All the vertical reinforcement bars of the reinforcement cage are suspended in vertical disposition from the template. Horizontal ties are positioned at selected sides along the length of the reinforcement bars, and are fastened to the vertical reinforcement bars at said sites. In this way, fabrication of the reinforcement cage is completed while the cage is vertically suspended from the template. The reinforcement cage can be fabricated and suspended directly above, and later lowered into, a hole drilled in the earth for a drilled pier foundation.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1992Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Inventor: John M. Patent number: 5359830Abstract: An article clip packaging machine for applying carton members to the article rims of preselected article groups. The machine has a conveyor with an infeed end for receiving preselected article groups. At least two carton member feeding structures are synchronized with the conveyor for placing carton base and carton top members, respectively, on the preselected article groups. A securing assembly attaches the carton base and top members to the rims of the article groups to provide article group carriers.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1992Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: Riverwood International CorporationInventors: Allen L. Patent number: 5359831Abstract: A molded suture retainer is provided for retaining and storing sutures. Both absorbable and nonabsorbable sutures fabricated from natural or synthetic materials can be advantageously retained and stored therein. The retainer is characterized by a wide spiraling oval passageway with minimal convolutions covered by a cover sheet. The length of the passageway is preferably proportional to 1/3 to 1/2 the overall length of the suture to be retained therein. Recesses are provided for receiving package stabilizing agents and/or needle parks. Sutures packaged in accordance with the invention exhibit fewer kinks and bends than prior packaged sutures.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: United States Surgical CorporationInventors: David L. Brown, Henry A. Holzwarth

Patent number: 5359832Abstract: A packaging machine including packaging apparatus to form a chain of connected packages, a cutting station to separate the packages having a controllable variable speed drive, an accumulator between the packaging apparatus and cutting station to accumulate the chain of packages, and control means to vary the speed of operation of the cutting station in response to the accumulation in the accumulator. The accumulator in its preferred form is a conveyor. A unique control device is provided which receives the completed package chain and delivers it for further processing.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1992Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: Cloud CorporationInventors: Donn A. Patent number: 5359833Abstract: A method of cutting pieces of an extruded substance and depositing the pieces on individual wrapping sheets which are being conveyed in the same direction and at the same velocity as the extruded substance is disclosed. The wrapping sheets are fed in an overlapped fashion to the point where the cut off extruded piece is placed onto a wrapping sheet and the conveyor under the sheet onto which the cut piece is being placed is accelerated so that the sheet is disengaged from the overlap with the succeeding sheet immediately before the next cut piece is to be placed onto the next following sheet. An apparatus is disclosed with means necessary for carrying out the method.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: Gerstenberg & Agger, A/SInventor: Per Gronskov

Patent number: 5359834Abstract: A cartonizing machine wherein articles are arranged either individually or in groups in trays passing through a feeding station and to and through a loading station wherein the articles on the successive trays are pushed transversely into respective carton members conveyed with a mutual spacing. The filling of the trays is facilitated when the trays are closely juxtaposed with such being achieved by a tray conveyor system disposed so as to operate with a reduced tray pitch and a tray speed in the feeding station.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: O.G. Patent number: 5359835Abstract: A weed remover for removing weeds and preventing the growth of new weeds on the bed of a body of water. The weed remover comprises a housing a motor, a drive chain, and a roller having a plurality of fins attached thereto. The motor drives the drive chain which in turn rotates the roller. When the roller is rotated, the fins dig into the bed of the body of water, causing the roller to roll along the bed. The housing is attached to a dock such that it can rotate about a generally vertical axis, permitting the roller to roll in an arc. The direction of rotation of the roller can be reversed such that the roller reciprocates over substantially the same path.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: Crary CompanyInventor: David S. Patent number: 5359836Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling an agricultural harvester having a cut crop receiving header coupled to a hydraulic cylinder. The header applies a force against the ground that is adjusted by applying pressure to the cylinder. A first proportional valve is fluidly coupled to the cylinder, and responds to a first input signal by increasing pressure in the cylinder to a setpoint value, when the pressure is less than the setpoint. A second proportional valve is also fluidly coupled to the cylinder, and responds to a second input signal by reducing pressure in the cylinder to the setpoint pressure value, when the pressure is greater than the setpoint. A pressure signal representing cylinder pressure is received. The difference between the measured pressure and the setpoint is used to compute the first and second input signals, which are transmitted to the valves.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: Control Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth W. Zeuner, Thomas A. Chmielewski, Jr., Mark K. Torbett, Carl E. Bohman, Charles P. Heisig

Patent number: 5359837Abstract: An hydraulic elevating mechanism for lifting and lowering an engineering structure which is sluingly supported around a rotational axis on a base unit, has two or more hydraulic lift cylinders pivoted to the base unit at one end and to the engineering structure to be slued at the other. The lift cylinders are controlled by hydraulic control circuits separated from each other and such that at least one of the lift cylinders is connected to a pressure reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Inventors: Gustav Schumacher, Guenter Schumacher
