  • Patent number: 4432253
Abstract: A dynamic balancing system for rotary elements wherein balance is maintained by remote control of mass distribution during rotation. A fluid balancing mass partially fills three or more annular chambers. A change in mass distribution is achieved by heating the fluid in a chamber and conducting the vapor so produced to the opposite chamber(s) where the vapor condenses. A warmer chamber thereby loses mass to a cooler chamber. Electronic vibration measuring means and control are generally employed to determine which chambers and what degree of heating are required to improve the state of balance. The preferred control is electronic and comprises a stationarily mounted encoding portion and rotationally mounted decoding portion. Power and encoded control signals are transmitted via inductively coupled coils from the encoding portion to the decoding portion.

  • Patent number: 4432255
Abstract: A hydraulic control for a power transmission has a regulator valve for controlling the hydraulic system pressure and a plurality of shift valves for controlling the automatic ratio change in the transmission. The shift valves are urged toward the higher ratio position by a governor pressure. The shift valves, except the 1-2 valve, are selectively subjected to separate modulated throttle valve pressures acting in opposition to the governor pressure and depending upon whether the respective shift valve is in the lower or higher ratio position. The modulated pressures are maintained at substantially zero for a portion of the throttle valve pressure range so that upshifting and downshifting will be sensitive to governor pressure and therefore vehicle speed only. The regulator valve is subject to a variable bias pressure which is proportional to throttle valve pressure.

  • Patent number: 4432293
Abstract: A non-rotatable, disc-like bobbin carrier is nested in a cup-shaped, vertical axis, rotary loop taker that slidably supports the bobbin carrier at its periphery on an annularly extending, discontinuous lip constituting a circular race slightly offset eccentrically from the loop taker axis of rotation. As the loop taker rotates, the eccentrically positioned bobbin carrier jogs back and forth in reciprocating fashion against one and then the other of a pair of diametrically opposed fixed stops that cooperate to preclude rotation of the bobbin carrier. The movement of the bobbin carrier away from and against each stop is synchronized with movement of a thread loop about the bobbin carrier to permit free passage of the loop between the fixed stops and the moving bobbin carrier.
