Abstract: The subject of the present disclosure is a new and distinct variety of miniature rose plant characterized by deep orange buds and flowers of distinctive form and further identified by the rounded, erect, drawf, compact plant.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis cultivar Monora differs distinctively from other Hibiscus by a unique combination of large white single flowers, floriferous habit, dark green foliage, compact growth habit and high rooting percentages during propagation.

Abstract: A new variety of Alstroemeria characterized by the generally light purple coloration of the outer petals of its very large blooms, each of which has a streak of darker purplish color extending from end-to-end along each side of its central groove and being occasionally marked with streaks of purplish color extending from the inner body portion to the petal margin; the inner petals being more narrow in form and being mainly of a yellow coloration, except for the petal tips, and being marked overall with short, deep purplish pencil stripes which spread longitudinally from the petal base to its tip. This plant is further distinguished by its vigorous, upright and strong growth habit, a very good winter production, and a more rapid growth habit, reaching a height of about 200 cm.

Abstract: A new variety of hybrid lily plant bearing large, upright to semi-upright flowers of excellent form particularly characterized by their completely unspotted and pure white coloration. This combination of pure white coloration, large size and substance, and the upright to semi-upright orientation of the flowers is completely new in the Oriental hybrid divisions of lilies suited to forcing and to mass commercial cultivation. This plant is highly resistant to disease and shows tolerance of virus; it is an excellent garden plant; and the bulbs may be precooled and forced for cut flower production.

Abstract: A new variety of hybrid lily plant of short stature, about eighteen inches, bearing large clusters of flowers particularly characterized by their deep pink, cream-centered coloration borne upright in a compact raceme arrangement and comprising from five to nine buds. The short stature of this plant, its moderately long and full leaves, and its medium sized, upright flowers make it especially suitable as a pot plant variety. The color pattern and silhouette of this new plant are completely new in the upright Asiatic divisions of lilies suited to forcing for mass commercial cultivation. The plant is highly resistant to disease and shows high tolerance of virus, which makes it an excellent garden plant; and the bulbs may be precooled and forced throughout the year for pot plant production.

Abstract: A two-cycle internal combustion engine having an "open" combustion chamber/poppet valve arrangement that produces improved scavenging. The combustion chamber has a generally oblate configuration and is slanted with respect to the cylinder axis in such a manner that the air flowing therein converges and is directed downward in a collimated column into the cylinder. The placement of overhead cam operated poppet valves in combination with the combustion chamber produces a scavenging method of the reverse return-flow type. A displacer piston having a displacer with a peripheral wall corresponding in configuration to that of the combustion chamber and defining a recess of predetermined volume that forms the floor of the combustion chamber when the piston is located in its upper most position may be advantageously employed.

Abstract: A hydraulic circuit is disclosed for activating a clutch as well as a throttle valve which is used in the circuit. The hydraulic circuit includes a hydraulic actuator which is connected to a source of pressurized fluid to alternatively activate the clutch. Connected between the source of pressurized fluid in the actuator is a control valve and a pressure-responsive throttle valve. The control valve is basically an on/off valve which controls the flow of fluid to the clutch actuator or from the clutch actuator to a reservoir. The throttle valve, on the other hand, is arranged in series with the control valve and is responsive to fluid pressure on its downstream side to cause increased throttling of the fluid as the fluid pressure to the actuator increases. Such a circuit is beneficial in preventing the clutch from snatching as it is being engaged.

To permit a normal work height for the workpieces when in the stations while providing a relatively long vertical stroke for the shuttle it is raised and lowered by Scott Russell lift mechanisms disposed beside and laterally outside of the shuttle.

Abstract: The low friction rotatable electrical connector is for use with a coiled telephone cord to prevent the cord from becoming twisted or tangled during use. This connector is generally of insulating material formed with a hollow housing for supporting a rotor assembly therein. This rotor assembly is a hollow cylinder that is positioned within the housing for relative rotation therein. One end wall of the housing has a circular opening in which one end of the rotor assembly is supported for rotation. The rotor assembly has a single longitudinal split for nearly the entire length thereof, but the split does not include the journal at one end that is located within the circular opening or bearing in the end wall of the housing. The rotor assembly supports a plurality of continuous conductive rings on the exterior thereof, and there is an insulating washer positioned between each pair of conductive rings to serve as a spacer between adjacent rings.

At the bottom across the full width of the blouse is a pocket panel with a vertical seam in the center to form two pouch pocket compartments. The bottom portion of the pocket panel has a separate piece of material for reinforcing the bottom of the pocket which is integral with the hemline along substantially the full width of the blouse. The pouch pocket openings are set at a convenient angle for entrance of the hand into the pocket and disallowing objects from falling out of the pockets.The outboard pant pockets have similar closures as the outside blouse pockets and like all pockets the bottoms are reinforced.

Abstract: A glove is provided with a grommet in which is secured one end of a flexible electrically insulating cord, the other end of which is secured to a plastic clamp to be clamped about the dispensing hose or nozzle of a gasoline pump for use in the self-service dispensing of gasoline. The glove has an outer body of water-proof, gasoline-resistant and wear-resistant material and an inner liner of fabric material, between which may be disposed from one to three layers of thermally insulating material, depending upon the climate in which the glove is to be used. The glove is designed for use on either a right or left hand, and the cord attachment may be at either the wrist end or the finger end of the glove.

Abstract: A hunter's glove is provided which affords thermal protection of the hand yet enables a game calling device to be placed against the skin of the palm of the hand to facilitate production of a more realistic sound. Such functionality is achieved by a flap attached to the glove at a site opposite the thumb portion and adapted to removably occlude a matching aperture in the palm portion of the glove. The flap is held in place in its closed position above the aperture by Velcro attachment material.

Abstract: A garment made of plastic film of the type and thickness often used for the manufacture of grocery sacks and garbage bags is disclosed. Stretch and ventilation of the garment is provided in spite of the relative inelasticity and impervious nature of plastic film by cutting a plurality of small slits in parallel rows, the slits being staggered in one row with respect to the slits in adjacent rows. In this way the plastic material is allowed to deform into a plurality of diamond shaped openings which at one and the same time provide both flexibility and ventilation to a plastic garment. The rows of slits are confined, in one embodiment, to the inseams and abdominal areas of the garment.

Abstract: A device for automatically rinsing private parts of the user's body after urination and/or defecation is disclosed. The device is comprised of a main body including a unit of temporarily securing the user's body to the device while also covering their private parts such as anus or urethra, an inlet port for introducing a rinsing liquid for rinsing the private parts, and a drainage port for discharging the used rinse liquid long with discharge materials out of the main body. The main body also includes a sensor unit for sensing urination and/or defecation; a unit for discriminating defecation and urination from each other on the basis of outlet signals from the sensor unit and a unit for releasing a rinsing liquid for a predetermined time towards the private parts on the basis of discrimination by the discriminating unit.

Abstract: A mattress includes a mattress body and an elongated support. The body includes a fabric case and a pad contained therein, and is formed so as to have predetermined breadth and length. The support has a soft structure and is disposed at a predetermined lengthwise location of the body so as to extend in a direction of the breadth of the body. The inventive mattress is capable of serving as a health aid which is so arranged as to prevent the lower back region of the human body from sinking in a curved manner and also to press against the lumbar vertebra, thereby improving the blood circulation and assuring a comfortable sleep.

Abstract: A jet pump macerator pump sewage handling system which provides a unique waste control system for use in mobile units such as passenger trains and ships in which multiple toilets are connected to a transfer manifold pipe which communicates with a non-clogging jet pump which is formed with a venturi and through which liquid material is driven by a macerator pump. Waste material from the toilets is drawn by the jet pump through the transfer manifold pipe and discharged into the retention tank. The macerator pump withdraws material from the retention tank, grinds it and discharges it back into the retention tank. The macerator pump has a self-cleaning feature in that it reverses and cleans itself whenever a loss in discharge pressure due to excessive solids loading is sensed. The transfer manifold pipe is virtually free from clogging due to the action of an air induction valve which keeps waste material in the manifold pipe moving without allowing it to accumulate.

Abstract: Apparatus for filling a toilet tank with water and discharging the water therefrom has a valve base for supplying water to the toilet tank. A valve is in a hollow passage of the valve base for closing the hollow passage to the supply of water when pulled vertically. An axle is connected at one end to the valve plug. An axle floater is on the opposite end of the axle for pulling the valve vertically when the toilet tank is full of water. A buoy base discharges water from the toilet tank. A discharge buoy closes the buoy base until pulled from the buoy base, and then floats on the water in the toilet tank back to the buoy base as the water is discharged. A pulling chain connects the discharge buoy to a command lever which is tiltable by a command handle on the outside of the toilet tank to pull the discharge buoy from the buoy base with the pulling chain. The command lever also engages the axle, to tilt the axle when the command lever is tilted, which opens the valve for supplying the water.

Abstract: A clothes washing machine and method wherein a washing liquid is ejected and circulated through a suction pump in a connecting hose from an outer tub, with the recirculated washing liquid being sprinkled all over the clothes through a sprinkling port. An amount of washing liquid to be supplied into the washing tub is set to be about three to eight times larger than that of the clothes to be washed in a weight ratio and washing is performed by carrying out a sprinkling or spraying of the washing liquid on the clothes. By setting an amount of washing liquid supplied to the washing tub to be as small as three to eight times the amount of clothes to be washed in a weight ratio, the clothes are prevented from floating upon the washing liquid and, accordingly, it is possible to promote a friction, expansion, and contraction action of the clothes and to increase a direct frictional effect caused by an agitator of the washing machine.

An attachment portion (1;25) moulded in a hard and inflexible material, such as an acetal resin, comprises an externally screw-threaded spigot (3;27) and a body providing a collar (7;29) a flange (5;30) and a central stiffening support. The stiffening support comprises a hub (8;37) supported by spokes (11;38) extending radially from the hub to the collar. A boss (2;26) of the stud is moulded on to the attachment portion and is of a tough but more resilient material, such as a polyurethane. The boss-forming material flows through apertures between the spokes to join up and form a ring (22) or plug (43) which causes the boss to become interlocked with the attachment portion.

Abstract: A corn silking apparatus designed to remove the silk from ears of corn, which is characterized by a housing containing a drive gear and a driven, or idler gear. The drive gear is driven by an electric motor and carries a drive shaft and the idler gear carries an idler shaft, which drive shaft and idler shaft are spaced from each other in parallel relationship and each receive a pair of brushes that rotate in different directions. The silk is removed from individual ears of corn by placing the ears on top of and between the rotating brushes. In a first preferred embodiment, the drive shaft and idler shaft extend through the housing and are journalled for rotation in bushings located in a removable front plate and a rear end plate and the motor is located externally of the housing.

Abstract: A hand-held orbital automobile polisher of the type having a housing with handle means close-coupled to it so that the operator grasps the polisher very near the housing, and moves the polisher to different regions of the automobile. An electric motor is mounted in the housing, and a counterweight is mounted on the motor shaft. A pad assembly is connected to the counterweight at a point offset from the shaft, the axis of rotation of the pad assembly relative to the counterweight being substantially parallel to the shaft axis. The overall weight of the polisher is in the range of about four pounds to about eight pounds. The rotational speed of the motor, and the constructions and masses and mounting points of the counterweight and the pad assembly, are such that the net centrifugal force generated by the counterweight and the pad assembly is in the range of ten to eighteen pounds.

A link (6) extending substantially at right angles to the surface of the windscreen is pivotally connected to both the arm (2) and the blade (9) so as to provide an articulated connection therebetween and a control lever (12) is pivotally connected at one end to the link (6) between the pivots for the arm (2) and the blade (9). A cam surface (15) is associated with the drive shaft (1) and a cam follower (16) is provided for cooperation with the cam surface (15) and mounted on the other end (11) of the control lever (12).

Abstract: A wiper arm for use with a highly curved windshield is designed so that the wiping pressure in the blade is substantially constant in spite of the deflections up and down to which the arm is subjected. The arm consists of two parts, a channel shaped main body cantilevered from the post of the wiper drive mechanism, and a slider bar that is free at its back end. As the arm deflects, the main body bends, creating a resistance force that adds to the wiping pressure in the blade, while the back end of the slider bar moves relative to the main body of the arm. A tension spring hooked between the back end of the slider bar and the vehicle pulls the arm toward the windshield, also adding to the wiping pressure. However, as the arm deflects up, the spring relaxes, so that the contribution of the spring to wiping pressure decreases concurrently with the contribution of the bending main body of the arm increasing. Therefore, the total wiping pressure remains more nearly constant.

Abstract: Herein disclosed is a wiper which can selectively assume a "semi-concealed mode" and a "full-concealed mode". The wiper comprises an output gear housed in a case, an output shaft having one end to which a motor arm is secured, a wiper arm assembly including a connecting rod which is pivotally connected to the motor arm, a first mechanism for transmitting rotation of the output gear to the output shaft, a bushing rotatably housed in the case and having an eccentric bore through which the output shaft is rotatably passed, a second mechanism for locking the bushing to one of the case and the output gear while changing relative angular positioning between the bushing and the output gear, and a push button arranged on the case and actuating the second mechanism when manipulated.

Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner is provided comprising a lightweight motor housing containing a revolving brush. A bag assembly is selectively separable from the housing and is sealable to the housing with an elastomeric retaining ring including a sealing and retaining bead for reception in a recessed slot area of a housing bag attachment collar. A fan is mounted to the motor on a motor shaft locking surface including a wall portion tapering towards the fan. The shaft is in locking cooperation with a mating fan bore locking surface including a wall portion tapered for close reception of the motor shaft locking surface. A shaft extension is threadedly received on the motor shaft and is urged into engagement against the fan by resistance of a revolving brush operated by a belt received on the shaft extension which continually tightens the shaft extension to the motor shaft and fixes the fan to the motor shaft.

Abstract: An illumination system for a vacuum cleaner including a thermoplastic injection molded lens which, cooperating with a reflector surface, provides a high level of optical efficiency. The lens includes separate prism and diffusion areas which focus light immediately ahead of the cleaner. The lens and reflector allow a low wattage bulb to be utilized and thereby avoid excessive generation of heat and the requirement for a bulb socket for heat dissipation.

Abstract: The utility tool facilitates the handling of rotisserie spits particularly heated spits during cooking. The tool can be used to carry a spit crosswise or lengthwise. A stepped slot is formed in a projected plate mounted at one end of the tool for engaging the spit crosswise for lifting the latter from a cooking appliance. Another slot is formed in a second projected plate mounted at the second end of the tool to facilitate adjustment of meat forks used on rotisserie spits. An arcuate notch is formed in one of the projected plate to facilitate cleaning of the cooking grill as well as placement of the meat forks into the meat being cooked.

Abstract: A rope-type carrying handle including a discontinuous segment of rope having two unconnected free ends and a handgrip therefor which securely anchors the ends and center of the rope against longitudinal movement in the handle. The handgrip comprises first and second members which mate so as to trap the rope therebetween and include a plurality of receptacles, retainer pins and ribs which cooperate to variously so penetrate, spread, wedge and pinch the rope within the handgrip as to prevent relative movement therebetween.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a length adjustable center rod structure for a vertical shutter drape. The center rod is located in the inner side of an over-head track, and has two or more sections of telescoped hollow tubes so that the length thereof can be easily adjusted for length variations of the over-head track. The positioning of each hollow tube for the telescoping, is guided by a respective quasi-U-shaped, latitudinal, and straight trough provided on the tube wall. Each trough is also utilized for the reception of a downwardly protruding quasi-U-shaped tongue located on the sleeve axle inner surface sliding elements. When the center rod is rotated, it drives every shutter blade axle of the sliding elements to rotate via their respective sleeve axles.

Abstract: An arrangement for transferring poultry carcasses such as the carcasses of birds being chickens, ducks, turkeys and the like, from one position to another may be used to transfer the poultry carcasses from a killing conveyor to an eviscerating conveyor, for example. The arrangement can, however, be used to transfer poultry carcasses from any one conveyor to another conveyor. The arrangement includes a rotatably mounted plate and associated structure for imparting a rotational moment thereto. A plurality of sector members are pivotally mounted on or connected to the plate at a position offset or spaced apart from the rotational mounting of the plate. The rotational moment of the plate can be imparted to the sector members. Members are provided to limit or control the pivotal movement of the sector members relative to each other and to the pivotal attachment point.

Abstract: A manual applicator for the application of spreadable surgical clips comprises a clip magazine which releasably retains therein a plurality of spreadable clips, and a spreader mounted at the discharge end of the clip magazine by a support, e.g., a rail. The spreader has an inlet section disposed adjacent to the discharge end of the magazine, and at its opposite end a discharge tip which is wider in the clip-spreading direction than its inlet section. The spreadable clips, which are resilient so that they can be spread-apart and will close upon release of the spreading force, include an opening in the rear or bight portion enabling the clip to pass over the spreader. The clips may also have a radial slot, enabling them to pass over the rail member, when the latter is not a cantilevered rail member on which the clips are threaded.

Abstract: An improved fabric seam for flat woven fabric is disclosed. The improved seam utilizes polyaryetherketones and preferably polyetheretherketones in forming the seaming elements, comprising coil elements and a joining element.

Abstract: A buckle for a strap comprises a rectangular body formed with a window defined by a planar rectangular frame with a fixed bar at an edge of the body, and a pair of guide walls extending generally perpendicularly to the fixed bar, and a movable bar in the window parallel to the fixed bar and defining therewith a gap into which a strap can be passed and which can clamp the strap against the fixed bar. The movable bar is provided with wedge-shaped formations tapering toward the fixed bar bordering the window, the walls being formed with lateral slots respectively receiving the wedge-shaped formations with clearance and tapered correspondingly with substantially the same angle of taper and such that movement of the formations in the respective slots in a direction opposite the direction of taper thereof increases play between the formations and the slots whereas movement of the formations in the respective slots in an opposite direction wedges the formations without play in the slots.

Abstract: A method and structure for a non-reopening extruded plastic profile fastener wherein complementary rib and groove type profiles are constructed and arranged to be pressed into interlocking relationship, and provided with restraining means against permanent interlocking so that the fastener can be handled as an assembly with the profiles aligned for interlocking but not interlocked until the means are overridden and the profiles pressed into interlocked relation with one form of the overridable means being a frangible diaphragm across the groove to prevent movement of the rib and in another form a projecting strut which is yieldable with the application of a predetermined force or which is removable to permit the profiles to be moved to fully interlocked position.
