  • Patent number: 5343676
Abstract: In a device for recognizing ferromagnetic foreign bodies, for protecting the working members of a harvesting machine, having a magnetic field generating device (9), the lines of flux of which run transversely to the direction of transport, and having assigned pick-up coils (15; 16; 17), it is intended to improve the recognition range across the entire width of the feed system, whilst keeping costs low. At the same time, it is intended better to suppress disturbance signals. For this purpose, the magnetic field generating device (9) comprises an odd number of magnetic poles (12; 13; 14), the two outer magnetic poles (13; 14) possessing the same polarity. At least every second magnetic pole (12) is enclosed by a pick-up coil (15). Expediently, three magnetic poles (12; 13; 14) are present, which are all enclosed by a pick-up coil (15; 16; 17) each. The pick-up coils (15; 16; 17) are connected up such that the induced voltages are added together.

  • Patent number: 5343677
Abstract: A system for mounting row units on an agricultural implement suited for movement across a field. The mounting system comprises a row unit support frame connected to the agricultural implement. The row unit support frame includes a generally horizontal elongated bar on which the row units are individually mounted in laterally adjacent relation relative to each other and such that the row units are prevented from moving fore-and-aft relative to the frame. At least one of the row units is mounted for lateral movement along the bar and relative to the adjacent row unit. An actuator is provided for effecting powered lateral movement of the row unit along the length of the bar. Each actuator is operated under the influence of a sensor which monitors the lateral position of the respective row unit relative to a desirable path on the field and controls operation of the respective actuator to generally align the movable row unit relative to the desirable path.

  • Patent number: 5343679
Abstract: Apparatus for picking up leaves and other loose material from a lawn or other surface and compacting such material in a bag for disposal. As in prior art apparatus of this type, the material is propelled by a rotating paddle wheel into the forward section of a housing, and from a rear housing section to an auger compactor which feeds the material into a bag positioned upon and against side and end support walls. In the present apparatus, better compaction is achieved by inhibiting rotation of the material within the bag due to rotation imparted by the auger. This action is provided by protrusions on the end and side walls of the support walls which indent the flexible bag as it is filled. As a further safety feature, a skirt carrying pivoted obstruction members prevents objects from being propelled forwardly of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5343681
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutter blade for use on a rotary cutter of the tractor drawn type. Rotary cutters of this type usually have three or four cutter blades rotatably mounted on a blade carrier that can be rotated to induce cutter blade rotation and thereby permit cutting of grass. The cutter blade of the invention has a curved cutting edge with the section including the cutting edge being off-set with respect to the section whereby the blade is mounted on its blade carrier. The use of such cutter blades on a rotary cutter improves cutting efficiency, provides for an increased blade life and reduces the power requirements of the rotary cutter with which the blades are associated.

  • Patent number: 5343717
Abstract: A refrigerator is provided with a refrigerating unit in the form of an apparatus having at least one pair of containers, where each pair includes a first and a second container (18 and 20, respectively) communicating with each other through a pipe (22). Each container contains a substance which, when being heated, gives off a gaseous working medium and, when being cooled, absorbs the gaseous working medium. The first container (18) is arranged to be heated from the storage compartment (16) of the refrigerator, which compartment thereby is cooled. The second container (20) is provided with a heater (34). Each container is provided with an arrangement for, when need arises, conducting heat away from the respective container, which arrangement includes a cooling circuit (26, 28, 30, 32 and 36, 38, 30, 32, respectively), in which a pump (26, 36) brings a cooling liquid to cool the respective container. The liquid is cooled in a radiator (32) arranged on the refrigerator.

  • Patent number: 5343719
Abstract: The invention hereby provides a novel flat knitting machine which is furnished with a pair of needle beds in the front and rear positions each having a plurality of knitting needles aligned in parallel in such a condition in which respective knitting needles face each other, where a loop expanding member is provided on a lateral surface of each knitting needle. When transferring a loop from a delivery-side knitting needle engaged with this loop to an opposite receiving-side knitting needle, the receiving-side knitting needle is carried forward before the loop engaged with the delivery-side knitting needle is expandably opened by the loop expanding member, and then, the receiving-side knitting needle receives the loop in order that the loop engaged with the delivery-side knitting needle can properly be transferred to the loop expanding member from a hook of the delivery-side knitting needle. Next, the loop expanding member expandably opens the loop engaged with the delivery-side knitting needle.

  • Patent number: 5343720
Abstract: A loss-prevention device which operates by filling the hole of a lunette eye with a steel two-piece cylinder spool containing a barrel lock. Horizontal separation of the two pieces allows for the vertical removal from the lunette eye. When connected within the lunette eye, the device prevents attachment of the lunette eye's corresponding pentel hook and subsequent towing, hence, the name NO-TOW. This device can be manufactured in three sizes to accomodate the three sizes of lunette eye connectors currently in use.

  • Patent number: 5343721
Abstract: A device is disclosed for locking the key ignition of a vehicle. The device includes braided cables encased in neoprene rubber, and a recess is provided at the midpoint of the length of these cables. A locking housing is basically cylindrical in shape and includes a combination lock in its center section while the ends of the housing are flared angularly outward and have two through holes which serve as receptacles for the cables. Finally, ratchet-like teeth are arranged along the length of the cable, and two spring loaded engagement levers are located in the cable receptacles within the housing. The cables fit around the steering column of a vehicle with the recess placed over the key ignition. The locking housing receives the cables in the through holes and is locked in place by the combination lock.

  • Patent number: 5343723
Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a kicker arm-pawl lock mechanism rotates a number one wheel of a combination lock a predetermined distance to require resetting each number of a combination during lock manipulation. A drive cam-travel arm and bolt lock mechanism assures complete scrambling of the combination by requiring rotation of all wheels prior to bolt extension into a locked position. Another aspect of the invention includes a lock lever and drive cam mechanism which requires opening of the combination lock once a combination has been correctly dialed. A lock lever and pivoting pawl lock mechanism prevents lockout conditions by diverting forces applied to the combination lock bolt to the lock casing rather than the lock lever.
