The arm has a .[.flat portion parallel to the plane of the base panel at an upper end of the arm, and slat area at a lower end of the arm. A pin is disposed at the end of the arm to suspend freely a reflecting plate, which moves about by breeze to provide an attractive shimmering effect..]. .Iadd.terminal top end surface, a width of which is greater than the height thereof in front view. A rod, having a head, extends from the terminal top end surface of the projecting arm, to which a reflector plate is loosely and swingably fitted.Iaddend..
Abstract: A method for joining two or more jacket or substructure components of an offshore platform in the water to form a single jacket unit. An offshore platform is located in deep water by dividing a jacket or support of extensive length therefor into at least two sections which have only sufficient buoyancy to float at water surface when the sections are launched from at least a vessel at a selected location. The sections are aligned and connected together. Guide means ensure proper alignment of the legs of the sections. Access tubes from the surface of the water to the hollow legs permit direct internal welding in securing the legs of the sections together. The sections are then sunk at the selected location until the jacket is in an upright position at which point it is anchored by driving piling through the jacket's hollow legs into the sea floor, following which the deck of the platform is placed or stabbed on the anchored jacket.
Abstract: A method for producing double knit fabric of a given gauge (usually fine gauge) with an inlay of a coarser gauge yarn on a knitting machine with two needle beds. One side of the fabric is formed of only relatively fine gauge yarn and the relatively coarser inlay yarn is confined to the other or surface side of the fabric. Selected needles in one of the needle beds are replaced by drive elements. The inlay yarn is laid in by an inlay wheel driven in synchronization with the needle bed by said drive elements.

Abstract: An air ionizer is provided of the type in which a corona discharge is produced at the point of a sharp `needle` by connecting it to a source of high potential. One or more needles, mounted in an insulator, point in a direction opposite to the eventual flow of air ions. At ions emitted from the point of the needle are reflected by a reflector. The reflector may comprise a sheet of insulating material or an electrically conductive material, e.g. a metal, mounted on insulators. The reflector may be provided with perforations for the passage of air therethrough such that the ionizer may, with advantage, be placed in a moving air stream. The insulator on which the needle(s) is or are mounted may comprise a polythene cable or a printed circuit board.
Abstract: An adjustable wind shield for a helmet is shiftable between selected positions in which it is held, all in response to rotary pivoting of the shield.
Abstract: A disposable waterproof bag has a cuff-like fold at its upper end with side openings for the lateral reception of the opposed legs of a substantially rigid, wishbone-shaped support frame operative to maintain the mouth of the bag open while at the same time providing gripping means laterally outwardly of the bag opening to facilitate holding the open bag in position for urinating into while in standing position.
Abstract: A passive dosing dispenser for issuing, for example, a volume of a toilet tank additive solution into a toilet tank as the water is draining therefrom while the toilet is flushing.

Abstract: A flush valve mechanism for controlling the flushing action of water thro the water outlet of a flush cistern is provided. The mechanism comprises a water outlet valve liftable off the water outlet to effect the flushing action and a buoyant, valve-engaging assembly adapted to move independently of the water outlet valve by virtue of its buoyancy. The water outlet valve having an effectively negative overall buoyancy when the cistern is at least partially full. The valve-engaging assembly comprises a pivotably mounted buoyant lever having at least one arm with a buoyant means attached at one end thereof adjacent the bottom of the cistern and is provided with means at its other end for selectively engaging the valve. The assembly further comprises restraining means having a first position normally engaging and restraining the buoyant lever with the buoyant means in close proximity to the cistern bottom and the engaging means in disengaged relationship to the valve.

Abstract: Apparatus for aiding in the showering of bathing of bed patients, which apparatus includes disposable non-porous sheets adapted to be fitted within a basin for collecting shower and bath water after use. The basin is removable from the bathing apparatus frame structure so that it may easily be maneuvered under a bed patient, and then used similar to a stretcher to transport the bed patient from the hospital bed to the apparatus support structure. Water collected during the bathing procedure is directed into a holding tank which includes a water pump and drain hose for draining such shower or bath water into an appropriate lavatory drain.
Abstract: A reversible sink cover adapted to fit onto the well of a kitchen sink to cover the sink when not in use. The underside of the cover is provided with a suitable kitchen tool, such as a dish drying rack or cutting board and the outer surface of the cover may include an ornamental design. The cover has a plurality of magnets to removably secure it to a metal sink.
Abstract: A bed making device with a structural support base adapted to receive springs and mattress with two horizontal guide members attached at either end of the base on each side. A carrier arm is slideably positioned on each pair of guide members and contains a retractable detent pin at the top. The pin attaches to a mating opening in the bed linens and the linens are attached to the pins at the foot of the bed. A reversible electric motor with a two position foot switch, limit switch and gear driven belt drive is attached to the arms electromechanically, thereby transmitting linear direction to the mechanism. The carrier arms are horizontally propelled simultaneously forward pulling the bed linens in place. When the linens are so positioned the detent pin is retracted and the arms continue forward to a position near the head of the bed where they stop automatically.
Abstract: A hospital bed has ducts with openings in a frame and a mattress and blanket connected by a hose to an exhauster and filter. A hood formed of several panels at a head of a bed reduces noise and provides ventilation.
Abstract: A carpet printing method is disclosed, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. The method includes the steps of supporting a piece of fabric on a perforate belt, generating a foam adjacent to the fabric and directing the foam through the belt to treat the fabric. The apparatus includes a pan having pipes for admitting dye and air into the pan to generate a foam. A belt is disposed across the open top of the pan, the belt carrying the fabric. The air both foams the liquid and provides pressure within the pan to urge the foam through the belt and into the fabric.
