Patent number: 4199140Abstract: A container has a body member having a pair of flat opposite major surfaces and an elongated handle having a longitudinal axis parallel to the planes of the major surfaces. A circular hole for receiving a shaft is formed substantially in the volumetric center of the container and the hole is surrounded by a key device to lock the shaft in the container. The container has an opening for filling and a cap for closing the opening. Preferably, the axis of the handle is located nonsymmetrically between the planes of the major surfaces and is supported by structure integral and continuous with, but narrower than the sidewalls of the container between the major surfaces. Preferably in the end of the container opposite the handle there is a slot communicating with a cylindrical hole in the container so that a rubber or metal resilient member may be inserted through the slot and secured by a dowel in the cylindrical hole.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1977Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Inventor: Bruno Ferretti

Patent number: 4199141Abstract: An instructional and amusement device for teaching the art of correctly pitching a baseball, comprising a plurality of resilient target blocks mounted within contiguous support racks. When the apparatus is used as a training device, a pitched ball striking a target block will activate a mechanical switch adapted to close an electrical circuit to indicate, by audio and visual display means, either a "ball" or a "strike". Mounted at various locations within the blocks defining the normal "strike" zone, are a plurality of individual impact sensors comprising outwardly protruding plunger-type mechanical switching devices. When the apparatus is used also as an amusement device, a pitched ball striking one of these switching devices will close an electrical circuit, indicating by audio and visual means, either a "ball", "strike", "hit", "double", "triple", "homerun", "out", or "foul".Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Inventor: Abril I. The internal grippers are spring-loaded to an outer position though automatically retract as required for insertion into the mouth of a container, gripping the container near the top, or at the ridge adjacent the top of the container characteristic of many containers. The improvement comprises a guide ring on the gripper at an elevation approximately equal to the highest relative position of a container during normal operation of the gripper apparatus. The guide ring may limit the uppermost position of any part of the container top or confine the radial position thereof, preferably both, to positively locate the container top and prevent cocking thereof. Chamfering of the lower edge of the ring provides a guide to encourage the gripper and container into axial alignment as the gripper proceeds into a container.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Assignee: Industrial Automation Corp.Inventor: Michael F. Patent number: 4199184Abstract: In lifting gear for filled sacks, a device for engaging a gathered and flattened end of the sack adjacent the mouth thereof comprises two pairs of tongs. A first clamping bar is disposed at the free end of one limb of each pair of tongs and a second clamping bar, parallel to the first, is secured to two links which are pivoted to the free ends of the other limbs. The gathered and flattened end of the sack is introduced between the clamping bars as the open tongs are lowered, whereupon the links are revolved and the tongs are closed so that the end of the sack is slung about the clamping bars.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Assignee: Windmoller & HolscherInventor: Fritz Achelpohl

Patent number: 4199188Abstract: A pair of rails mounted on top of the sidewalls of a pickup truck bed, with each rail forming a channel with a slot at the top, to receive mounting feet of accessories. One accessory is in the form of three cover sections with mounting feet received in the channels, and with cover sheet portions that extend beyond the slots and down to at least the rail height to prevent the entrance of water into the truck bed. The rearmost section has a depending flange which lies below the level of the tailgate, so that when the tailgate is locked up, the accessories cannot be removed. When the sections are locked in their adjoining relationship, a U-shaped elastomeric member and a trough enable a complient, elastic seal between adjoining sections. The cover sections may have sidewalls of substantial height to allow use of the truck as a van or camper.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1978Date of Patent: April 22, 1980Assignee: Access-O-TracInventors: Leonard N.
