Description
BACKGROUND

1. Technical Field

The present disclosure is directed to an advantageous multi-purpose, dual strap and belt system that facilitates ready access to a variety of attachments and, more particularly, to a multi-purpose, dual strap and belt system that includes attachment features for releasably securing tools or accessories to the dual strap and belt system. The disclosed multi-purpose, dual strap and belt system has particular application for outdoors-related activities, e.g., fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain climbing or the like.

2. Background Art

Straps for a transporting device (e.g., bags, containers, pouches, boxes or the like) for outdoors-related activities are known. Many transporting devices for outdoors-related activities are designed or manufactured with straps to impart, for example, improved carrying and/or handling characteristics to the transporting device.

For certain outdoors activities, a transporting device having a strap designed with padding is preferred, whereas in other applications, a transporting device having a strap designed with no padding is desired. Straps for a transporting device are made out of a variety of materials, and the straps may have strap lengths and widths of various sizes, with strap designs generally developed to accommodate specific needs and/or environmental factors. Thus, as is readily apparent, strap manufacture for use with a transporting device is highly specialized in the outdoor industry.

In various outdoors-related activities, it is desirable to have a belt attached to the activity participant, with the belt having tools or accessories connected to the belt, and where the tools or accessories are readily accessible to the activity participant. For example, fisherman are frequently confronted with the need for ready access to tools or accessories such as, for example, a knife, a pair of pliers, or terminal tackle. Similarly, there are instances in climbing/hiking activities where ready access to a tool or accessory is highly beneficial, e.g., when it is desirable to have ready access to a knife, a carabiner, or the like.

Belts for outdoor activities take many forms. Sheaths or holders or the like for some tools and/or accessories are generally available for use in conjunction with many belts for outdoor activities. In general, sheaths or holders or the like slide or clip over the belt and provide a housing or holding space for the tool or accessory.

However, sheaths or holders or the like are not available for every tool or accessory desired by the activity participant. For example, in the fishing field, sheaths or holders or the like for use in conjunction with belts are not available for every tool or accessory needed by the fisherman. For example, fisherman often attempt to keep needed tools or accessories close-at-hand when fishing (e.g., tackle and/or terminal tackle, etc.), so as to permit ready access and use. However, current practice allows for a risk that such items will not be within reach when needed, thereby placing the fisherman at risk of wasting valuable fishing time and/or losing a fish on the line. In addition, some fishermen, for example, wading, surf-casting or offshore fishermen, often need a place to hold an item (e.g., fishing rod, gaff or surf casting accessory) while using their hands for some other activity (e.g., changing a lure, releasing a fish).

In addition, the belts themselves are often unavailable to the activity participant. For example, in the fishing field, offshore or wading fisherman who have forgotten, lost or damaged their belt often will be very far distances from retrieving or replacing their belt. Similarly, hikers or climbers who have lost, damaged or forgotten their belt often will be very far distances from retrieving or replacing their belt. Thus, current practice allows for a risk that a needed tool or accessory (e.g., knife, carabiner, etc.) will not be readily accessible to the activity participant. For example, experienced fishermen generally keep a line-cutting knife close-at-hand when fishing offshore. However, current practice allows for a risk that a line-cutting knife will not be within reach when needed, thereby placing the fisherman at risk of being pulled overboard by a strong fish.

Thus, despite efforts to date, a need remains for systems/designs for a strap for a transporting device that can also function as a belt for outdoors-related activities, where the multi-purpose, dual strap and belt system/design includes attachment features for releasably securing tools or accessories to the dual strap and belt system/design, and where the tools or accessories are readily accessible to the activity participant.

These and other needs are satisfied by the disclosed multi-purpose, dual strap and belt system/design, as described in detail herein below.
