  • Patent number: 4744332
Abstract: The hog waterer of this invention includes a center top wall portion with downwardly and oppositely extending wall portions. A pair of lids are pivoted to the center portion for closing an access opening in each of the sloping wall portions. The bottom face of the lid includes a downwardly extending tapered semi-cylindrical closure member which due to a loose pivot connection is self-centering in the access opening. The diameter of the closure member is sufficiently large to space the lid from the sloping top wall portion to prevent any ice build up on the sloping top wall portion from interfering with the closure member from sealing the water in the reservoir tank from the cold outside atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4744338
Abstract: A variable camshaft timing system for an internal combustion engine varies the relative angular position between the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft by controlling the path of the timing belt. First and second idler arms, each having an idler wheel connected thereto, are independently pivoted around a common pivot point by means of a pair of positioning cams operatively connected to an electric stepping motor. The motor is controlled from an electronic control unit which receives signals indicating the engine operating characteristics and through a look-up table steps the positioning cams which in turn pivots the idler arms to rotate the intake camshaft relative to the exhaust camshaft thereby changing the intake valve timing.

  • Patent number: 4744345
Abstract: A method of controlling in a feedback manner the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine to desired values by correcting the fuel quantity supplied to the engine by means of a correction coefficient which varies in response to output from an exhaust gas ingredient concentration sensor arranged within an exhaust passage, when the engine is operating in an air-fuel ratio feedback control effecting region. When the engine is operating in a predetermined accelerating condition, a mean value of the correction coefficient is calculated and stored. When the engine subsequently enters the predetermined accelerating condition, the air-fuel ratio feedback control is effected using the stored mean value as an initial value of the correction coefficient.

  • Patent number: 4744346
Abstract: Disclosed is a fuel control apparatus in an internal combustion engine. When the running mode the engine is changed into acceleration again from deceleration after acceleration, the fuel becomes too rich if the conventional continuous correcting factor is used. In order to properly reduce the quantity of fuel supply in that case, the number of engine revolutions is counted from a point of initiation of deceleration to a point of initiation of acceleration again to thereby calculate a proper value of the continuous correcting factor corresponding to the count, so that fuel is supplied to the internal combustion engine with a quantity corrected by the thus calculated value of the continuous correcting factor.

  • Patent number: 4744372
Abstract: A heating apparatus for hyperthermia utilizes electromagnetic waves for locally heating cancerous cells within a living body. Electromagnetic waves output from a single electromagnetic wave generating means are branched into a plurality of branched electromagnetic waves, which are respectively employed to conduct hyperthermia treatments for a plurality of patients. The whole of the hyperthermia system is controlled in a concentrated fashion from a single section by means of time-division multiplexing. It is therefore possible for a plurality of patients to be subjected to hyperthermia treatment at the same time and in parallel with each other, even when the conditions of these patients differ from one another. Further, it is advantageously possible to simplify the arrangement of the system as a whole and stabilize the control of the system.

  • Patent number: 4744373
Abstract: A leaf picking apparatus according to the present invention comprises a leaf picking disk of elastic material adapted to rotate in one direction. The disk has an opening in the center and a plurality of elastically deformable tongues spaced circumferentially and extending radially inward from the peripheral edge of the opening. Each tongue of the disk is fitted with a metallic plate piece for keeping the tongue curved to one side of the disk and twisted in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of the disk. The plate pieces project from the distal ends of their corresponding tongues. A cylindrical leaf picking tip is fixed to the projecting end of each plate piece. The tip has an axis across the longitudinal direction of its corresponding tongue, and its leading end, as viewed in the rotating direction, is located outside its trailing end with respect to the radial direction of the disk.
