Patent number: RE34637Abstract: A method of actuating a safety device for vehicle occupants, wherein the safety device has several tripping devices coupled to a capacitor and to passenger restraint devices, such as air bags, seat belts, or the like. The energy supplied by the capacitor to a tripping device is measured upon actuation of that device. If the energy supplied exceeds a predetermined limit, the flow of electric current from the capacitor to the respective tripping device is interrupted. Thus, if an actuated tripping device shunts, the energy of the capacitor is not drained by the shunt, and the capacitor maintains an energy level sufficient to actuate the other tripping devices.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1992Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Wilfried Burger, Werner Nitschke, Peter Taufer, Hugo Weller

Patent number: 5319809Abstract: An improved dual mode flush mechanism which provides the selection of either a full flush or a partial flush mode, by manipulating one flush control handle. A full flush is obtained by pushing the handle downward, in the conventional manner, which rotates an actuating lever upward to engage and lift a flush valve lift arm to fully open the flush valve. A partial flush is obtained by lifting the flush handle upward, which rotates the actuating lever downward engaging and rotating one end of a double cam downward, causing the opposite end to pivot upward, which engages and lifts the flush valve lift arm, to a limiting stop position, to partially open the flush valve. Releasing the flush handle causes the flush valve to immediately close, allowing a minimum amount of flushing water for light liquid waste. The flush handle can be held upward against the stop position for a longer time, to allow more flushing water as may be required for darker liquid waste, while still using less water than a full flush.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Ernest J. Testa

Patent number: 5319814Abstract: A bedding structure, including an innerspring mattress and a padded cover (enclosing the mattress) which provides added postural support (as well as extra thermal insulation and padding). The padded cover includes a sheet of convoluted foam which covers essentially the full length of the mattress. This sheet of convoluted foam is stiffened, over the middle part of the mattress length, by a complementary piece of convoluted foam which is mated with it. The increase in thickness caused by having two pieces of convoluted foam face-to-face is relatively small. Thus, this arrangement provides extra firmness under the torso, while maintaining an essentially flat upper surface. This cover structure can be retrofitted to existing innerspring mattresses.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1992Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Charles D. Dyer, Jr.

Patent number: 5319828Abstract: A floor scrubbing machine for tile and other hard surface floors has a low enough profile height that it can be operated bodily under furniture or equipment such as, for example, seats in fast food stores. This floor scrubber has three principle functioning components, comprising a tank for cleaning solution and means to apply that solution to the floor, a powered scrub brush to agitate the solution on the floor, and a vacuum pickup squeegee system which dries the floor after scrubbing by removing spent solution from the floor to an on board tank. Floor scrubbers are known which comprise the three above elements, but are too tall to operate under the seats of fast food stores, except with a remote wand attachment which is cumbersome and slow. Other floor scrubbers are known which are low enough to operate bodily in such places but lack a vacuum pickup squeegee system for drying the floor, and leave a hard surface floor unacceptably wet, or require following operations to dry it.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1992Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Tennant CompanyInventors: Steven J.
