Patent number: 5319831Abstract: A fiber crimping apparatus is disclosed which has an internally contacting type nip roller which consists of a ring roller and an inscribed roller rotating together in the same direction at the same speed. The apparatus is provided with a control groove formed on the surfaces of the ring roller and/or the inscribed roller holding the fiber bundle between them and which controls the thickness in the transverse direction of the fiber bundle to be crimped. As the fiber bundle in the nip zone is controlled in the transverse direction, the constriction of the fiber bundle is produced evenly in full width and the crimping process produces even waves and the apparatus is operated stably.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Takehara Kikai KenkyushoInventor: Katsuomi Takehara

Patent number: 5319842Abstract: A machine is disclosed for inserting terminals into cavities of a bobbin to terminate the ends of electrical windings. The machine includes a shear mechanism that separates the terminals from the carrier strip and then guides the terminals during insertion thereof. The shear mechanism includes a pair of links that form a toggle having a center pivot that is attached to the piston rod of an air cylinder. Movement of the toggle links in turn moves a pivoting lever that causes the shear blades to reciprocate. As the piston rod is made to extend, the links straighten and then pass center a small amount until a stop setscrew is engaged. As the links straighten the shear blades enter the die and sever the segments of carrier strip from the terminals. As the links pass over center the shear blade is partially withdrawn so that it clears features projecting from the sides of the terminals while a guide portion of the blade remains in guiding engagement with the severed terminals during insertion thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Richard A. Patent number: 5319847Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning the leads of integrated circuit devices having a plurality of sequential stations. The flat device packages have rows of J-shaped leads along the edges. Individual devices are picked up at an input station and moved to a precising nest where the device is accurately located. The device is moved, preferably by a vacuum chuck transport mechanism, to a first conditioning station where a precising bar adjusts lead spread, then a needle is inserted through the row of leads to adjust lead standoff. A coining die reforms the "J" configuration and establishes a precisely uniform seating plane for all leads. A combing blade arrangement then establishes the lead spacing and lead sweep. After leads along two opposite sides of the device are conditioned, the device is moved to a second conditioning station (if required) where these operations are repeated on the other two sides of the device.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Integrated ConceptsInventors: Roy A. Patent number: 5319852Abstract: A holder for a safety razor is presented which also contains a sponge reservoir. The sponge reservoir is at one end of the holder and contains lubricating fluids within the sponge and reservoir. At the other end of the safety razor holder is a handle end which is slotted. A safety razor is placed in the holder by placing the razor blade head end in the sponge reservoir and the razor handle into the holder handle slot. When the blade of the safety razor is pressed into the lubricating sponge, the fluid keeps the blade relatively free of the corrosive effects of oxidation of the air, debris from shaving or other dulling factors. The blade may be lubricated by pressing it against the lubricated sponge as needed. The effect of using the safety razor holder is to keep blades sharper, to provide smoother and more comfortable shaves, and to allow the user to apply an appropriate amount of lubricating or softening oils to the razor blade.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: David A. Patent number: 5319857Abstract: A simple miter guide uses planar sheet material to define an overlay panel, a saw guiderail and depending lumber guides and spacers which orient the lumber at a predetermined angle relative to the saw blade and space the guide over an underlying surface. The guide is designed specifically for construction lumber such as two-by-fours and two-by-sixes, and is used by placing the guide on a flat surface, and feeding the lumber into the guide from the back until it is properly aligned for the saw cut. The guide and lumber can be aligned to establish an orthogonal square-cut, or an angle-cut such as 45 degrees. A saw guiderail guides the end of the saw foot as it moves across the saw support raceway, spacing the sawblade adequately from the guide to prevent damage, and permitting an angled undercut to be made. Means to mount the guide to an underlying surface are provided, although unmounted operation is useful too.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Joseph P. Flajole

Patent number: 5319861Abstract: A drying method and a device each employ a specific range of infrared radiation which has a high transmissivity relative to a coated layer formed on a metal substrate and a high absorptivity relative to the substrate. The energy transmitted through the coated layer is absorbed in the substrate and changed into heating energy to heat the substrate surface. The backsurface of the coated layer is also heated and solidified. The surface of the coated layer is solidified at the termination of the drying process so that surface is not injured by evaporation of solvent from the coated layer. A combination of infrared radiation and a blow of hot air ensures that the coated layer will not experience irregular heating which helps to prevent the generation of pin holes in the coated layer and shortens the drying period. The blowing direction is oriented in the same or at right angles to the infrared radiation.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1991Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Setsuo Tate

The brackets each also define transverse slot capable of registry with at least one transverse slot of the stanchion received in the longitudinal aperture. First removable cross bar extend through the transverse slot of each bracket and the transverse slot or slots of the stanchion received in each bracket. Extension spring may be provided to connect a banner to each stanchion to assist in wind resistance of the banner.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1992Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Harvey I. Patent number: 5319873Abstract: A fishing net is suspended from a corkline. A monofilament line is formed into three loops which are clamped together. The first of these three loops forms a knot around the corkline and the other two loops weave through the fishing net to hold it in place. The first loop is wound around the corkline in one angular direction for about one turn. It then crosses the portion of the first loop that is below the corkline. It then again passes around the corkline but in an angular direction opposite said one direction. Afterward, a limited portion of the loop that was wrapped around the corkline is free. The other loops are then passed through this free limited portion and the knot it tightened.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: William R. Krager

Patent number: 5319874Abstract: The invention is a soft sided carrying case for fishing poles. The case has a handle made out of polypropolene webbing and a zipper for opening and closing. The case on the inside has straps or tie downs for holding the fishing poles in place. These straps or tie downs are fasten permanently on one end and on the other end have a releasably fastener such as velcro, buttons or snaps. The fishing poles are placed in the case and the tie downs are ran over 7 the fishing poles and are fasten down by the releasable fastener. In the preferred embodiment the inter and outer covering of the case is nylon. Foam is placed between the inter and outer covering of the case. To provide stiffness to a case a masonite board is also added to the foam and stuffing between the inter and outer covering on the top and bottom of the case.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Inventor: Vonley D.
