desirable for one person to keep track of another individual throughout the night. For example, a parent might like to ensure that a child who has a sleepwalking disorder does not get out of bed and risk injury by walking throughout the house. Also, it is often desirable for hospitals and institutions to secure patients to beds for safety purposes. Further, it is also desirable to have a means to become aware of when a person does get out of the bed. The current bed covering devices do not provide for the ability to safely and humanely secure a person within a bed such that they are free to move around within the bed.

Therefore, there is a need for a bed covering device that can provide protection from environmental conditions, can eliminate the disheveling of the sheets and blankets during sleep, can provide for the ability to safely secure a person within a bed such that they are free to move around within the bed, and can notify another person when the bed occupant has gotten up and out of the bed.

In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail it is to be understood that the embodiments of the invention are not limited in their application to the details of construction and to the arrangement of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The embodiments of the invention are capable of being practiced and carried out in various ways. In addition, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
