Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a template for use in applying permanent facial cosmetics to eyebrows.

Even on the same face human eyebrows are not identical. While many individuals have eyebrows that are symmetrical in appearance, some individuals have eyebrows that are not symmetrical with the other eyebrow. In applying permanent make-up it is important to provide as much visual balance and symmetry as possible. The present invention provides a stencil that accomplishes with precision the application of permanent eyebrow make-up in less time than the standard procedures currently in place.

It is an object of the invention to provide a combination of standard eyebrow stencils and complimentary hairstroke eyebrow stencils.

It is another object of the invention to provide horizontal and vertical lines on the stencils to coordinate with control lines drawn on the face during the application process.

It is another object of the invention to provide a hairstroke eyebrow stencil that is open to accept color application.

It is another object of the invention to provide an adhesive coating affixed to the stencil to mold the stencil to the face.

It is another object of the invention to have stencils with apertures for the placement of registration points during the make-up procedure.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide new and improved templates for the application of permanent eyebrow make-up.

To attain this, the present invention comprises a base, with an upper surface and lower surface, having an upper edge, a lower edge and first and second outer ends. A generally arcuately shaped passage in the form of a human eyebrow is formed therethrough. A pair of vertical lines is integrally formed from the lower edge to the upper edge. A horizontal line, perpendicular to, and intersecting with, the vertical lines, is formed from the first outer end to the second outer end. The lines provide a reference guide to correspond to lines drawn near the eyebrows of the face by the user during the application process.

A pair of apertures is formed juxtaposed the intersection of the vertical lines and horizontal line. The apertures provide a means to record registration points near the trunk and the tail of the passage.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, strands are integrally formed traversing the passage of the base defining a plurality of slits. An appropriate level of coloring cosmetics can be applied through the slits.

The template is comprised of resilient and flexible material, and preferably has adhesive material affixed to the lower surface. The template is thus easily mounted to the face and temporarily adheres to the skin for optimal eyebrow placement. The user can operate hands free for permanent makeup application.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

For the purposes of the following discussion, it should be noted that the structure of all templates are basically the same, and the opening in the shape of a human eyebrow is not limited to any particular size or dimension, nor unless specifically noted, for use with the right eyebrow or left eyebrow.

Referring to the drawings in general and FIG. 1 in particular, an embodiment of the present invention 10 will now be described in greater detail. A base 12, with an upper surface and a lower surface, has a generally arcuately shaped passage 20 in the form of an eyebrow formed therethrough. The base 12 has an upper edge 14, a lower edge 16, and opposed first and second outer edges 18. The outer edges 18 correspond to the width of the base 12, and the upper edge 14 and lower edge 16 correspond to the length of the base 12. The outer edges 18 are generally rounded in shape to conform to the temple area of the head. The base 12 is composed of flexible and resilient material, such as polyethylene, although other suitable materials are possible. The passage 20 has a trunk section 22, an arch section 24 and a tail section 26. The trunk section 22 relates to, and positioned around, the beginning of the eyebrow closet to the nose, the arch section 24 relates to the inner part of the eyebrow and the tail section 26 relates to the end of the eyebrow furthest from the nose.

A pair of vertical control lines 30 is integrally formed extending transversely from the lower edge 16 to the upper edge 14. A horizontal control line 28, perpendicular to, and intersecting with, the vertical control lines 30, is formed extending longitudinally from the first outer edge to the second outer edge. The lines 28, 30 provide a reference guide to correspond to lines drawn near the eyebrows of the face by a cosmetic make-up specialist during the application process.

The base 12 has a pair of apertures 32 formed therethrough juxtaposed the intersection of the guide lines 28, 30. The apertures 32 permit a cosmetic specialist to place registration points during the application process. Additionally, the base has a pair of holes 34 formed relative to the upper edge 14, the holes dimensioned to accept a barb of an elastic band (not shown). The elastic band attached to the template 10 can be placed around a head for hands free application of make-up.

Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, a second embodiment of the present invention 40 will now be described in greater detail. A base 42, with an upper surface and a lower surface, has a generally arcuately shaped passage 50 in the form of an eyebrow formed therethrough. The base 42 has an upper edge 44, a lower edge 46, and opposed first and second outer edges 48. The passage 50 of FIG. 2a is generally in the shape of a right eyebrow and the passage of FIG. 2b is generally in the shape of a left eyebrow. A horizontal control line 58 and vertical control lines 60, as well as apertures 62 for the marking of registration points, are present.

Adhesive coating material is affixed to the lower surface of the base 42. There is a covering layer 66 with a tab 64 mounted to the base 42. The adhesive material allows the base 42 to be positioned on the face and temporarily attached to the skin during the application process without the need of securement by an elastic band. The tab 62 is pulled to remove the covering layer 66. The adhesive coating material is well known in the prior art.

Referring to FIG. 4 a third embodiment of the present invention 70 will now be described in greater detail. A base 72, with an upper surface and a lower surface, has a generally arcuately shaped passage 80 in the form of an eyebrow formed therethrough. The base 72 has an upper edge 74, a lower edge 76, and opposed first and second outer edges 78. A plurality of strands 82 is formed traversing the passage 80 with slits 84 defined therebetween. A horizontal control line 92 and vertical control lines 94, as well as apertures 96 for the marking of registration points, are present. The strands are formed of polyethylene or other suitable material.

The strands 82 permit the application of makeup powder of varying shades of color to be applied into the slots 84 and presenting a look similar to natural hairs with shades of light and dark tones.

Referring to FIG. 5 a fourth embodiment of the present invention 100 is illustrated. A base 102, with an upper surface and a lower surface, has a generally arcuately shaped passage 110 in the form of an eyebrow formed therethrough. The base 102 has an upper edge 104, a lower edge 106, and opposed first and second outer edges 108. The passage 110 of FIG. 5a is generally in the shape of a right eyebrow and the passage of FIG. 5b is generally in the shape of a left eyebrow. A plurality of strands 118 is formed traversesing the passage 110 with slits 120 defined therebetween. A horizontal control line 122 and vertical control lines 124, as well as apertures 126 for the marking of registration points, are present. Adhesive material is affixed to the lower surface of the base 102, and is accessible by pulling a tab 128.

Proper eyebrow placement and symmetry is determined by placing a thin straight edge such as a ruler, in a vertical position next to a nostril of the nose and straight up next to the inner corner of the eye, continuing through the eyebrow. With a white make-up pencil the position is marked and determines where the eyebrow trunk is to start. In similar fashion the eyebrow tail and eyebrow arch are marked. A horizontal line is also formed with a white make-up pencil from the bottom of one eyebrow trunk to the bottom of the other eyebrow trunk. The lines formed by the white make-up pencil are used as guides to properly place the eyebrow template for marking during the permanent make-up application process by matching with the horizontal control line and vertical control lines of the template.

The template is then placed against the head and the arch of the eyebrow is marked with a red make-up pencil to coincide with the previously marked with a white pencil. The trunk and tail of the eyebrow are similarly marked with red pencil. The red make-up pencil may not be located at the exact beginning of the trunk of the eyebrow because the template is designed for use with many individual eyebrow lengths and shapes. Powder of varying shades is stippled into the open passage.

Once the cosmetic specialist determines that the powder eyebrow is in the proper location, a second template is marked to coincide with the red control lines established on the first template. This template is used to apply further make-up powder.

The apertures on each stencil formed juxtaposed below and to the side of the trunk and tail portion of the eyebrow passage permit the placement of registration points with red makeup pencil just below, and to the side of the trunk and tail of the eyebrow. The registration points aid in the proper placement of subsequent stencils.

The templates, including the templates illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5 (hairstroke template), are used to apply permanent make-up pigment using the control lines and registration points. The hairstroke template is used in conjunction with the first template (left eyebrow templates and right eyebrow templates as needed), and red control lines are marked on the templates.

After topical anesthetic is applied, the hairstroke stencil is placed on the eyebrow using the control lines and registration points. A brush using make-up powder fills the slots creating marked hairstrokes. The template is removed and cleaned. Using the hairstokes as marked, permanent make-up of a particular color pigment choice is applied with a needle.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims attached.

In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description only and should not be regarded as limiting the scope and intent of the invention.
