  • Patent number: 5325548
Abstract: A sink for washing tie-stall dairy farm milk pipeline systems includes a narrow trough at the bottom of the sink. The trough receives the inflations of milking machines placed in the sink for washing. The sides of the trough confine and constrain the inflations so that the machine does not tip over while in the sink. The water level remaining in the sink when the pipeline system is flushed through therefore can be small, leading to water savings of up to 30%. The trough is made from stainless steel sheets, bent to shape; the sides of the sink extend outwards and outwards from the trough at an angle, whereby the sink sides guide the inflations into the trough as the farmer lowers the milking machine into the sink.

  • Patent number: 5325554
Abstract: A retaining system holds sheet material smooth and flat upon a mattress against the movements of a bed occupant. Opposing edges of the sheet are provided with hems for removably receiving elongate rigid slats or battens. At the midpoint of each batten is an attaching means. An aperture in each hem provides access to the attaching means. A flaccid cord or tape assembly is passed beneath the mattress. The cord is provided at its ends with connectors for connection to the attaching means on the battens. The cord is pulled taut and held under tension. This pulls the battens down along the sides of the mattress and holds the sheet smooth and taut against the mattress.

  • Patent number: 5325556
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and process for precisely measuring the position of a deflector blade. When patterned dyeing a moving textile web wherein continuously flowing streams of liquid normally directed in paths to impinge upon the web are selectively deflected from contact with the web in accordance with pattern information then each continuously flowing liquid stream is selectively deflected by a stream of air which is discharged, in accordance with pattern information, from an air outlet located adjacent each liquid discharge outlet. The air outlet is positioned to direct the air stream into intersecting relation with the liquid stream and to deflect the liquid into a collection chamber or trough for recirculation.

  • Patent number: 5325557
Abstract: A portable, demountable bridge to ford rivers and the like, includes a pair of footings for supporting the bridge buried at different heights in the soil on one side of the river. The footing closer to the river receives a load in a downward direction, and the footing further from the river resists an upward force produced by the weight of the bridge and objects on the bridge. Soil located over this further footing acts as a counterweight of the bridge. At least two bridge supporting units are located over the footing closer to the river. Preferably each supporting unit includes two support tubes. A removable first bracket is fixed to each supporting unit, and a second bracket is connected to the first bracket. The panels forming a roadway track for the bridge are connected to the second bracket via a first elongated support. • Patent number: 5325560
Abstract: A toothbrush for use by wearers of orthodontic appliances comprises an elongated handle, a neck and a head. The bristles are designed so that the outermost rows are relatively soft and of long length, the bristles in the pattern gradually shortening in length and becoming stiffer, with the shortest and stiffest bristles being positioned along the center rows of the brush's longitudinal centerline axis. Also, the center rows of bristles are formed to be angled at their ends to reduce the pressure required to deflect the bristles beneath brace elements thus reducing undue pressure against the gums. Furthermore, a flexible member compressibly supports the center rows of bristles. The toothbrush also comprises an outer bumper protectively surrounding the toothbrush head. Moreover, a further embodiment of the invention has a lower tuft of bristles projecting from the lower portion of the handle.

  • Patent number: 5325564
Abstract: A curved elongate backbone for a windscreen wiper has a loading profile that increases substantially from a central connector towards one or both ends of the backbone. The second differential of the bending moment also increases substantially from the connector towards the ends. The loading may increase right to the ends of the backbone or the backbone may have end portions with constant loading. In order to obtain the desired loading profile the width, thickness and free-form radius of curvature are suitably selected. In preferred embodiments, the backbone has a rectangular cross-sectional profile and the thickness and width decrease uniformly from the connector to the ends. A movable roof member is mounted on the roof opening sections so as to be movable longitudinally through a base frame fixed to the body of a vehicle, thereby opening the roof opening sections when the movable roof member is moved in its rear position and closing it when it is moved in its front position. The base frame contains a front section to be mounted to a front header of the body, a rear section to be mounted to a front edge portion of a rear roof panel section, a middle section for connecting middle portions of the front section and the rear section, and a guide section extending rearward from a transversely outer side portion of the rear section.

Abstract: A double row, angular contact ball bearing comprised of an integral inner race ring and an integral outer race ring, the outer race ring having at least one circumferential depressing between the rows of balls and the inner race ring having a circumferentially radially extending end member axially outside each row of balls. The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing double row, angular contact ball bearings by shaping sheet metal or tubular work pieces to finished inner or outer race rings by rolling, pressing or deep drawing, introducing rows of balls between the race rings, shaping the race rings to final form by rolling or pressing, and rolling the rows of balls constantly about the circumferential periphery of the inner race ring during the rolling or pressing of the race rings.

Abstract: A hair clipper has a cutter head on the front end of a housing. The cutter head includes a toothed stationary blade and a toothed movable blade reciprocating on the stationary blade in hair shearing engagement between individual toothed edges thereof. The toothed edge of the stationary blade is tapered to have a thickness narrower toward its leading edge along an edgewise direction thereof. The stationary blade is slidable in a direction perpendicular to the reciprocating direction thereof, for varying a cut length of the hairs to be sheared between the movable and stationary blades. An adjustor handle is slidably mounted on the housing and linked to the movable blade for effecting the sliding movement thereof. A latch is provided to latch the adjustor handle in position for fixing the cut length. A release knob projects on a portion of the handle to be accessible by a finger of the user manipulating the handle.

  • Patent number: 5325594
Abstract: A hand-operated tool for cutting fibrous compressible insulation batts, and similar fibrous compressible materials. The tool, includes an elongated cutter blade housing, and a planar sheet of plexiglass, bent into a "C"-shaped configuration. End portions of the "C"-shaped plexiglass sheet fit over the ends of the cutter blade housing, so that the "C"-shaped sheet forms a presser element for the insulation batt, when placed on the top surface thereof. When the cutter blade is drawn through the batt material, the presser element compresses the material into a relatively small thickness, so that the cutter blade is enabled to completely penetrate the batt material. An insulation batt, therefore, can be neatly and completely severed, with one pass of the cutting tool.
