  • Patent number: 4719681
Abstract: A valve assembly and the manner of making the same of the character which embodies a hollow cylindrical body having fluid inlet and outlet ports and a slide member, or spool, slidable within the body to control fluid flow through the valve. Sealing elements are carried by the valve body for sealable engagement with the slide member as it reciprocates within the valve body. The fluid passageways which carry the fluid between the inlet and outlet ports of the valve body are uniquely formed internally of the slide member. Because the slide member is precision ground to a uniform diameter over its entire length, there exists no differing diameters or steps which might abrade the sealing means or tend to cause an inadvertant shifting of the spool within the valve body due to fluid pressures exerted thereon.

  • Patent number: 4719682
Abstract: A wheel assembly includes a cam and a cam gear mounted on a camshaft of an internal combustion engine. The cam gear is constructed of a laminated stack of flat plate members which are disposed in abutting relationship to one another to form a plurality of axially spaced and radially extending interfaces. The cam gear is press fit onto the camshaft and the frictional forces between the gear and the camshaft provide the substantially sole force for maintaining the interfaces between the plate members in abutting relationship at their radially outer ends to form integral tooth members. The cam is also constructed of a laminated stack of flat plate members and press fit onto the camshaft in substantially the same manner as the gear to form an integral cam surface. The plates which form the cam are stamped from the plates that form the gear.

  • Patent number: 4719684
Abstract: The apparatus is for manually inserting an O-ring in a selected annular groove of a bored valve body. A valve body is placed with one end of the body's bore over a plug. A thin walled tube is placed in the other end of the bore so a gap exists between the plug and tube, adjacent the selected annular groove. Two ends of a probe are then used to urge the O-ring through the tube, passing other blocked annular grooves or air passages in the valve body, toward and into the selected annular groove. Plugs and tubes of different lengths are used to insert O-rings in annular grooves at different positions in the bore.

  • Patent number: 4719685
Abstract: A jack device employed to extract agitators from the drive shafts of washing machines. The device includes an annular split ring member having two closed ends and enclosed chamber therein. The enclosed bladder device expands into a split toroidal configuration. A tube attached at the periphery and extending from under the agitator to the outside tub is employed to transfer hydraulic or pneumatic pressure into the said device resulting in expansion of the same. The wall of the bladder is thicker in a zone around the periphery than elsewhere. This thicker zone prevents the device from ballooning out from under the agitator which would result in failure of successfully removing the agitator from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4719694
Abstract: A production facility is provided for automatic assembly and testing of electronic card modules. Heretofore it has only been possible to manufacture card modules in batches without a quick conversion to another type of production, as required, being economically possible. This disadvantage is avoided by the present invention in that all required operating elements (component parts, tools, automatic assembly and testing units) are controlled in direct access with set-up time approaching zero for the production line via an extensive computer hierarchy in which the assembly and test line are available. A master computer administers the cell computers assigned to the individual processing stations which, in turn, control the machine computers. The conveying system has its own control available.

  • Patent number: 4719706
Abstract: Apparatus for expelling and/or withdrawing moisture from, or for admitting moisture to, a running web of paper or textile material has rolls which define one or more nips for the running web and at least one of which has a stack of washer-like funnel-shaped absorbent discs compressed between two end walls one of which has an outwardly bulging frustoconical surface and the other of which has an inwardly bulging frustoconical surface. The discs surround a core of stainless steel and their density in the region of the core is highest due to the provision of funnel-shaped elastomeric inserts which surround the core and whose thickness decreases in a direction from the core toward the external surface of the roll. Such roll renders it possible to operate with a stack of discs whose hardness at the periphery of the roll is relatively low in spite of a substantial nip pressure, or to operate with a very pronounced nip pressure at a given hardness in the region of the peripheral surface.

  • Patent number: 4719717
Abstract: A fishing apparatus including a wire yoke designed to extend around the bottom of and to each side of a tail portion of a minnow. A straight bendable wire shank member is connected at one end thereof to the top end of one side of the yoke and extends substantially horizontally in use when attached to a minnow. This shank member is designed to extend through a tail section of a minnow. A downwardly extending member on the top of the other side of the yoke is provided for selectively holding the other end of the shank member from bending upwardly when disposed within such downwardly extending member, but permitting the shank member to bend downwardly and outwardly to become disengaged from such downwardly extending member such that the free end of the shank member, when unlocked, can be pushed through the tail section of a minnow and then locked into place under the downwardly extending member. A hook is connected to the bottom of the wire yoke.

  • Patent number: 4719718
Abstract: A trap assembly (10) and housing (11) providing an electrical circuit (FIG. 5) for triggering the trap assembly is described. A coil (31) pulls a plunger (30) to activate a lever (20) to release a rod 18 holding the U-shaped wire 12. The wire and rod are part of the electrical series circuit so that the circuit is disconnected after the trap is sprung. The animal A and base 17 can be discarded from the housing, battery B and coil which can be reused.

Abstract: A viewing port for doors such as residences including a light polarizing assembly including at least two linear polarized optical elements, one mounted for rotation with respect to the other element(s) to change the viewing port from light passing to light blocking or reduced transmission condition. The light polarizing assembly is located at the inner side of the door and is surrounded by a tapered portion of its mounting toward the outer face to provide undistorted wide angle viewing of the area surrounding the door. In another embodiment of this invention, my viewing port is designed to be integrated into a stained glass window.

  • Patent number: 4719721
Abstract: A wide belt orbiting sander having an improved workpiece conveyor system, wherein a plurality of resiliently biased platen segments are utilized to apply a force against the underside of the upper conveyor flight in oppositely disposed relationship to the sanding heads. The platen includes a number of individual segments, each segment occupying a certain finite portion of the transverse dimension of the conveyor, and with each of the platen segments being mounted for rocking and pivotal motion about both longitudinal and transverse axes. Wide belt sanders equipped with the improved conveyor system of the present invention are capable of handling a wide variety of workpieces including workpieces of variable and varying dimensions.
