A heat dissipating fin has a skirt having distal and proximal edges formed on at least one edge of the heat dissipating fin and multiple fastening components. Each fastening component is formed on the skirt and abuts the fringe of an adjacent the heat dissipating fin and has a hook and a hook mount. The hook is formed on and protrudes from the distal edge of the skirt. The hook mount is formed in the proximal edge of the skirt and corresponds to the hook. Since the hook is easily mounted through the hook mount the heat dissipating fins can be fabricated to form a heat sink easily to reduce manufacturing costs.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a heat dissipating fin, especially for a heat dissipating fin and heat sink formed therefrom to reduced manufacturing costs.

2. Description of the Prior Arts

With reference to FIG. 9, multiple heat dissipating fins (90) in accordance with the prior art are disposed in parallel and each heat dissipating fin (90) has two opposite edges and two pairs of fastening mounts (91). The pairs of fastening mounts (91) are respectively formed on and protrude perpendicularly from the opposite edges of the heat dissipating fin (90) and each fastening mount (91) has a protrusion (92) and a cavity (93). The protrusion (92) is formed on the fastening mount (91). The cavity (93) defining the fastening mount (91) corresponds and opposite to the protrusion (92) of the fastening mount (91). When the heat dissipating fins (90) are formed into a heat sink, the protrusion (92) of the fastening mount (91) of one heat dissipating fin (90) is mounted on a corresponding cavity (93) of the fastening mount (91) of an adjacent heat dissipating fin (90).

However, due to the protrusions (92) and cavities (93) of the fastening mount (91) are easily loosened so the heat dissipating fins (90) may be accidentally separated during production, transportation and distribution of the heat sink.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a heat dissipating fin for a heat sink to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the present invention is to provide a heat dissipating fin and heat sink formed therefrom, especially for a heat dissipating fin that can reduce manufacturing costs.

A heat dissipating fin in accordance with the present invention has a skirt having distal and proximal edges formed on at least one edge of the fin and multiple fastening components. Each fastening component is formed on the skirt and abuts the fringe of an adjacent heat dissipating fin and has a hook and a hook mount. The hook is formed on and protrudes from the distal edge of the skirt. The hook mount is formed in the proximal edge of the skirt and corresponds to the hook. Since the hook is easily mounted through the hook mount the heat dissipating fins can be fabricated to form a heat sink easily to reduce manufacturing costs.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 9 is a partially exploded perspective view of a heat sink in accordance with the prior art comprising multiple heat dissipating fins in accordance with the prior art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to FIGS. 1, 5 and 8, a heat sink in accordance with the present invention comprises multiple heat dissipating fins (10A, 10B, 10C) in accordance with the present invention disposed parallelly and securely connected to adjacent heat dissipating fins (10A, 10B, 10C). Each heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C) has at least one edge, at least one skirt (12A, 12C), at least one set of at least one fastening component (13A, 13B, 13C) and may have at least one through hole (11A, 11B) and at least one sleeve (110).

The at least one skirt (12A, 12C) is formed on and protrudes respectively from the at least one edge of dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C), may extend along the entire edge of the fin (10A, 10B, 10C) and each skirt (12A, 12C) has a distal edge, a proximal edge. Two opposite edges may be implemented and two skirts (12, 12C) are implemented being respectively formed on the opposite edges.

With further reference to FIGS. 2 to 4, 6 and 7, the least one set of the at least one fastening component (13A, 13B, 13C) is formed respectively on and corresponds respectively to the at least one skirt (12, 12C) of the heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C) and respectively abuts the at least one skirt (12, 12C) of an adjacent heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C). Each fastening component (13A, 13B, 13C) has a hook (14A, 10B, 10C), a guide panel (16A, 16C) and a hook mount (15A, 15B, 15C). The hook (14A, 14B, 14C) is formed on and protrudes from the distal edge of a corresponding skirt (12, 12C), selectively hooks on one edge of an adjacent heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C) and may be parallel with or oblique to the fin (10). The guide panel (16A, 16C) is formed on and protrudes from the distal edge of the corresponding skirt (12, 12C). The hook mount (16A, 15B, 15C) is formed in the proximal edge of the corresponding skirt (12, 12C) and corresponds to and selectively receives one hook (14A, 14B, 14C) of the adjacent heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C) and may further correspond to and receive a guide panel (16A, 16C) of the adjacent heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B, 10C). The guide panels (16A, 16C) allow easy alignment of the fins (10A, 10B, 10C) to facilitate mounting the hook (14A, 14B, 14C) in the hook mount (15A, 15B, 15C) and secure the fins (10A, 10B, 10C) to one another.

The at least one though hole (11A, 11B) is formed through the fin (10A, 10B). The at least one sleeve (110) is formed respectively around the at least one through hole (11A, 11B), protrudes from the fin (10A, 10B) and may abut a corresponding sleeve of an adjacent fin (10A, 10B).

When the heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B) is implemented with two edges, two skirts (12) are respectively formed on the edges. At least one fastening component (13A, 13B) is formed on each skirt (12). At least one through hole (11A, 11B) is formed through the fin (10A, 10B). At least one sleeve (110) is formed respectively around the at least one through hole (11A, 11B) and protrudes from the fin (10A, 10B).

In a first embodiment of the heat sink, the skirt (12) may extend along the entire edge and each fastening component (13A) may comprise a hook (14A) parallel with the fin (10A), an arched guide panel (16A) and a curved hook mount (15A), as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Alternatively, in a second embodiment of the heat sink, each fastening component (13B) may comprise a hook (14B) oblique to the fin (10B) and a quadrangular hook mount (15B), as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7. Furthermore, the heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B) may be further have at least one heat pipe (20) and each heat pipe (10) is mounted through one sleeve (110) to make the heat dissipating fin (10A, 10B) to form aligned arrangement.

In a third embodiment of the heat sink, the heat dissipating fin (10C) is implemented with a singular edge, two skirts (12C) may be formed on the edge and extends the entire edge, two fastening components (13C) are formed respectively on the skirts (12C), as shown in FIG. 8. Each fastening component (13C) comprises a hook (14C) parallel with the fin (10C), an arched guide panel (16C) and a curved hook mount (15C). Furthermore, the heat dissipating fin (10C) with one edge may be further mounted in a frame (21C) to form a heat sink to ensure the fins (10) are aligned and facilitate mounting of the heat sink.

Multiple heat dissipating fins (10A, 10B, 10C) are aligned and assembled by inserting the hook (14A, 14B, 14C) of one fastening component (13A, 13B, 13C) into the hook mount (15A, 15B, 15C) of an adjacent fastening component (13A, 13B, 13C). The heat sink of the present invention can be assembled quickly, easily and securely for increased production rate so lowering costs. Furthermore, an arrangement of the fastening components (13A, 13B, 13C) adds a pleasing aesthetic.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A heat dissipating fin comprising at least one edge; at least one skirt being formed on and protruding respectively from the at least one edge and each skirt having a proximal and distal edge; and

at least one set of at least one fastening component being formed respectively and corresponding respectively to the at least one skirt of the heat dissipating fin, and each fastening component having a hook being formed on and protruding from the distal edge of a corresponding skirt; and a hook mount being formed in the proximal edge of the corresponding skirt and corresponding to the hook of the fastening component.

2. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 1, wherein the heat dissipating fin has two opposite edges and two skirts are respectively formed on the two edges.

3. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 2, wherein two fastening components are respectively formed on the skirts.

4. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 3, wherein each fastening component further has a guide panel being formed on and protruding from the distal edge of the corresponding skirt.

5. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 4, wherein the hook is obliquely with the fin.

6. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 4, wherein the hook of each fastening component is parallel with the fin.

7. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 5, wherein the heat dissipating fin further comprises

at least one through hole being formed through the fin; and
at least one sleeve being formed respectively around the at least one through hole and protruding from the heat dissipating fin.

8. The heat dissipating fin as claimed in claim 6, wherein the heat dissipating fin further comprises

at least one through hole being formed through the fin; and
at least one sleeve being formed respectively around the at least one through hole and protruding from the heat dissipating fin.

9. A heat sink comprising multiple heat dissipating fins being disposed parallelly and securely connected to adjacent heat dissipating fins and each heat dissipating fin having

at least one edge;
at least one skirt being formed on and protruding respectively from the at least one edge and each skirt having a proximal and distal edge; and
at least one set of least one fastening component being formed respectively on and corresponding respectively to the at least one skirt of the heat dissipating fin and each fastening component having
a hook being formed on and protruding from the distal edge of the corresponding skirt and selectively hooking on one edge of an adjacent heat dissipating fin; and
a hook mount being formed in the proximal edge of the corresponding skirt, corresponding to the hook of the fastening component and selectively receiving the hook of an adjacent heat dissipating fin.

10. The heat sink as claim 9, wherein each heat dissipating fin has two opposite edges and two skirts being formed respectively on the edges.

11. The heat sink as claim 10, wherein two fastening component are respectively formed on the skirts.

12. The heat sink as claimed in claim 11, wherein each fastening component further has a guide panel being formed on and protruding from the distal edge of the corresponding skirt.

13. The heat sink as claimed in claim 12, wherein the hook of each fastening component is obliquely with the fin.

14. The heat sink as claimed in claim 12, wherein the hook of each fastening component is parallel with the fin.

15. The heat sink as claimed in claim 13, wherein each heat dissipating fin further comprises

at least one through hole being formed through the fin; and at least one sleeve being formed respectively around the at least one through hole and protruding from the heat dissipating fin.

16. The heat sink as claimed in claim 14, wherein each heat dissipating fin further comprises at least one through hole being formed through the fin; and

at least one sleeve being formed respectively around the at least one through hole and protruding from the heat dissipating fin.

17. The heat sink as claimed in claim 15, wherein each heat dissipating fin further has at least one heat pipe and each heat pipe is mounted through one sleeve.

18. The heat sink as claimed in claim 16, wherein each heat dissipating fin further has at least one heat pipe and each heat pipe is mounted through one sleeve.

19. The heat sink as claimed in claim 13, wherein the heat dissipating fins are mounted in a frame.

20. The heat sink as claimed in claim 14, wherein the heat dissipating fins are mounted in a frame.
