BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANTThe present invention comprises a new Begonia plant, botanically known as Begonia hybrida, and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘BEYZ0014’.
‘BEYZ0014’ is a product of a planned breeding program in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada. The new cultivar ‘BEYZ0014’ has a symmetrical compact habit, vivid orange double male flowers, and single vivid orange female flowers that bloom naturally from spring to fall. ‘BEYZ0014’ is characterized by its deep mahogany brown foliage with bright green veins.
‘BEYZ0014’ is the result of a planned pollination made in the fall of 2019 at the inventor's nursery in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada. The female parent of the new cultivar is the unnamed seedling of proprietary origin, characterized by its light orange flowers. ‘BEYZ0014’ differs from the female parent by having darker orange flowers. The male parent of the new cultivar is a seedling of proprietary origin, having red flowers and a spreading habit.
The resulting seed was sown in fall 2019 in a controlled greenhouse environment in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada and ‘BEYZ0014’ was selected as one flowering plant within the progeny of the stated cross in June of 2020.
The first act of asexual reproduction of ‘BEYZ0014’ was accomplished when vegetative stem cuttings were propagated from the initial selection in the inventor's nursery in July 2020.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTIONPlants of the new Begonia have not been observed under all possible combinations of environmental conditions and cultural practices. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environmental conditions such as temperature and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype.
A Plant Breeder's Right for this cultivar has not yet been applied for. ‘BEYZ0014’ has not been made publicly available prior to the effective filing date of this application, notwithstanding any disclosure that may have been made less than one year prior to the effective filing date of this application by the inventor or another who obtained ‘BEYZ0014’ directly from the inventor.
The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be basic characteristics of the new variety. The combination of these characteristics distinguishes this Begonia as a new and distinct variety.

The plant descriptions and measurements were taken in Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada in August 2025. The plants were approximately 5 months old and were growing in 8-inch pots, one plant per pot, in a greenhouse.
