MULTIFUNCTIONAL WORKSTATION APPARATUS

The present invention is a multifunctional workstation apparatus that includes a base table, a pair of attachment arms that are attached to the base table and a pair of extendible trays with a utilizable surface that are attached to the attachment arms. The apparatus also includes a storage bin disposed below the base table, one or more drink holders disposed on the base table and a remote control holder disposed on the base table. The apparatus can be utilized with a vehicle and can also include a stem and base attached to the base table to be utilized in a user's living room or den.

Description
TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND

Traditional tables and desks are manufactured to stand alone in areas throughout a home. Currently there are limited alternatives of workstations designed to allow individuals to complete various activities with relative ease while seated on a couch or in a vehicle.

The present invention generally relates to a workstation apparatus. More specifically, the invention is a multifunctional workstation apparatus.

It is an object of the invention to provide a multifunctional workstation apparatus that can be utilized in a living room or a den environment with a sofa, a loveseat or a relatively large chair.

It is an object of the invention to provide a multifunctional workstation apparatus that can also be utilized with a seatbelt within a vehicle.

It is an object of the invention to provide a multifunctional workstation apparatus that is convenient, affordable, adjustable and light-weight.

What is really needed is a multifunctional workstation apparatus that can be utilized in a living room or den environment with a sofa, a loveseat or a relatively large chair that can also be utilized with a seatbelt within a vehicle that is convenient, affordable, adjustable and light-weight.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention. However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is utilized repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

FIG. 1A illustrates an overhead perspective view of a multifunctional workstation apparatus 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 includes a base table 110, a pair of attachment arms 120, a pair of extendible trays 130, a storage bin 140, one or more drink holders 150 and a remote control holder 160. The base table 110 has a top portion 112 with an upper portion 114, a bottom portion 116 and a pair of sides 118. The attachment arms 120 have a distal end 122 and a proximal end 124 and are attached to the sides 118 of the base table 110 with an individual attachment arm 120 attached to an individual said side 118. The attachment arms 120 are folded downward or extended outward as desired by a user. The proximal ends 124 of the attachment arms 120 are attached to the sides 118 of the base table 110. The extendible trays 130 are attached to the distal ends 124 of the attachment arms 120 and can be utilized with one or more books, one or more laptops, to eat food off of or to be utilized for any other suitable activity. The storage bin 140 is disposed below the upper portion 114 of the top portion 112 of the base table 110. The storage bin 140 can contain magazines, yarn and needles and/or any other suitable item or plurality of items, particularly items utilized in a living room or den by a user. The one or more drink holders 150 are disposed on the top portion 112 of the base table 110. FIG. 1A illustrates two drink holders 150 disposed on the top portion 112 of the base table 110. However one or more drink holders 150, such as one or three or more drink holders 150 can also be disposed on the top portion 112 of the base table 110. The remote control holder 160 is also disposed on the top portion 112 of the base table 110. FIG. 1A illustrates the remote control holder 160 disposed between the two drink holders 150, however the remote control holder 160 can be disposed anywhere on the top portion 112 of the base table 110 and in any suitable orientation with the one or more two drink holders 150. The remote control holder 160 can also hold any other suitable items in addition to a remote control device. This embodiment of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 can be placed on a horizontal surface such as a table or set on a user's lap to be utilized as desired.

FIG. 1B illustrates a front perspective view of a multifunctional workstation apparatus 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 includes all of the components and features of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 described in FIG. 1A such as the base table 110, the pair of attachment arms 120, the pair of extendible trays 130, the storage bin 140, the one or more drink holders 150 and the remote control holder 160. The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 also includes a stem 170 and a base 180. The stem 170 includes a distal end 171 and a proximal end 173. The proximal end 173 of the stem 170 is attached to the bottom portion 116 of the base table 110. The stem 170 is a telescoping stem 172 that can adjustably set the predetermined height of the base table 110. The telescoping stem 172 utilizes a corresponding set of a plurality of apertures 174 and a pin 176 to set the height of the base table 110. The pin 176 can be any suitable type of pin that is inserted into the corresponding set of apertures 174 such as a cotter pin to secure the base table 110 height. The base 180 includes a plurality of horizontal supports 182 that can be in any suitable orientation. The base 180 is attached to the distal end 171 of the stem 170 and provides stability to the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100. The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 is made of plastic material however the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 can be made of other suitable material as well.

FIG. 1C illustrates an overhead perspective view of an expanded multifunctional workstation apparatus 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 includes all of the components and features of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 described in FIG. 1A such as the base table 110, the pair of attachment arms 120, the pair of extendible trays 130, the storage bin 140, the one or more drink holders 150 and the remote control holder 160. In FIG. 1C, the extendible trays 130 are extended from the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100. Additionally, the extendible trays 130 also include a horizontal pullout extension 132 to extend and increase the utilizable surfacing of the extendible trays 130. The extendible trays 130 can also be retracted or folded back downward as desired by a user.

FIG. 1D illustrates a side perspective view of a multifunctional workstation apparatus 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 includes all of the components and features of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 described in FIG. 1A such as the base table 110, the pair of attachment arms 120, the pair of extendible trays 130, the storage bin 140, the one or more drink holders 150 and the remote control holder 160. These components of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 can be separated from the stem 170 and base 180 illustrated in FIG. 1B and utilized in a car, a truck, a van or other suitable vehicle. This embodiment of the multifunctional workstation apparatus 100 further includes a cutout slot 190 that runs through the bottom portion 116 of the base table 110. The cutout slot 190 accommodates and receives a seatbelt from the vehicle that is inserted through the cutout slot 190 to secure the base table 110 to a seat corresponding with the seatbelt inserted through the base table 110. The secured base table 110 can be similarly utilized within the vehicle to utilize a variety of desired items in the vehicle such as a map, a cell phone, a GPS monitor or other related items.

The multifunctional workstation apparatus is one-piece designed to slide directly under the couch and afford the user a comfortable multipurpose table. Located on both sides of the base table are extendible trays that also serve as laptop tables, which when not in use, fold relatively easily against the sides of the base table. There is a top portion of the base table equipped with a secure lid which includes two drink holders on either side of a remote control holder that can be utilized for remote control devices, cell phones and the like. Well-suited for both children and adults, the multifunctional workstation apparatus will be readily available in a plurality of colors and styles to accommodate a variety of existing home decors. The multifunctional workstation apparatus features a 3 foot×2 foot×3 foot console with an adjustable base frame which allows users to set the unit at the desired height for a relatively high level of comfort. The multifunctional workstation apparatus is lightweight, durable, easy to use and versatile.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.

Claims

1. A multifunctional workstation apparatus, comprising:

a base table that includes a top portion with an upper portion, a bottom portion and a pair of individual sides;
a pair of attachment arms having a distal end and a proximal end that are attached to said sides of said base table;
a pair of extendible trays with an utilizable surface that are attached to said distal ends of said attachment arms;
a storage bin disposed below said upper portion of said top portion of said base table;
one or more drink holders disposed on said top portion of said base table; and
a remote control holder disposed on said top portion of said base table.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein one said proximal end of said attachment arm is attached to one said individual side.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said attachment arms are folded downward or extended outward.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1, said extendible trays include a horizontal pullout extension to extend and increase said utilizable surface of said extendible trays.

5. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said top portion includes two drink holders.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said apparatus is placed on a horizontal surface or set on a user's lap.

7. A multifunctional workstation apparatus utilized with a vehicle, comprising:

a base table that includes a top portion with an upper portion, a bottom portion and a pair of individual sides;
a pair of attachment arms having a distal end and a proximal end that are attached to said sides of said base table;
a pair of extendible trays with an utilizable surface that are attached to said distal ends of said attachment arms;
a storage bin disposed below said upper portion of said top portion of said base table;
one or more drink holders disposed on said top portion of said base table;
a remote control holder disposed on said top portion of said base table; and
a cutout slot disposed on said bottom portion of said base table that extends through said bottom portion of said base table that accommodates and receives a seatbelt from said vehicle that is inserted through said cutout slot to secure said apparatus to a seat corresponding with said seatbelt.

8. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein one said proximal end of said attachment arm is attached to one said individual side.

9. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said attachment arms are folded downward or extended outward.

10. The apparatus according to claim 8, said extendible trays include a horizontal pullout extension to extend and increase said utilizable surface of said extendible trays.

11. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said top portion includes two drink holders.

12. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said remote control holder is disposed between said drink holders.

13. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said apparatus is placed on a horizontal surface or set on a user's lap.

14. A multifunctional workstation apparatus, comprising:

a base table that includes a top portion with an upper portion, a bottom portion and a pair of individual sides;
a pair of attachment arms having a distal end and a proximal end that are attached to said sides of said base table;
a pair of extendible trays with an utilizable surface that are attached to said distal ends of said attachment arms;
a storage bin disposed below said upper portion of said top portion of said base table;
one or more drink holders disposed on said top portion of said base table;
a remote control holder disposed on said top portion of said base table;
a stem that includes a distal end and a proximal end, wherein said proximal end of said stem is attached to said bottom portion of said base table; and
a base that includes a plurality of horizontal supports that are attached to said distal end of said stem and provides stability to said multifunctional workstation apparatus.

15. The apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said proximal ends of said attachment arm is attached to said individual sides.

16. The apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said attachment arms are folded downward or extended outward.

17. The apparatus according to claim 14, said extendible trays include a horizontal pullout extension to extend and increase said utilizable surface of said extendible trays.

18. The apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said top portion includes two drink holders.

19. The apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said stem is a telescoping stem that can adjustably set a predetermined height of said base table.

20. The apparatus according to claim 19, wherein said telescoping stem utilizes a corresponding set of a plurality of apertures and a pin to set said predetermined height of said base table.
