BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings which disclose at least one embodiment of the present invention. It should be understood, however, that the drawings are designed for the purpose of illustration only and not as a definition of the limits of the invention.

In the drawings, wherein similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views:

FIG. 1A is a side view of a first embodiment of the invention in an elevated position;

FIG. 1B is a perspective view of a bracket;

FIG. 2 is a side perspective view of the embodiment in a collapsed position;

FIG. 3 is a side view of the embodiment on a desk; and

FIG. 4 is an exploded view of another embodiment;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to the drawings, there is a first embodiment comprising a platform stand 5 comprising a platform 5 comprising a surface 10 and an optional back bracket 15 coupled to surface 10. Surface 10 can comprise slots or elements for receiving a keyboard and/or a mouse or other elements. Surface 10 is coupled to a lift 11 comprising different sets of legs 12a, 12b, 14a, 14b, 16a, 16b, and 18a, 18b. These sets of legs can be parallel spaced legs that can be u-shaped and having cross connectors 13 and 17 respectively. The legs can be joined together by hinge connections 20a, 20b, 22a, 22b, 24a, 24b, and 26a and 26b. These hinge connections can be used to allow the lift 11 to form a scissor lift to move up or down to lift the surface 10 up from another surface such as a desk 31 and away from a base 30. Base 30 forms a frame which allows the lift 11 to be housed therein when the device collapses down. Base 39 includes a recessed section 39 which forms a track for the legs to move therein, while surface 10 can include a recessed region on its underside forming a track for the legs to slide therein.

As indicated above, the lift can also include a monitor bracket 15 which is optional and allows a user to slide a monitor under a bracket opening to lock the monitor in place. In at least one embodiment, this monitor bracket is U-shaped and allows the monitor stand to slide underneath. Alternatively, or in addition, the device can include a strap support which is optional.

The unit can be placed flush to the front of a desk. The lift 11, as indicated above includes a scissor type action wherein the legs can be made from any suitable material such as aluminum. The base can include suction cups (not shown) underneath it but coupled to the bottom surface to secure the base section 30 in place to a desk.

Alternatively the base 30 can be secured without hardware such as with double sided foam tape strips for additional anchoring (not shown). The lift 11 can be either manually operated or electrically operated with a toggle switch and a motor configured to control the device. The lift can include a motor such as an electromotor for driving the lift up and down and controlled by buttons 35a and 35b.

Surface 10 can include an acrylic clear top. Base 30 can be formed as a telescopic or telescoping aluminum enclosure, which can be expanded to fit the suitable vertical expansion of the lift 11 as well as surface 10 to form a safety enclosure. Alternatively, the device can include a touch stop safety sensor which can be used to stop the movement of the scissor lift when the lift is touched.

The device can include a drive 40 that can be locked into place by locking the drive. The drive can be any suitable drive such as a solenoid or screw drive. Drive 40 can be coupled to at least one leg such as leg 12a or 12b. Alternatively if the device is manually lifted the device can include a lock such as lock 42 which is coupled to at least one leg such as leg 14a and/or 14b and can lock the movement of the legs such as legs 14a and 14b, to lock the surface 10 at any suitable height.

FIG. 1B shows the monitor bracket 15 which has a U-shaped securing element or bracket 55 for allowing a monitor stand to be secured therein. This monitor bracket can be secured to surface 10 to prevent movement of a monitor or other device as the surface is being raised or lowered.

FIG. 2 shows the device 5 including the surface 10 and the base in a collapsed or sitting position. FIG. 3 shows the device 5 in a collapsed or sitting position on a desk. FIG. 4 is an exploded view of another embodiment. This embodiment only includes one set of legs in the scissor format so that legs 16a and 16b are coupled together with a cross brace 17 and coupled via hinges or axles 24a and 24b. Legs 18a and 18b are coupled to cross connector or brace 13 via axles or hinges 22a and 22b. The hinges are rotational hinges that if necessary allow the legs to rotate. Alternatively, legs 18a and 18b can be fixedly coupled to cross brace or connector 13 while legs 16a and 16b can be fixedly coupled to cross connector or brace 17 as well. In addition, hinges 26a and 26b couple together legs 16a and 18a or 16b and 18b respectively. Hinges 26a and 26b are rotational hinges. An optional cover can cover over the scissor lift shown in this embodiment or in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1A. Cross couplers or braces 13 and 17 can slide underneath surface 10 either in a track 41 as shown or just underneath a flat surface of surface 10.

Accordingly, while at least one embodiment of the present invention have been shown and described, it is to be understood that many changes and modifications may be made thereunto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
