  • Patent number: 4759157
Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for forming a raised roof edge on a building structure that preferably has a generally horizontal roof and a generally vertical outer face. The assembly includes a dam member for forming a water dam or gravel stop, a fascia member, and a separate clip member interposed therebetween for resiliently biasing the fascia member into a relatively tight and rattle-free interlocking installation on the dam member. Preferably, a roofing material is interposed between the clip member and the dam member and is frictionally secured and anchored therebetween as a result of the resilient snap-on engagement of the fascia member on the clip member and the dam member. The roof edge assembly thereby provides an improved water dam or gravel stop structure that securely retains and protects the roofing material on the roof of the building structure.

  • Patent number: 4759158
Abstract: The set of prefabricated construction elements comprises a first prismatic element having the form of a box-shaped body containing a bottom floor and a second prismatic element having the form of a box-shaped body with an inclined roof floor. Preferably the elements are made of precast reinforced concrete. One of the transverse walls of the first element is displaced to the interior, forming thus with the projecting lateral walls a wind shade. The interior of the walls is provided with insulation. According to the climate an external, insulating shell can be fastened to the external walls.Such a set of precast elements allows an economic fabrication with only two molds, an easy transport by trucks and a very easy and economic assembly on the spot on one hand and the erection of a multitude of different buildings to size on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 4759170
Abstract: A film made of synthetic resin is pulled continuously from a roll thereof and formed into a tubular shape the overlapping longitudinal edge portions of which are fused. The interior of the resulting tubular film is filled with a liquid or viscous material to form a tubular body fed while it is being formed. The tubular body is squeezed intermittently at a predetermined time interval by a pair of rotating cylindrical rollers to form flattened portions devoid of the material, after which each flattened portion is constricted transversely of the tubular body to form a constricted portion. An ultrasonic horn and an anvil are brought into abutting contact with the constricted portion, which is sealed ultrasonically by holding the ultrasonic horn and anvil in abutting contact therewith at a constant contact pressure for a set period of time while the ultrasonic horn applies ultrasonic waves to the constricted portion.

  • Patent number: 4759189
Abstract: A self-limiting electro-thermal actuator, capable of improved response time and continuous energization operation to produce a mechanical output uses plural heaters, e.g. a resistance heater and a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater, connected in series electrically. The actuator includes a boiler chamber, a thermally expansible working medium in the boiler chamber, a movable member responsive to expansion of the working medium to provide a mechanical output from the actuator, and a heater assembly for heating the working medium. The heater assembly includes the series-connected resistance electrical heater and PTC material heater. The electrical resistance of the PTC material increases with increasing temperature to limit current flow to the resistance heater. The heater arrangement produces improved response time over use of a PTC heater alone permitting actuators to be employed in applications for which known actuators are too slow.

  • Patent number: 4759191
Abstract: Disclosed is a self-contained, rapid cooling device that retains heat produced from the cooling process and can be stored for indefinite periods without loosing its cooling potential. A liquid in a first chamber undergoes a change of phase into vapor, which cools the first chamber. A sorbent in a second chamber is in fluid communication with the vapor and removes the vapor from the first chamber. The cooling process is facilitated by lining the interior surface of the first chamber with a wicking material to retain the largest possible contact between the liquid and the first chamber as the level of the liquid lowers during the vaporization process. A phase separator prevents unvaporized liquid from passing into the second chamber. The device is self-contained because a material in contact with the sorbent removes the heat from the sorbent to prevent the reduction in the cooling effect produced by the first chamber.

  • Patent number: 4759192
Abstract: A domestic ice-cream maker comprises a refrigerated bowl-shaped container for an ice-cream mass; a rotatable stirring tool associated with such container for scraping off ice-cream freezing at a refrigerated surface of the container; and a single-phase synchronous motor for rotating the stirring tool, such motor having a maximum permissible operating temperature for making the ice-cream. A transmission path including a reduction mechanism extends between the synchronous motor and the stirring tool. Backlash is provided in the reduction mechanism as overload protection for the synchronous motor, the backlash acting in both directions of rotation of the motor and corresponding in each such direction of rotation to at least 10 revolutions of the motor, the motor, upon being blocked in either direction of rotation, reversing its direction of rotation and passing through the range of the backlash without exceeding its maximum permissible operating temperature.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the refrigerator-freezer unit includes a rectangular, countertop height structure having an insulated freezer compartment and an insulated refrigeration compartment. The freezer compartment is accessed via a first countertop height cover that is hinged to the back wall of the structure. Access to the refrigeration compartment is provided via three separate countertop height covers each hinged to the back wall of the structure. These four covers constitute the entire top of the refrigerator-freezer unit. The refrigeration compartment is a shallow, undivided tub. Two support struts laterally extend across the top of the refrigeration compartment and support underside edge portions of the covers for the refrigeration compartment. A plurality of non-refrigerated, dry goods storage cabinets are disposed immediately below the refrigeration compartment. Access to these dry goods is provided along a front side of the structure.

  • Patent number: 4759196
Abstract: An outdoor enclosure for air handling equipment is adaptable to accept add-on air handling equipment by virtue of a two-position cover panel. The cover panel has a generally rectangular shape and is attached to a side panel of the enclosure. The cover panel is selectively mountable in either a vertical position to cover a fresh air opening through the side panel or in an open position to uncover the opening. The cover is opened by pivoting it about its upper horizontal edge which is located just above the opening and swinging its lower edge outwardly away from the side panel. An add-on mist elimination filter is installed in a generally horizontal position betweeen the cover panel's lower edge and the lower edge of the side panel's opening. In the open position, the cover panel serves as a rain sheltering hood over the filter while the opening allows fresh outside air to be drawn into the suction side of a fan located inside the enclosure.
