Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to receptacles and containers for carrying, storing, or transporting objects, and particularly to a transparent handbag for holding a plurality of personal items.

2. Description of the Related Art

It always seems that when time is of essence, a needed item cannot be located in one's large handbag. Retrieval of cash or credit cards at the checkout counter of the grocery or department store, finding the fare card at the subway or bus stop, locating an important receipt or document when needed, finding a pacifier when a distraught infant needs soothing, etc., are all situations that commonly occur and frequently produce frustration and angst when the needed item cannot be readily located in the large handbag or the like. There are many large handbags in the related art that have compartments for the storage of various items therein. However, the problem of quick and easy retrieval still exists in that the desired item(s) cannot be readily seen. The handbag industry would certainly welcome a system that would allow an easy way to visually inspect items stored in a large hand bag to effect efficient retrieval thereof. Thus, a transparent handbag solving the aforementioned problems is desired.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The transparent handbag is an inner handbag for holding selected personal items that would normally be loosely placed in a larger bag or receptacle. The transparent, inner handbag is adapted to be inserted in a larger receptacle, such as a purse, a larger handbag, luggage, backpack or similar receptacles. Since the inner handbag is transparent, items stored therein can be quickly and easily identified. The inner handbag may include a small, opaque private pocket for housing items that need not be seen. A zipper with an attached wristlet is provided to open or close the inner bag. A zipper or similar fastener is also provided to open or close the private pocket.

Accordingly, the invention presents a handbag that permits a user to view the contents thereof without opening the handbag. Adapted to be inserted and carried in larger bags or the like, the handbag is uniquely designed to be durable and fashionable. The handbag will be made in various sizes to enhance versatility. The invention provides for improved elements thereof in an arrangement for the purposes described that are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.

These and other features of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1-3, an exemplary transparent handbag 10 comprises a housing (or bag, pouch, sack, etc.) including an inner volume encompassed by one or more walls 12. Walls 12 are fabricated from a durable, high-quality, transparent material. Preferably the material will be clear or colored plastic. However, other materials may be utilized if found suitable. A handle member 14 may extend from the top of the handbag 10. The handle member 14 may be fabricated from leather or fabric, and may define an elongated slot or hole that a user may insert her fingers through to grasp or carry the handbag 10. It will be understood, however, that the handle member 14 is optional (e.g., the handbag 10 may simple have a flap without a handle member 14), and when present, the handle member 14 may have a different configuration (e.g., one or more straps extending across opposite sides of the top of the handbag 10).

An opening 16 is defined in the housing below the handle member 14 for accessing the interior of the handbag 10. A zipper closure member 18 or other fastener closes opening 16. A wristlet 20 is attached to zipper 18 to enhance manipulation thereof. A strap or wristlet 20 also functions as an alternative handle for a user U. A private pocket member 22 may be disposed on the outer surface of one of the walls 12. The private pocket 22 is fabricated from an opaque material and is provided with an opening 24 closable by a zipper 26. It should be recognized that other types of closure devices, i.e., hook and loop, may be utilized in lieu of zippers 18 and 26. The handle member 14 and private pocket member 22 are coordinated (color, leather or fabric) for a chic, fashionable look.

Referring to FIG. 4, the handbag 10 is shown receiving personal items 30 to be stored therein. The walls 12 of the handbag 10 may be flexible so that the handbag 10 can be folded or slouched down, if necessary. FIG. 5 shows the handbag being inserted in a larger bag B. It should be noted that several handbags 10 filled with various items could be inserted into the larger bag B.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
