Abstract: A nectarine tree which is medium in size and vigor, upright-spreading, dense, and round-topped; foliated with medium size, ovate, lanceolate, acutely pointed leaves having a crenate margin, and opposite-irregular, medium size, green, uniform glands; flowers from plump, appressed, pubescent buds of medium size and length; the flowers, of medium season, being large and pink; and is a regular and productive bearer of large, firm-fleshed, visually attractive, globose, freestone fruit, uniform in size and shape, having yellow skin substantially overspread and blushed with red, and yellow flesh.
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of lily plant of the Parkmannis-type oriental hybrid particularly distinguished by the generally flat, outwardly facing, dark reddish-pink and white blossoms which are borne singly on stiff, upwardly extending pedicels carried in raceme arrangement on long, strong stems, and by the dark green, glossy and relatively disease-resistant foliage.
Abstract: A lacing assembly for a shoe, and particularly an athletic shoe, in which the side quarters include separate lower and upper vamp sections that are secured by a single lace extending therebetween. A clamp connects the lace at the lower vamp section, while the lace is secured separately at the upper vamp section, for selectively adjusting and maintaining the fit of each vamp section independently of the other vamp section. The clamp is carried by the lace between the lower and upper vamp sections. More particularly, the clamp is slidably mounted on the lace for selectively moving down or up on the lace upon adjusting the fit of the lower vamp section, the clamp selectively fixing the lace to maintain the desired adjusted fit of the lower vamp section.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for holding a thin workpiece such as a semiconductor wafer for operations which require the workpiece to have a high degree of planarity such as photolithographic printing includes positioning the workpiece onto a planar holding face comprising the points of a multiplicity of regularly spaced-apart substantially parallel pins with a thin rim encompassing all pins to contain a vacuum in the region adjacent to the workpiece. The small abutting area of each pinpoint abutment reduces the probability of dirt particles collecting on the holding face and provides a high thrust pressure to dislodge dirt particles interposed between the abutment and the workpiece. A small amount of lateral motion is imparted to the workpiece when it first contacts the holding face to brush off any dirt particles on the abutments.

Abstract: The display panel comprises a gas-filled envelope made up of a base plate and a face plate. The base plate carries a plurality of display cathodes arrayed in rows and columns and, substantially coplanar therewith, a plurality of scan cathodes arrayed in rows and columns, with each row of scan cathodes being positioned between two rows of display cathodes. A single anode is formed on the face plate of the envelope, and suitable masking is provided so that a viewer can see only the display cathodes through the face plate. In operation of the panel, the scan cathodes are energized column-by-column, and selected adjacent display cathodes are energized simultaneously to display a message or character.
Abstract: In a color TV bulb formed with a panel, a peripheral panel skirt integral therewith, a funnel portion adapted to mate therewith, a frame and aperture mask adapted to be mounted in said frame and secured in spaced relation with the panel; a supporting structure for the aperture mask and frame including peripherally located outwardly extending spring lugs and spring clips attached to the frame respectively operative for xy orientation and Q spacing of the aperture mask. The panel skirt is formed with a selected number of V grooves located each for receiving a corresponding one of the spring lugs and a ledge face spaced away from the inside surface of the panel to cooperatively engage with and support the spring clips. A forward surface of the funnel engages the spring clips to urge same against the ledge face such that the xy orientation and Q spacing of the aperture mask are fixed relative to the panel. .Iadd.
Abstract: High-speed testing circuitry which, when coupled to one terminal of a multi-terminal electronic device, such as an integrated circuit, can either supply test stimuli signals up to a frequency of 30 MHz, receive output signals produced by the device under test in response to test stimuli signals applied by associated test circuits and compare these signals against computer predicted signals, or provide for parametric testing of the device. .Iadd.

Abstract: Single crystals of chromium-doped beryllium aluminate find advantageous use in optical applications and, in particular, in lasers capable of operating at room temperature.
Abstract: A strap retained shoulder protection device for absorbing loads directed to a user's shoulder area by reason of rifle or similiar firearm recoil. The device includes a shoulder protection pad and a strap assembly which cooperates with the pad to form a shoulder harness for locating and retaining the pad in its proper operative position upon the user's shoulder area. The strap assembly is adjustable to facilitate use of the device by different users. The protection pad may be provided with various amounts or load absorbent material according to the desires of the user.
Abstract: The invention is concerned with an improved underwater swimming mask or goggles having a lens with an inner surface, a frame mounting the lens in spaced relationship to a swimmer's eyes and a water-excluding face-fitting skirt peripherally extending from the frame. The improvement comprises wiper means mounted for sweeping movement across a viewing area of the lens and in wiping contact with the lens inner surface, and weight means connected to and displaceable with the wiper means for moving same in response to tilting movements of the mask or goggles when worn by the swimmer during swimming. The tilting movements resulting from the swimmer rotating his head from side to side cause the weight means to be displaced by gravity and to thereby move the wiper means therewith so as to dissipate mist or droplets of water collected on the lens inner surface and to clear the viewing area of the lens.
Abstract: A patellar flange for a knee joint prosthesis comprising a curved base and a pair of condylar runners, one of said condylar runners being attached to each lateral side of the base and extending outwardly anteriorly therefrom diverging from each other and converging to the base superiorly and a femoral knee joint prosthesis containing the flange.

Abstract: Endoprosthetic knee joint devices are described in British Patent No. 1,534,263 comprising an associated pair of femoral and tibial components respectively having convex and relatively flattened articulatory bearing surfaces, and an intervening meniscal component having opposed articulatory bearing surfaces respectively substantially complementary with said femoral and tibial surfaces. It is now proposed that such devices be improved in stability by the provision of mutually slidably engageable rib and groove formations of longitudinally curved form, one each in the complementary tibial and meniscal surfaces, the groove preferably being located in the meniscal component.

Abstract: A seat for a toilet pan comprises a disposable and interchangeable annular member arranged to be used in place of the customary flap-seat. The member has means for positioning it relative to the holes provided, in customary manner, in the rear top area of the pan. The positioning means are arranged such that the member can be rapidly and positioned simply and removed.
Abstract: A two level flush valve assembly for use in a water tank of a conventional toilet. An essentially cylindrical, hollow valve body has an upper flush opening, a lower flush opening, an overflow pipe and a discharge opening. The valve body is positioned in the interior of a toilet water tank with its lower end extending downward through an opening in the bottom of the tank. An extension arm is fastened to the free end of the lever arm which is operated by the flush handle of the toilet. A pulley is rotatably mounted on the free end of the extension arm and operatively engaged by a chain which interconnects a pair of valve elements pivotedly connected to the valve body for closing the upper flush opening and the lower flush opening. The valve element which closes the upper flush opening is pivoted open by the pulley and chain mechanism in response to movement of the flush handle, lever arm and extension arm for approximately one-half of their total distance of travel.
Abstract: A protective cover entirely of soft, deformable, cushioning material such as high density, closed cell foam rubber or plastic is of elongated, hollow tubular configuration with an outer imperforate, closed end, a cylindrical side wall, and an inner open end so that it may be sleeved over a water spout projecting over a bathtub to cushion the user in case of accidental contact or fall. The bottom of the cover is closed except for a water discharge opening in the cylindrical side wall near the closed end, for the passage of water from the spout tip. The closed end is extra thick and shaped as an animal head to appeal to youngsters. The bottom of the cylindrical side wall is longitudinally split to permit expansion over a spout.
