  • Patent number: 5359736
Abstract: A bidet device useable with a toilet has a nozzle (82) which supplies water in an accurate confined spray to the anal or genital area followed by air blown through the same nozzle so as to dry the wetted areas. Both water and air are electrically heated in unit (12) under thermostatic control. A hand grip (60) is used to slide spray conduit (62) and nozzle (82) from a storage position under the lop of the toilet bowl to an appropriate longitudinal position. Switch (52) is then used to control a low voltage circuit which energizes solenoid valves for the alternate supply of water and air. The unit will not operate unless both microswitch (80) [activated by cam (78)] and a pressure switch responding to the user's weight, are closed. In alternative arrangements the spray assembly is carried on an arm turning on a vertical pivot attached to the toilet pedestal or it forms part of a hand-held wand having no attachment to the toilet pedestal.

  • Patent number: 5359738
Abstract: A device for wetting toilet tissue comprising a small, enclosed reservoir fitted with air vents, a finger actuated valve lever, an inlet and outlet orifice and a water flow controlling valve. The device attaches to a bracket that is secured at the other end to the upper toilet bowl flange by one of the toilet seat mounting screws and nuts, positioning the device under the water closet tank and protruding slightly forward. The water is supplied via a small plastic flexible tubing connected to a tubular "T" that is installed between the water closet overflow pipe and the orifice nozzle that is part of the water closet filling ballcock valve. Water flows into the small capacity reservoir whenever the toilet is flushed. To minimize having cold water replacing the ambient-air warmed water in the reservoir, a float actuating lever closes the input orifice when the reservoir is full. A venting orifice allows the release of air being displaced by the inflowing water.

  • Patent number: 5359750
Abstract: A control device for use on film cleaners that remove dust, lint and static charge from plastic film surfaces by the use of high velocity ionized air. The high velocity ionized air removes static charge from the film simultaneously as the dust and lint are blown from the surface of the film by the convective action of the air. The control device is automatically activated when film is inserted between two sets of intersecting conductive fibers, thereby breaking the contact between the two sets of conductive fibers. In addition, the control device can be switched between a constant mode, where the air is on continuously, to a pulse mode where the air is pulsed alternately on and off, in a periodic manner, to synchronize the cleaning action with the stop and go advance of an automatic film printer system. The intersecting fibers also prevent the film from being drawn into the air inlets by the "Bernoulli Effect".

  • Patent number: 5359760
Abstract: An improved method for fabrication of a multiple-element piezoelectric transducer and the transducer produced thereby. A green precursor tape is produced by doctor-blade tape-casting of a slurry containing lead zirconate-titanate (PZT) powder. After drying, individual strips of the tape are stacked between flat plates of previously sintered PZT, and sintered to form PZT strips; Pb from the previously sintered PZT plates makes up any Pb lost from the surfaces of the tape strips during sintering. The PZT strips are stacked interposed by layers of a thermoplastic polymer, and heated to a temperature above the melting point of the polymer, forming a laminate block. This block is then sliced perpendicular to the plane of the layers, forming slabs of alternate PZT and polymer layers; the slabs are then sliced perpendicular to the first slicing planes, forming strips of alternating PZT and polymer material. Electrodes are then added to complete the transducer assembly.

Abstract: A method of making a multilayered circuit board wherein at least two layered subassemblies, each comprising a dielectric layer and at least one conductive layer therein, are bonded together. Each subassembly includes a through-hole extending therethrough which is aligned with a respective through-hole of the other prior to bonding. The subassemblies are compressed at a predetermined pressure (e.g., 300 psi) and then heated to a first temperature (e.g., 300.degree. C.) for an established time period, resulting in formation of a bond between the two through-holes. The resulting alloy formed from this bond possesses a melting point significantly greater than that of the subassembly dielectric (e.g., PTFE). Following this time period, the compressed subassemblies are heated to an even greater temperature (e.g., 380.degree. C.), again for an established time period, to assure dielectric flow. The subassembly is then cooled and the pressure removed.

  • Patent number: 5359772
Abstract: The present invention relates to a roll, comprising cemented carbide and cast iron, and a method for manufacture of the same. The roll may be used for hot or cold rolling. The barrel comprises one or several cemented carbide rings, east by centrifugal casting method into a roll body of an iron alloy. The casting alloy comprises an essentially graphitic east iron, which after the casting contains residual austenitc. This residual austenitc is transformed at subsequent heat treatment step (or steps) totally or partly to mainly bainite under volume increase, with the aim of reducing or totally eliminating the differential shrinkage between the east iron and the cemented carbide as a result from cooling after the casting. The central part of the roll body may alternatively consist of another alloy.

  • Patent number: 5359780
Abstract: The bow sight assembly is provided for use in archery, more particularly for use with a rangefinder, such as a split image rangefinder. The rangefinder is operated by moving a trigger connected to a positioning mechanism of the bow sight assembly until the instrument reads the range between the bow and the target. Simultaneously, a sight arm on which is located the sight pin rotates about a pivot in direct proportion to the movement of a vertical member connected to the rangefinder. In use, the setting of the sight positioning assembly allows the sight arm and its sight pin to be at the appropriate angle when the rangefinder is indicating the actual range between the bow and the target.

  • Patent number: 5359781
Abstract: A self centering guide pipe axis laser guide is based on the use of three parallel links spaced 120 degrees apart which are engaged to be expanded or contracted. When expanded the links contact the inside diameter of the pipe which accordingly establishes the center axis of the pipe. The driving means for the links is a rotating screw mounted in a base centrally located with respect to the three links. In the front of the base is a laser module whose beam is aligned with the center axis of the pipe once the links contact the inner diameter of the pipe. Gauges mounted in a saddle on top of the pipe determine the proper slope once the center axis has been established. A calibrated scale on the guide can be used for determining both inner and outer diameters of the pipe. While the laser guide has been illustrated in determining the center line of pipes, it also has other uses such as aligning pillow blocks to a center line.

  • Patent number: 5359782
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring compound angles. This apparatus makes use of the standard T-bevel square, which is capable of measuring only a single angle. The invention is a compound angle blade with a split collet joint. The compound blade attaches by replacing the bolt of the T-bevel with fastening means attached to the split collet joint of the invention. This fastening means secures both the compound angle blade and the standard T-bevel square blade. The split collet joint which is attached perpendicularly to the main body of the T-bevel moves in a 360 degree radius parallel to the main body of the T-bevel. The compound angle blade is capable of rotation in approximately a 180 degree radius relative to the split collet joint. The combination of the rotation of the split collet joint and the compound angle blade allows for compound angle measurements both perpendicular and askew relative to the angle of the standard T-bevel. The angles of both blades are fixed by the same fastening action.

Abstract: A centering system in a roundness measuring instrument comprises a computing section, a detecting device and a programming device. The computing section seeks an average circle of an article to be measured, a value of eccentricity and a direction of an angle of eccentricity in response to a displacement signal of a forward end element, sets an output signal of a detector so that the position of the detector at the time the measurement element is present on the arc of the average circle becomes zero, and further, calculates only a displacement value of the measurement element in a direction of an X-axis or a Y-axis to the value of eccentricity. The detecting device detects an angle of rotation of an X-Y table in a direction of an angle of eccentricity of the X-axis or the Y-axis.
