Charge/discharge control circuit and chargeable electric power source apparatus

- Seiko Instruments Inc.

A charge/discharge control circuit comprises two serially connected electric power sources and two overcharge/overdischarge detection circuits. A control circuit outputs a signal for controlling the charge/discharge of the electric power sources in accordance with signals from the two overcharge/overdischarge detection circuits. An intermediate voltage receiving circuit receives, in accordance with the signal from the control circuit, a voltage at a junction point between the two electric power sources and outputs a signal indicative of a relation of the relative voltage between the two electric power sources.

Claims

1. A charge/discharge control circuit comprising:

an electric power source having a first electric power source and a second electric power source which are connected in series with each other;
first overcharge/overdischarge detection means and second overcharge/overdischarge detection means provided independently of said first electric power source and said second electric power source, respectively;
control means for outputting a signal for controlling the charge/discharge of said electric power source in accordance with signals from said first overcharge/overdischarge detection means and said second overcharge/overdischarge detection means; and
intermediate voltage receiving means for receiving a voltage of a junction connected between said first electric power source and said second electric power source and outputting a signal to inform a relation of relative voltage between them, operation of the intermediate voltage receiving means being controlled in accordance with the signal from said control means.

2. A chargeable electric power source apparatus having a secondary cell having a first cell and a second cell which are connected in series with each other, switching means provided between said secondary cell and an external cell terminal, and charge/discharge control means connected in parallel to said secondary cell for controlling said switching means, said charge/discharge control means comprising:

first overcharge/overdischarge detection means and second overcharge/overdischarge detection means provided independently of said first cell and said second cell, respectively;
control means for logically converting, into a signal for controlling said switching means, signals from said first overcharge/overdischarge detection means and said second overcharge/overdischarge detection means; and
intermediate voltage receiving means for receiving a voltage of a junction connected between said first cell and said second cell and outputting a signal to inform a relation of relative voltage between them, operation of said intermediate voltage receiving means being controlled in accordance with the signal from said control means.
