A sensor arrangement provides an electrical signal indicative of the relative vertical positions of the patient litter and base, and a manual drive arrangement is provided to permit the gear train to be manually driven.

    Abstract: An easily manufactured and inexpensive window cleaning device has identical upper and lower plates forming a head for receiving a sponge and a squeegee on opposite sides. The upper and lower plates have a horizontal section and opposite longitudinal edges. A radial clamping section of each plate is disposed at one longitudinal edge for clamping to the sponge. An L-shaped shoulder is disposed at the opposite edge, for engaging a complementarily shaped foundation spline of the squeegee, from which the blade of the squeegee protrudes. The two plates are of identical shape, being placed in mirror image position when attached together, for example using rivets that also attach a stem for receiving a handle. The sponge is secured within the radial sponge clamping section without the need of an internal stiffener, and the squeegee blade is oriented to an advantageous angle by the channel formed by the opposing L-shaped shoulders.

The novel ridge portion of the handle permits the lobby dust pan to easily be carried over the arm of the user when moving from job to job, thus freeing the hands for other purposes. A low voltage power signal is transmitted through the vacuum cleaner hose and to the remote control handle for the purpose of providing electrical current to power the central vacuum system. The sensor will also notify the consumer if the vacuum cleaner has a full bag or a problem at the vacuum unit, such as a clogged screen.

    Abstract: A method for making an anti-skid apparatus for an automobile tire includes coating a plurality of core materials with rubber to form a plurality of cords; placing the cords in grooves of a preliminary molding plate and knitting the cords to form a net body; molding the cord into a non-vulcanized net body which inherently possesses crossing sections-where one of the plurality of cords lies on top of another of the plurality of cords; pressing the crossing sections so as to cause the core materials at the crossing sections to become linearly aligned; and vulcanizing the pressed non-vulcanized anti-skid net bodies to form a vulcanized net body. The step of pressing the crossing sections temporarily fixes the respective cords to each other at respective crossing sections. Also, affixing elements are attached to the vulcanized net body to detachably secure the vulcanized net body to an automobile tire.

    Abstract: A tubular shaft has a portion of reduced inner diameter at a location where joining to an apertured member is desired.     Abstract: A knife blade and knife blade assembly are disclosed for cutting food products into sticks or slices without causing surface cracking. The knife blade has a cutting portion defining a cutting edge and is mounted in the knife assembly such that a tension force is exerted on the knife blade in the plane of the cutting edge. The cutting edge of the knife blade is not sharp, but is generally flat and extends between parallel sides of the knife blade. The individual knife blades are formed of stainless steel and are electro-polished to remove any surface defects or sharp edges which may produce stress concentrations. This enables a significant tension force to be applied to the knife blade without diminishing its useful life. The electro-polishing process may also round off the corners of the juncture between the flat cutting edge and the parallel knife blade sides.
