Abstract: The invention is included in a nozzle having side exhaust so that its suction tube is connected to one side of the nozzle. A groove arrangement of part spiral configuration is made in the internal periphery of the nozzle to provide the nozzle air and entrained dirt with a motion tending to move the air and entrained dirt towards the connecting suction duct. This is occasioned by the agitator brush configuration moving air and entrained dirt in a rotary direction which movement is interrupted by the groove and then moved along it. In addition, the cross sectional dimensioning of the nozzle arrived at tends to provide a substantially constant velocity of air flow to insure a relatively even suction effect completely across the lateral extent of the nozzle mouth.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for the detection of movement of body tissues and, more particularly, movements of segments of the heart muscle and method for a noninvasive technique for the detection of coronary and arterial abnormalities. The apparatus includes a probe, preferably in the form of a detector plate, utilizing electric field measurement for detection of movements of a nearby segment of the body tissue, as for example, a segment of the heart muscle. The detector plate is coupled to a variable-frequency oscillator and phase-lock system for measuring capacitive change used to shift the phase of the oscillator when the detector is placed with respect to a certain body tissue. The apparatus employs its own unique system of timing heart movement in that the detector is capable of sensing a signal having a low frequency component which provides information regarding tissue movement.

Abstract: This invention relates to the reduction of gaps in the flow of data accessed in a synchronous serial storage serial communicating data processing memory by the provision of access storage capability at each storage location. The problem to which the invention is directed is the fact that in a synchronously driven array of the type having a number of data storage locations that are accessed by a communicating channel linking all the storage locations in series, the information flow in the communication channel will be limited by the time required for the proper point to be moved around each storage location and the resulting gaps in the data will effect the speed of response. The invention takes the bits to be transferred as they are synchronously propagated around one loop and holds them as the data is synchronously propagated around the other loop until the insertion point arrives.
Abstract: An article, such as a mica wrapped coil, a dynamo-electric machine component containing mica wrapped coils, or a metal substrate, is insulated by: (A) applying wet epoxy resin to the article, (B) contacting the wet epoxy resin with a titanate solution, for a time effective to form a resin impervious, gelled epoxy skin on the surface of the epoxy resin, where the titanate solution consists essentially of organo-titanate and an organic, non-polar solvent, where the weight ratio of organo-titanate:organic non-polar solvent is from 1:2.5 to 1:99, and (C) curing the epoxy resin.

Abstract: An intraocular lens suitable for implantation through a minimal width incision opening into either the anterior chamber or the posterior chamber. The lens incorporates three supporting members, at least one of which is a semi-flexible loop disposed adjacent a next support member to provide wide support while being compressable to an overlapped relationship to provide minimum width for insertion. The lens provides a limited degree of compressability to allow the lens to adapt to differing diameters of implantation location while, at the same time, providing sufficient rigidity so as to prevent undesired bowing.
Abstract: A device for preventing the movement of a flexible material disposed over an open area, such as a shower or a window, includes a rigid elongated rod which is held in a substantially horizontal plane intermediate the top and bottom of the flexible material. In one preferred embodiment the rigid elongated rod is maintained in a static horizontal operative position by a pivot means at one end and an attachment means at the other extremity. A holding means, such as a U-shaped hook or bracket, is attached to a wall above and in a substantially vertical plane with the pivot means to hold the elongated bar in a substantially vertical inoperative position when the bathing facility is not in use.
Abstract: An improved shower curtain assembly is disclosed for use as an enclosure for shower stalls and bath tub and shower combinations. A pair of closely spaced parallel outer and inner shower rods are installed in a spanning relation to the entrance opening into the stall or tub with a first curtain suspended from the outer rod and a second curtain suspended from the inner rod. One opposed pair of vertical edges of the curtains are secured to respective walls in a water tight relation thereto, and in a first form, the bottom edge of the outer curtain is preferably weighted against the top edge of the shower stall or bath tub outer rim. The outer curtain may be of a substantially reduced width relative to the inside curtain, which is slidably operable across the entire width of the enclosure opening in a conventional manner.
