Description
CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION(S)

This application claims the benefit of Korean U.M. Application No. 20-2007-15646, filed on Sep. 19, 2007, entitled “raincoat in a form of cloak”, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety into this application.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to cloak-type raincoats and, more particularly, to a cloak-type raincoat, which can be rapidly wrapped around the upper portion of a body when it rains or snows suddenly, thus preventing garments and personal belongings carried by a user from becoming wet, and which enables the user wearing the raincoat to move without suffering inconvenience.

2. Description of the Related Art

Generally, a raincoat is worn over outer garments so as to prevent the garments or personal belongings from getting wet from falling rain or snow.

Such a raincoat is produced using a material having superior waterproof effect, such as Gore-Tex. In order to arouse customers' interest, various colors are applied to the raincoat, and in addition, various designs are printed on the raincoat.

Thus, such a raincoat prevents garments and personal belongings from becoming wet when it rains or snows suddenly. The conventional raincoat has the form of a garment, so that it is put on in the same manner that the garment is put on. However, the arms may not fit well into sleeves of the raincoat, so that it is inconvenient to wear the raincoat. Further, even when the raincoat is taken off, the sleeves of the raincoat are rolled to the inside, thus inconveniencing a user.

Further, the conventional garment-type raincoat is problematic in that the sleeves are formed on the outer portion of the raincoat, so that the hands and personal belongings held in the hands are exposed to the outside, and thereby, the hands and the personal belongings inevitably get wet from the rain or snow.

In order to solve the problem, Korean U.M. Appln. No. 20-1996-26502 (cited document 1) has been proposed, which was published on Aug. 17, 1996 and is entitled “raincoat”. According to the prior art, the upper end of the raincoat is closed, and only the front of a hood for covering the head is open. Thus, after the lower end of the raincoat is spread using the hands, the head, the upper body, and the lower body sequentially pass through the spread lower end, so that a user has put on the raincoat.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

However, the raincoat of the cited document 1 must be put on over the head and lowered over the body by a user when he or she wears the raincoat, so that it is inconvenient to put on the raincoat. The lower ends of the raincoat are in close contact with each other, so that the lower ends may not be easily separated from each other. While the raincoat is put on the user in a direction from the lower end to the upper end of the raincoat, the raincoat may be rolled to the inside or may not be easily put over the user, so that it takes a long time to put on the raincoat. Thus, garments and personal belongings held in the hands may become wet from rain or snow.

Further, since the raincoat is constructed so that it is taken off over the head by a user, it is also very inconvenient to take off the raincoat.

Therefore, the present invention has been made in an effort to provide a cloak-type raincoat, which can be rapidly worn by wrapping the raincoat around a body, thus efficiently preventing garments or personal belongings from becoming wet from falling rain or snow.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a cloak-type raincoat according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a rear view illustrating the cloak-type raincoat according to the present invention, in which a reflective film is attached to the raincoat; and

FIG. 3 is a front view illustrating the state in which the cloak-type raincoat according to the present invention is opened.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Hereinafter, the preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a cloak-type raincoat according to the embodiment of the present invention. The drawing illustrates the state in which the cloak-type raincoat including a sheet member and a hood is wrapped around a body, so that a user can wear the raincoat.

FIG. 2 is a rear view illustrating the cloak-type raincoat according to the present invention, in which a reflective film is attached to the raincoat. In the drawing, the reflective film is attached to the back surface of the sheet member in such a way as to extend in a horizontal direction.

FIG. 3 is a front view illustrating the state in which the cloak-type raincoat according to the present invention is opened. As shown in the drawing, a collar adjusting part and a breast adjusting part are formed on the sheet member which is open at a front thereof. In order to fasten the collar adjusting part and the breast adjusting part to the sheet member, fastening means are provided on the collar adjusting part or the breast adjusting part and the sheet member to correspond to each other.

That is, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the cloak-type raincoat 1 according to the present invention functions to prevent garments and personal belongings from getting wet when it rains or snows suddenly.

To this end, the cloak-type raincoat 1 is made of a waterproof material. A sheet member 10 is manufactured using the waterproof material.

That is, the sheet member 10 of the cloak-type raincoat 1 according to the present invention is made of the waterproof material. More preferably, the sheet member 10 has the thickness of 0.05 mm. Thus, when a user wears the raincoat, the raincoat is very light, so that he or she does not feel the weight of the raincoat and thereby does not feel fatigue or inconvenience when he or she moves or acts.

Polyethylene is the most suitable material for making the sheet member 10 to have the thickness of 0.05 mm.

Further, the length of the sheet member 10 is determined such that the sheet member 10 sufficiently surrounds a region from the upper body to parts of the lower body, that is, the knees. More preferably, the raincoat is formed to flare out from the upper portion to the lower portion of the raincoat, so that rain or snow naturally falls to the ground along the inclined sheet member 10.

The front of the sheet member 10 is open so that the raincoat 1 is wrapped around the upper body. A collar adjusting part 11 and a breast adjusting part 12 are provided on the front of the sheet member 10. Fastening means 13 are provided on the collar adjusting part 11 and the breast adjusting part 12. The fastening means 13 are engaged with each other to close the open front of the sheet member 10.

The fastening means 13 comprise snap fasteners permitting easy locking and unlocking, buttons, Velcro fasteners, etc. Any one of the snap fasteners, buttons, or Velcro fasteners may be used as the fastening means. However, in order to achieve rapid locking and unlocking, the snap fasteners are the most preferable.

Thus, the cloak-type raincoat 1 according to the present invention is wrapped around the upper body in the state where the front of the sheet member 10 is open, when a user puts on the raincoat 1. In this state, the raincoat 1 is fastened using the fastening means 13 which is provided on the collar adjusting part 11, thus preventing falling rain or snow from entering the interior of the sheet member 10 through a neck portion.

Further, the breast adjusting part 12 which is located under the collar adjusting part 11 is closed using the fastening means 13, thus preventing garments or personal belongings from becoming wet from rain or snow driving inside the raincoat from the frontal direction.

Here, the lower end of the front of the sheet member 10 is not closed, so that it can be freely flapped. Such a construction prevents a user from feeling inconvenience when the user wraps the sheet member 10 around his or her body to wear the raincoat 1 and then moves.

In order to enhance mobility and activity, creases 14 are formed on the sheet member 10 according to the present invention. Thus, when a user moves or performs an action, the folded portions of the creases 14 are unfolded, thus enlarging the internal space enclosed by the sheet member 10.

Thus, personal belongings carried by a user are not in contact with part of the body, that is, the legs or knees, so that the user can act without suffering inconvenience. Further, the creases 14 can provide a good appearance, thus arousing customers' interest.

Meanwhile, a hood 15 is provided on the upper end of the sheet member 10 to cover the head, thus preventing the head from getting wet by rain or snow.

As shown in the imaginary line of FIG. 3, after both ends of the hood 15 are held and pulled inwards, the ends are folded. The contact parts of the folded ends are sewn, thus defining a holding space 16 for holding the head.

Here, the hood 15 may extend integrally from the sheet member 10. However, after the hood 15 is manufactured separately from the sheet member 10, the hood 15 may be coupled to the sheet member 10 if necessary.

A first reflective film 20 is attached to the wide portion of the upper surface of the hood 15 in a longitudinal direction thereof. A second reflective film 21 is made of the same material as the first reflective film 20 attached to the hood 15 and is attached to a back or shoulder portion of the back surface of the sheet member 10 in such a way as to extend in a horizontal direction.

The reflective films 20 and 21 are provided because it is very difficult to ensure visibility by a driver in regards to distinguishing an object or person situated in the front or backside of a car when it is raining or snowing at night, compared to normal conditions.

Further, if a driver drives a car in bad weather, as in the rain or snow, the driver's discriminating power and concentration are lowered, so that accidents may occur frequently. Thus, compared to normal conditions, the possibility of accidents is increased.

Thus, the first and second reflective films 20 and 21 are attached, respectively, to the hood 15 and the sheet member 10, thus catching a driver's attention, therefore ensuring a wearer's safety when he or she walks at night.

The cloak-type raincoat 1 including the hood 15 and the sheet member 10 is manufactured using a transparent material, thus providing a refined appearance. Especially since the hood 15 is transparent, it is easy to ensure visibility when a user walks, thus ensuring pedestrians' safety.

Meanwhile, when it stops raining or snowing, so that the cloak-type raincoat 1 according to the present invention is not being used, water is removed from the sheet member 10 and the hood 15, and the fastening means 13 provided on the collar adjusting part 11 and the breast adjusting part 12 are sequentially pulled to be separated from each other. After that, the raincoat 1 is folded in orderly fashion and is carried or stored.

As described above, the present invention provides a cloak-type raincoat, which is worn by wrapping the raincoat around the upper body, thus allowing the raincoat to be rapidly put on, thereby preventing garments or personal belongings from becoming wet even if it should rain or snow suddenly.

Further, the upper and front portions of the raincoat are closed off by a collar adjusting part and a breast adjusting part, but the lower portion of the raincoat is open and in addition has creases, so that it is very convenient for a wearer to move or perform actions.

Furthermore, the cloak-type raincoat is made of a transparent waterproof material, thus providing a refined appearance, and easily ensuring visibility, therefore guaranteeing a user's safety during walking.

Further, reflective films are attached to the upper surface of a hood and the back surface of a sheet member, thus allowing a driver to distinguish a wearer when he or she walks at night, thereby reducing the possibility of an accident. Furthermore, the raincoat has the very small thickness of 0.05 mm. Thus, when the raincoat is not in use, water is removed from the raincoat, and even if the raincoat is folded several times, the volume of the raincoat is small, so that it is convenient to carry and store the raincoat.
