  • Patent number: 5335588
Abstract: A device is disclosed for the preparation of milk froth for cappuccino (milk-coffee beverage) to be employed as an accessory to coffee or espresso makers or steam preparation machines equipped with a superheated steam generator and a steam pipe. A venturi is disposed at the outlet end of the steam pipe and has an associated air intake conduit and a milk intake conduit that are arranged in such a way that the outlet opening of the air intake conduit and the outlet opening of the milk intake conduit open in the venturi in the zone of greatest subatmospheric pressure. Due to the subatmospheric pressure created in the venturi by the flowing steam, air and milk are sucked in and mixed with the superheated steam in the diffusion path of the venturi. Thus the three-component mixture of steam, air and milk required for the generation of milk froth is created already in the venturi and the desired milk froth is available at the outlet of the venturi.

Abstract: A coating apparatus for use in a sheet-fed or web-fed, offset rotary or flexographic printing press to apply a protective and/or decorative coating to the surface of freshly printed sheets includes a doctor blade coating unit coupled to a pickup roller for supplying liquid material from a reservoir to the surface of a pickup roller mounted on a press delivery drive shaft. Liquid material is circulated through the reservoir of the doctor blade unit by suction flow produced by a return pump. This prevents the buildup of a positive pressure differential within the doctor blade reservoir. The doctor blade reservoir is maintained at below ambient pressure level, thereby preventing leakage through the end seals. A vacuum sensor circuit provides a visual indication of air vacuum pressure in the doctor blade reservoir chamber, and a vacuum sensor switch applies electrical power to an audio transducer.

  • Patent number: 5335598
Abstract: First and second ganged switches having first and second operative relationships are normally operative in the first relationship and are actuated by an external mechanism to the second relationship. In the first relationship, the first switch shunts and short circuits a pyrotechnic device and the second switch shunts and short circuits an energy storage member such as a capacitor. In the second operative relationship of the second switch, a battery charges the capacitor and also introduces a starting signal to an electronic timing circuit to institute a timing sequencer by the circuit for a pre-selected period that is selected via a series of inputs to the electronic timer. When the pre-selected time period has been timed out, the timing circuit introduces a signal to a solid state electronic switch which is normally in a non-conductive state to prevent actuation. The signal from the timing circuit causes the electronic switch to provide a low impedance.
