  • Patent number: 4520539
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for individually separating heddles bunched into packs and arranged on heddle slide rails, the lifting of individual heddles from the pack being implemented by suction nozzles and the heddles being moved into position for drawing-in the associated warp threads. A blow tube is provided to generate the suction effect and is angularly bent at its front end constructed as a blow nozzle. A small tube is so inserted into the wall of the angular bend that its part within the wall of the tube forms an ejector nozzle and its external end acts as a suction nozzle to lift individual heddles off a pack. The blow nozzle may be brought into line with the direction of advance of the heddles whereby a blast of air issuing from the blow nozzle effects the further motion of a lifted heddle following the drawing-in of the warp thread.

  • Patent number: 4520544
Abstract: A slide fastener chain is fed along a chain path by a feedout mechanism until a leading end of the chain gripped by the feedout mechanism reaches a first feeder mechanism past a cutting mechanism. The first feeder mechanism is then actuated to feed the chain toward a second feeder mechanism. The first feeder mechanism is then inactivated and the second feeder mechanism is actuated to feed the chain at a higher speed. A slider on the chain is engaged by a slider sensor to intermesh element rows on the chain as it is transported by the second feeder mechanism. Then, a chain stop of a stop mechanism is inserted into an element-free gap in the chain and engaged by a bottom stop following the element-free gap to stop the travel of the chain. The second feeder mechanism is released and the cutting mechanism is actuated to cut off the chain across the element-free gap to produce a slide fastener, which is discharged by the second feeder mechanism into a sorting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4520546
Abstract: The invention pertains to a ball joint assembly which includes a ball stud received in a swivel socket of a supporting body. Some of such assemblies are classed as quick disconnects, meaning that the ball stud may be conveniently assembled and disassembled as desired. In another class, the bodies are substantially cylindrical with the sockets forming a pair of diametrically opposed feather edges. In drilling the sockets, it is not uncommon for a burr to be formed about the perimeter, and for this burr to be bent inwardly thereby obstructing the free insertion of the ball stud into the socket. Also it is not uncommon for the feather edges to be bent inwardly resulting in the same problem. By counterboring the socket, the burr is removed and the feather edges are flattened which not only solves the obstruction problem but may also provide other advantages.
