  • Patent number: 5301398
Abstract: A primarily plastic cadaver container is molded in the form of caskets, coffins, sarcophagues, mummy shaped containers, etc., produced from primarily plastic and other materials. While all the plastic can be new virgin plastic in most instances it can, advantageously, be reclaimed plastic even chemically contaminated plastic except for some medically contaminated and/or radioactive plastic material. The containers may be clear or opaque and have various designs included and have see through windows making opening of the container containing a body unnecessary, and the containers can be made air tight such that neither air or gas enter or escape a container. Non porous glass sheets or glass matting is used as a liner in a sealed container with a further inner liner of plastic useable to protect the inner surface of the glass sheets or glass matting used thereon.

  • Patent number: 5301399
Abstract: It is desired to detect and to compensate position errors occurring during the manufacture of a web consisting of a multilayer non-woven fabric by means of a laying machine, in which a web consisting of a monolayer non-woven fabric is supplied to a conveyor belt transversely to the direction of travel of said belt and is laid onto said belt by a reciprocating motion to form a multilayer web. For that purpose, the measured value signal is analyzed by machine, preferably by a Fourier transformations for errors consisting of periodically occurring fluctuations of the signal amplitude and the velocity of the conveyor belt and/or the velocity at which the monolayer non-woven web is supplied and/or the width in which the monolayer non-woven web is supplied and/or the width in which the non-woven web is laid onto the delivering belt are automatically controlled to minimize the periodic fluctuations of the signal amplitude.

  • Patent number: 5301400
Abstract: A three-dimensional non-woven fabric with a thermally activated adhesive surface well suited for use as a facing fabric for covering a fibrous mat. The fabric comprises two adjoining fiber layers, namely an adhesive layer including bond-forming fibers fusible at a predetermined temperature and a facing layer of fibers having a considerably higher melting temperature than the bond-forming fibers. The fibers of both layers are mechanically engaged one with another and are arranged flat-wise in bundles interconnected at junctures by protuberant fiber packings disposed in a staggered relationship throughout the fabric. Bond-forming fibers are concentrated in the apex portions of the fiber packings to form the thermally activated adhesive surface. The invention also extends to a process for manufacturing the three-dimensional non-woven fabric, based on the so-called "rosebud" technique for producing foraminous webs.

  • Patent number: 5301403
Abstract: The method according to the invention enables thin metal parts (10), in particular metal foil, to be produced from a reactive metal by means of hot forming. The reactive metal is embedded in a capsule (11), which consists of a second, plastically deformable metal, and release agents consisting of powder particles. The parting agents between the capsule wall and the reactive metal are applied in at least two layers (12, 13), preferably as an aqueous dispersion. The powder particles (e.g. boron nitride) of a first layer (13) which is applied to the reactive metal form an essentially more compact packing than the powder particles (e.g. calcium fluoride) of a second layer (12). The release agent of the second layer is plastically deformable or fluid in a highly viscous manner during the hot forming process. The novel method is less expensive than known methods in which the parting agent is applied by a thermal spraying process.

  • Patent number: 5301415
Abstract: A method for forming a three-dimensional object by applying segments of complementary material and deposition material so as to form layers of material. Selected segments of material are then shaped after one or more segment is formed. In this manner, layers of material form a block containing the object made of deposition material and surrounded by complementary material. Then, the complementary material which serves as a support structure during forming is removed. Preferably, the complementary material has a lower melting temperature than the deposition material and is removed by heating the block. The deposition material and complementary material are preferably applied by thermal spray deposition but may be applied by weld deposition, liquid slurry, gravity drop or any manual means such as a hand sifter. It is also preferred but not necessary to use masks when applying the material.

Abstract: A powered tool removes moldings or other mounted item without imparting damage to the surface being worked upon. The tool has a blade affixed to a handle. The handle and blade are interdigitated so as to form a flat surface along the bottom of the tool. This smooth, flat surface allows the tool to be deployed upon the surface and the blade then slid underneath the molding, such that, by a pneumatic force or other power supplied thereto, the tool easily lifts the molding away from the surface. The tool's cutting portion, including both cutting edges are coated with a refractory material.

  • Patent number: 5301432
Abstract: A ring blade for cutting or for defensive purposes comprises a ring with a top section and a movable crown member mounted in this top section. The ring is adapted for placement on a person's finger. The crown member has an elongate slot formed therein and a blade member is arranged in this slot. First and second pin members are provided to pivot the blade member from a retracted position where the blade is located in the slot to an extended position where the blade is exposed. The blade member is connected to the top section by one of the pin members and it is connected to the crown member by the other pin member. Movement of the crown member towards the top section causes the pin members to pivot the blade member to the extended position. Preferably the top section has a V-shaped cavity and the crown member is also V-shaped so as to fit inside this cavity.

  • Patent number: 5301435
Abstract: A prism assembly and sighting target which are omni-directional in azimuth and which provide a plurality of prisms dispersed symmetrically around the radial wall of a cylinder for reflecting incident laser light from any direction over 360 degrees in azimuth. A uniquely shaped sighting target for use with the prism assembly of the invention provides a visible target pattern from any direction over 360 degrees in azimuth. A cylindrical housing portion of the invention provides receptacles for receiving six prisms spaced at 60 degree intervals so that irrespective of the angle of azimuth from which the laser light is incident, a sufficient amount of light energy is reflected back to the laser light instrument to permit distance measuring over a pre-selected minimum distance.

  • Patent number: 5301436
Abstract: A fixture for measuring runout in firearm cartridges, casings and bullets is provided. The fixture holds the cartridge at the tip and forward of the rim for rotation. A self centering tip bearing holds the tip of the cartridge, casing or bullet for rotation about an axis of rotation. The exterior surface of the cartridge, casing or bullet is supported in a V-shaped knife edge bearing. The distance from the knife edge bearing to the tip bearing is adjustable to accommodate various cartridge sizes. Interchangeable tip bearing tools are provided for rotatably holding bullets and casings, and for locating areas of variation in the thickness of the casing wall. The thickness indicating tool has a flat surface offset from the cartridge axis, which rests against the curved interior surface of a casing, forming a chord which supports the interior surface at two points. The gauge arm, placed on the outside of the casing between the two points, can then measure the relative thickness of the casing wall.

  • Patent number: 5301441
Abstract: A boot for recreational exercise which is equipped with a pneumatic ball spring. The ball is configured as a first semi-ovoid segment and a second smaller semi-ovoid segment which intersect at a minimum dimension. This minimum dimension receives an inwardly directed ledge which is captured by the fully inflated ball to secure the ball to its retainer. The retainer is in turn, secured to the bottom of the boot platform by adjustable dovetail members to permit the ball to be adjusted under the center of gravity of the wearer. The platform has a clamshell attaching member which secures a portion of the boot's weight to the calf of the wearer. The clamshell mechanism limits rotation about the ankle to .+-.15.degree. and restricts rotation of the foot about the axis of the leg and foot to reduce the potential of injury to the wearer.
