Abstract: A new and distinct Peach Tree denominated varietally as "Early Maycrest" generally resembling the Maycrest Peach Tree, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 4,064, but bearing a freestone fruit having a yellow flesh and which is mature for harvesting approximately May 12 through May 16, earlier than that of the Maycrest Peach Tree.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of peach tree which is characterized by fruit which is clingstone in nature and which has a flesh which is bright yellow in color and which is ripe for commercial harvesting from July 27 to August 1 in Modesto, Calif.

Abstract: A new and distinct spring bearing variety of strawberry plant, characterized by its firm good appearing fruit, both during the crown and subsequent crops. The variety has the ability to produce from April to October, but the transplants require correct chilling both at the nursery and cold storage if summer and fall crops are produced.The variety is particularly distinguished by its late developing plant and crop during the spring. The fruit is distinguished because of its consistent appearance, flavor, and its good shelf life.

Abstract: A new and distinct plant variety of the Cactaceae family obtained through cross-pollination of Schlumbergera truncata "Christmas Charm" and Schlumbergera truncata "Maria", distinguished from its parents and other known related varieties by a growth habit which combines a "reddish" colored bloom, a more vigorous growth rate than both parents, breaking propensity comparable to its paternal parent and better than its maternal parent, vigorous free budding and free flowering comparable to its paternal parent and better than its maternal parent, an upright and dense appearance and considerable resistance to nutrient deficiencies and fungus type diseases.

Abstract: A new and distinct variety of Anthurium scherzerianum is characterized by a large, round and smooth spathe of a dark orange-red stable color, a strong and compact growth, early blossoms, fast growing and resistance to common root diseases and low propagating temperatures.

Abstract: An instrument for indicating anomalies in human tissue comprises first and second light emitters. The first light emitter comprises a tungsten filament which transilluminates the tissue and visually indicates any anomalies therein. The second light emitter emits a light of higher intensity than the light from the first emitter. The second emitter is actuated while the tissue is being transilluminated by the first light emitter to make an exposure on infrared sensitive film located at an opposite side of the tissue.

Abstract: The valve has a shutter mechanism which is movable within a housing and is provided at one end with at least one inlet which is movable across one or more housing openings and at the opposite end with an outlet surrounded by a sealed contact joint which is movable across a delivery pipe opening in the housing. This sealed contact joint surrounds the delivery pipe opening in the housing and contacts either the inside wall of the housing or a face plate arranged on the inside wall of the housing in all intermediate and final positions of the shutter mechanism. With the aim of reducing wear and producing a permanent seal, the sealed contact joint is in the form of a compressible sealing ring with a slotted or kidney-shaped cross-section which serves to wipe the flat and smooth face plate or inside wall of the housing.

Abstract: A foundry moulding composition comprising (a) a granular refractory material, and (b) from 0.5% to 8% based on the weight of the refractory material of a binder comprising (i) an aqueous solution of a potassium alkali phenol-formaldehyde resin, said aqueous solution having a solids content of from 50% to 75% and said resin having a weight average molecular weight (M.sub.w) of from 600 to 1500, a formaldehyde:phenol molar ratio of from 1.2:1 to 2.6:1 and a potassium hydroxide:phenol molar ratio of from 0.2:1 to 1.2:1 and (ii) at least one silane in an amount of from 0.05% to 3% based on the weight of said aqueous solution, said binder being curable by contact therewith of from 5% to 60% based on the weight of said aqueous solution of a C.sub.1-3 alkyl formate.

Abstract: A garment which may be worn by the user, especially by infants and small children, as daywear and sleepwear. The garment has a body portion which is capable of enclosing at least the torso of the user. A plurality of openings are located about the body portion to accommodate the extremities and head of the user. The body portion is dimensioned such that selected extremities and the head of the user may be easily and completely withdrawn within the body portion, so that the user may attain a snuggling mode. The garment may further include a pillow portion secured to the body portion adjacent the opening for the head of the user to rest upon when reclining. In an alternative embodiment for newborn infants, the opening for the legs is wider and includes a draw string for a closure.

Abstract: A cold-weather hand covering of the present invention includes a selectively shaped chemical heating element receiving chamber. In one embodiment, a fingerless glove hand covering having a substantially rectangular shaped chemical heating element receiving chamber confronting the palm side of the base of the fingers is disclosed. The fingers are warmed by so clenching the hand as to bring the fingers into direct heat receiving contact with the heat chamber, and heat transmitted thereby into the palm heats the blood and warms the fingers by circulation. In another embodiment, a mitt hand covering having a substantially heel-shaped chemical heating element receiving chamber confronting either the back surface or the front surface of the fingers including the fingertips is disclosed. The fingers are warmed directly by heat transmitted to the entire surface of the fingers and fingertips by the heel-shaped chemical heating element chamber.

Abstract: A two-piece closure device for a shower curtain includes a wall attachment strip having a pre-applied adhesive backing for adhering such strip to a vertical wall surface adjacent an end edge of the shower curtain, and a curtain attachment clip adapted to be fastened to an end edge of the shower curtain in alignment with the wall attachment strip by folding a flap on one side of the curtain attachment clip over until a projecting rib portion on the flap moves into locking engagement in a channel on the curtain attachment clip with the curtain edge disposed therebetween. The wall attachment strip and curtain attachment clip have releasably interfitting male and female portions for releasably connecting the two pieces together.

The mattress may be of the innerspring type or may consist of a foam rubber slab. The mattress foundation can be framed and padded or may be formed from rigid foam plastics material.

Abstract: A theraputic pillow to support the head and neck of a user in a substantially horizontal resting position and particularly designed to relieve muscular pressure between the head and upper portion of the cervical spine, including a cradle element defined by a pair of lobes adapted to support the head of a user when placed in the cradle element, whereby the cradle element generally tapers downward from a rear portion of the pillow to a front portion of the pillow to hold the head in a position whereby the chin of the user is positioned towards the chest to relieve muscular tension between the head and neck of the user.

Abstract: A cover in the form of a blanket has a protective grid of phosphorescent material that when exposed to light and placed in a dark environment emits light for a period of time. The protective grid is a pattern of intersecting ribbons of phosphorescent material anchored to and covering substantially one surface of a fabric. The protective grid provides a visual light shield that creates an image of protection and is useable for amusement and entertainment.

Abstract: A brush assembly having a pair of elongate brushes mounted in a spaced apart manner on a base having an outer wall disposed about the brushes. A hanger engages a bath or shower enclosure member and includes a hook for insertion within an opening in said base. Handles on the base facilitate relocation of the base from a stowed position on the hanger into place on a wall surface. Wall attachment is by suction cups on the rear side of the base with a lever provided for urging the base away from a supporting wall surface and facilitating return of the brush assembly to a stowed position. A double sided adhesive member may be used to permanently secure the base to a wall surface.

Abstract: An industrial-type scraper provided with an elongated handle to one end of which a flat support plate of substantially less length than the handle is connected to the handle at an obtuse angle thereto in side view and also at an additional obtuse angle to the handle in plan view, a flat clamping plate of similar size as the support plate, bolt and wing nut members extending through similar complementary size aligned holes in the support and clamping plates, and a sawtooth edged scraping blade clamped between said plates with its sawtooth edge projecting beyond one of the edges of the aforementioned plates.

Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for a record disc comprises a support member having a top side and a bottom side. Locating means is provided for locating the support member relative to the center of a record disc. A knob is mounted on the top side of the support member for rotation about an axis offset from the location means whereby the support member may be manually rotated about the center of the record disc. A holder for a cleaning pad is mounted on the bottom side of the support member also for rotation about an axis offset from the locating means. A drive mechanism comprising a step-up gear is provided to couple the knob and the pad holder together such that rotation of the knob relative to the support member causes rotation of the pad holder relative to the support member.

Abstract: A carpet scrubbing machine includes a solution tank for storing cleaning solution and a recovery tank for storing the dirty recovered solution. A molded, shaped flexible pocket is mounted between the tanks and adapted for movement between a normal position in which the pocket extends into the recovery tank and an inverted position in which the pocket extends into the solution tank, thereby providing more room for cleaning solution at the start of a cycle and greater room for recovered solution at the end of a cycle.

Abstract: A magnetic pick-up device for a vacuum sweeper comprises a series of magnetically-attractive strips mounted in an open-bottomed plastic housing. The pick-up housing is mounted on the vacuum cleaner housing by a pair of cooperating extruded sections that are frictionally engaged such that the pick-up housing can be moved parallel to the length of the extruded sections to separate the pick-up housing from the vacuum cleaner housing.

Abstract: The present invention is a carpet fastener for securing an edge of an expanse of carpet against a vertical surface having a face board secured thereto. The fastener includes a carpet retaining portion and a face board engaging portion. During installation, the face board engaging portion is inserted into a gap formed between the floor surface and the underside of the face board. Protrusions on the face board engaging portion rigidly secure the fastener so that nails or glue are not required.

Abstract: A wheel bracket assembly includes two separate, platelike bracket parts which each have a noncircular opening therein and are disposed on opposite sides of a wheel in angular alignment. The ends of the axle for the wheel extend through the noncircular openings and the bracket parts are fixed against axial and rotational movement with respect to the axle. A method of making the wheel bracket assembly includes the steps of stamping out from at least one metal plate the two bracket parts which are substantially mirror images of each other and have the noncircular opening therethrough, placing the bracket parts in angular alignment on opposite sides of the wheel so that the ends of the axle extend through the noncircular openings, and upsetting each end of the axle to retain the bracket parts in place and so that the material of the axle flows to fill the noncircular openings in the bracket parts and thereby prevent relative rotation of the bracket parts.

Abstract: A direction setting device for rollers of a baby walker includes a pair of upper connectors, a pair of lower connectors rotatably connected to the upper connectors, and a control mechanism for permitting or preventing the relative rotation between the upper connectors and the lower connectors. The upper and lower connectors are utilized to connect the seat to the front rollers on the baby walker. Each of the upper connectors includes a spring biased key member. Each of the lower connectors includes a circumferential contacting surface capable of engagement with the key member and a key way in the contacting surface capable of engagement with the key member to prevent the relative rotation between the upper and lower connectors.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device ensuring automatic closure of pivoting doors and for holding them in open position. The device includes a fixed box mounted on the door (or frame) and supporting a pivoting arm subjected to the action of a return element. A fixed slide rail is mounted on the frame and a connecting element is positioned between the pivoting arm and the slide rail. The connection between the pivoting arm and the slide rail is obtained by way of a sliding rod, retractable inside the arm. The rod is adapted to be blocked automatically when it projects from the arm by a determined length corresponding to a given degree of opening of the door.

Abstract: An end closure for a shirred casing stick is formed from casing inturned into the bore of the stick. A vacuum assist is used to prepleat the casing within the bore prior to compaction. The resulting end closure is a generally cylindrical plug composed of accordion-type pleats and having an end portion which has a substantially uniform density about the longitudinal axis of the plug and a second portion which has an asymmetrical density. The second portion has two longitudinally extending sections; one having its pleats formed of a single ply of casing and a diametrically opposite section having its pleats formed of three plies of casing, thereby providing the asymmetric density.

Abstract: Apparatus for holding small game animals or fish during skinning, scaling or butchering operations is provided. The apparatus includes a support member defining an upper serrated surface and a plurality of arm members pivotally mounted to the support member and to each other whereby movement of the members in relationship to each other enlarges or diminishes the size of a triangular opening bounded by serrated surfaces.

Abstract: The cleaning apparatus for cleaning the set of flats of a revolving flats card has a shaft supported by a carrier. The shaft is pivotable about the lengthwise axis of the shaft together with a cleaning brush fixedly mounted on the shaft and extending over the width of the card. In accordance with the invention, the carrier is movably mounted on the card framework in such a manner that at the flats cleaning position the spacing of the path of movement of the cleaning brush from the set of flats is variable, whereby during the pivotal movement of the cleaning brush effecting cleaning of the flats clothing the spacing of the path of movement of the cleaning brush from the set of flats at the flats cleaning position is smaller than during the return movement of the cleaning brush. The cleaning apparatus affords the advantage of improved cleaning of the flats clothing.

Abstract: A manually operable quick action fastener, intended for both sporting and industrial use, consists essentially of a single length of wire which is formed into a closed triangular torsion spring having its torsion coils within the triangular shape and whose ends are formed, at the base of the triangle, into a closing hook and a locking arm. Other embodiments allow the closing hook to be strengthened by double winding or resin cladding, or both, and for higher load bearing models the wire winding of the basic triangular shape is modified to produce deflection limiting ends which allow the complete fastener to interlock and bear loads approaching the elastic limit of the material without slip of the parts.

Abstract: Described herein is a body case fabricated of galvanized sheet metal and designed to contain the remains of a decreased person in an air tight environment. The case is used for shipping the remains from one area of the country to another. The body case includes a main portion which is bent to form two sides and a bottom. The case also includes a front and back panel which are joined to the main portion by preformed receiving mean joints therein and a sealant material is placed in conjunction with the forms joined to maintain an air tight seal within the body case container. Flanges are formed along the open top of the container and a gasket is placed along the formed flanges. A cover is compressibly latched over the top of the container and against the gasket to maintain an air tight seal therein. In an alternate embodiment, a window is placed in the cover and sealed in an air tight manner using a gasket and compression offset bracket against the transparent window.

The case is used for shipping the remains from one area of the country to another. The body case includes a main portion which is bent to form two sides and a bottom. The case also includes a front and back panel which are joined to the main portion by preformed receiving mean joints therein and a sealant material is placed in conjunction with the forms joined to maintain an air tight seal within the body case container. Flanges are formed along the open top of the container and a gasket is placed along the formed flanges. A cover is compressibly latched over the top of the container and against the gasket to maintain an air tight seal therein. In an alternate embodiment, a window is placed in the cover and sealed in an air tight manner using a gasket and compression offset bracket against the transparent window.
