When the weight of the golf club head is limited, a large golf club head can be achieved by using the alloy of the present invention so that the shape and design of the golf club head can be made with different types.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There are many prior art about low density high extendable alloy for making head of a golf club. All these prior art golf club heads are manufactured from an alloy which includes different ratio of Al, Cr, Ni, W, C, Si, and Mn. These alloys are used to make a golf club head by forging, in that pressures are used to change the shape of an alloy so as to achieve a special requirement in making the head. The process is too complicated so that the cost is high and manufacturing time is long.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention provides a low density high ductility alloy used in manufacturing of a golf club head. The alloy has preferred tensile strength, yield strength, anti-corrosion, and high ductility.

To achieve above object, the present invention provides a low density high ductility alloy used in manufacturing of golf club head which is composed of 31 to 36 w. t. % of Manganese (Mn), 6 to 10 w. t. % of Aluminum (Al), 0.3 to 1 w. t. % of Carbon (C), 4 to 8 w. t. % of Chromium (Cr), 0.2 to 0.6 w. t. % of Silicon (Si), and other component is iron (ferrum (Fe)).

The density of the alloy is 6.8˜7 g/cm3. The elongation of the alloy is from 33 to 55.4%. The tensile strength of the alloy is 61 to 67% f/mm2. The yield strength of the alloy is greater than 35 kgf/mm2.

In the structure of the present invention, the amounts of Al, Mn, and C are well controlled, the tensile strength can be as high as 61˜67 kgf/mm2. Besides, the yield strength is greater than 35 kgf/mm2. Thus the alloy of the present invention is suitable for manufacturing a golf club head. The density of the alloy is 6.8˜7 g/cm3 with an elongation of 33 to 55.4%. When the weight of a golf club is limited, a large golf club head can be achieved so that the shape and design of the golf club head can be made with different types. The alloy includes chromium with preferred property in anti-corrosion and the manufacturing cost is low. The alloy includes chromium with preferred property in ductility. Si, Mn, Cr, C and Fe are mixed with proper ratio so that the alloy is suitable for making golf club rod with preferred tensile strength, ductility and yield strength.

The various objects and advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood from the following detailed description when read in conjunction with the appended drawing.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows the ratio of the elements of a low density high ductility alloy for making a golf club head of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In order that those skilled in the art can further understand the present invention, a description will be provided in the following in details. However, these descriptions and the appended drawings are only used to cause those skilled in the art to understand the objects, features, and characteristics of the present invention, but not to be used to confine the scope and spirit of the present invention defined in the appended claims.

The present invention relates to a low density high ductility alloy for using in a golf club head. Referring to FIG. 1, the alloy is composed of 31 to 36 w. t. % of Manganese (Mn), 6 to 10 w. t. % of Aluminum (Al), 0.3 to 1 w. t. % of Carbon (C), 4 to 8 w. t. % of Chromium (Cr), 0.2 to 0.6 w. t. % of Silicon (Si), and other component is iron (ferrum (Fe)).

The density of the alloy is 6.8˜7 g/cm3 with an elongation of 33 to 55.4%. The tensile strength of the alloy is 61 to 67% f/mm2 with a yield strength greater than 35 kgf/mm2.

In the following, we will explain the properties of the components of the alloy one by one.

Manganese (Mn) is easy to combine with Sulfur (S) for preventing the harmful effect of the sulfur to the alloy. The manganese can remove the oxide in the alloy. The manganese will combine with carbon so as to increase the strength and hardness of the alloy.

Aluminum is a preferred deoxidizer. Other than suppressing the growth of the crystal particles to form with distributed oxides or nitrides, the ductility and flexibility of the alloy can be promoted effectively.

Carbon can generate carbide.

Chromium can prevent the alloy from corrosion and oxidization and increase the hardness and strength in high temperature.

Silicon serves to prevent the alloy from generating air holes and increase the effect of compression.

From above property, the low density high ductility alloy for making a golf club head according to the present invention has the following advantages.

1. Tensile strength: As the amounts of Al, Mn, and C are well controlled, the tensile strength thereof can achieve the value of 61˜67 kgf/mm2. Besides, the yield strength is greater than 35 kgf/mm2. Thus the alloy of the present invention is suitable for the manufacturing of a golf club head.

2. Low density: The density of the alloy is 6.8˜7g/cm3 with an elongation of 33 to 55.4%. When the weight is limited, a large golf club head can be achieved so that the shape and design of the golf club head can be made with different types.

3. Anti-corrosion: The alloy includes chromium with preferred property in anti-corrosion and the manufacturing cost is low.

4. Ductility: The alloy includes chromium with preferred property in ductility.

5. Si, Mn, Cr, C and Fe are mixed with proper ratio so that the alloy is suitable for making golf club rod with preferred tensile strength, ductility and yield strength.

The present invention is thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
