  • Patent number: 4744384
Abstract: An automatic gas distributing device delivers gas at a constant predetermined pressure from one of a plurality of high pressure vessels arranged in a ring connection. The device has flow paths corresponding to the high pressure vessels, and is controlled by the direct application of pressures of the gas contained in the associated vessels to the relevant stop valves. The device automatically sets into operation a high pressure vessel having a lower gas pressure than other vessels. The device interrupts the high pressure vessel in operation when the gas pressure of the vessel is reduced below a control pressure, and actuates the succeeding vessel.

Abstract: In a CO.sub.2 miscible displacement enhanced oil recovery process, produced CO.sub.2 -hydrocarbon gas containing from more than the maximum CO.sub.2 content tolerable in a fuel gas up to about 70 volume percent CO.sub.2 is reinjected into a small portion of the well pattern volume and produced CO.sub.2 -hydrocarbon gas containing more than 70 volume percent CO.sub.2 is reinjected into a larger portion of the well pattern volume. The method provides a more effective utilization of CO.sub.2 in a CO.sub.2 miscible enhanced oil recovery process while maintaining most of the oil-containing formation under miscible conditions.

  • Patent number: 4744420
Abstract: Sand is evacuated from horizontal and vertical wellbores utilizing a jet pump connected to the distal end of a concentric tubing string which is insertable in the wellbore and extendable from the earth's surface or from a seal member providing a crossover flow path between the wellbore annulus above the seal member and the inner tubing member of the concentric tubing string. The jet pump includes a plurality of nozzles for ejecting evacuation of fluid into the wellbore to agitate and entrain accumulated solids for flow into a pump inlet cavity and to be propelled out of the pump by a portion of the evacuation fluid acting as a jet pump power fluid. The inner tubing member may be coilable tubing which is inserted into the outer tubing member after the jet pump has been lowered into the wellbore. An upper portion of the concentric tubing string may be made up of preassembled sections of the inner and outer tubing members.

  • Patent number: 4744423
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new and improved piezoelectric high voltage impact mechanism including a hollow housing means having groove means with two portions and a shoulder portion at their juncture, provided on its inner surface, an actuator means having two projections slidably received in the upper portion of the groove means, a hammer means with two lug members movably received in the lower portion of the groove means and an actuating spring means torsionally connecting the actuator means and the hammer means so that the hammer is held on the shoulder in the housing as actuation is initiated. Energy is stored in the spring during actuation and the actuator pushes the hammer off the shoulder, initiating an impact in a straight-line avoiding unnecessary dispersal of energy and ensuring a stable high voltage pulse.

  • Patent number: 4744427
Abstract: Hydraulic flow may be rendered substantially uniform throughout the waterways on a rotating bit from the center of the bit to the outer gage. This is accomplished by defining waterways into the bit face below a primary surface of the bit face. A colinear land is then disposed into the waterway, but does not extend above the primary surface of the bit face. A plurality of teeth are then disposed on the colinear land and extend above the primary surface of the bit face. The flow of hydraulic fluid is prevented from dispersing as the fluid moves from the center of the bit to the outer gage. Cutting by kerfing is further optimized by arranging triads of cutters on each of the pads disposed in the waterways into a set. Each triad of cutters corresponds to additional triads of cutters in azimuthally subsequent and adjacent pads in the next subsequent waterway, thereby forming the set of associated triads of cutters. Each triad of cutters in the set is radially offset from the corresponding triads in the set.
