  • Patent number: 5361425
Abstract: A retainer provides for the prevention of lateral slippage or movement of a toilet seat or a toilet bowl rim. Typically, bowl rims are not uniformly level or even, and conventional bumpers, along with the play generally found in the seat hinges, allow a seat to slip laterally relative to the rim, and occasionally drop slightly as the bumper(s) is/are displaced to one edge of the bowl rim as the seat shifts. The present retainers each include inner and outer depending retainer portions, which serve to prevent lateral displacement of the seat in either direction relative to the rim. Thus, only a single retainer is required, although preferably two are installed on opposite sides of the seat bottom and toward the front of the seat for uniformity. The present retainers include a resilient intermediate portion, which allows the depending retainer portions and member from which they depend, to arcuately rock to accommodate uneven bowl rims. The device(s) may be mechanically or adhesively secured to the seat bottom.

The device comprises a unit provided with super-imposed discs spaced by a distance of the same order as the larger dimension of an at least partially linted cotton seed, the upper disc being fixed and the lower disc being rotary. Seeds are fed through a central opening in the upper disc and subject to friction between the discs as they migrate outwardly to the periphery where they are discharged and the lint removed is expelled from the device by an exhaustor. The lower discs are coated with a relatively rough surfaced rubber-like material and the lower discs are coated with a similar material formed with a plurality of finger-like projections whereby the seeds are subject to coarse friction from the lower disc while their toward migration is controlled by the retaining fingers. The device may have a plurality of such units in series.

Abstract: Machine setting values containing similar functions are grouped together as a group in a setting value table and as many tables, as present groups, are correlated to machine operating elements. Parameter vectors are obtained from each table, effectuating a predetermined machine setting and the totality of the parameter vectors represent (for instance along a diagram axis) settings for the associated operating element. The group formation of setting values for a fine cleaning machine encompasses, for instance, setting values of the knife or carding element-distance from the beater circle, the point density of the carding element, the clamping distance of the feed trough or funnel from the clothing of the opening roller, and the rotational speed of the opening roller. These setting values are grouped together in a first group and included in a first table for forming parameter vectors for the cleaning intensity.

Abstract: A preloadable cord lock for gripping a cord, such as an elastic shock cord, includes a pair of telescoping members having apertures defined therethrough. The telescoping members are biased so that their respective apertures are not aligned. The lock can be preloaded to a condition where the apertures are aligned for feeding a cord through the apertures. The preloading mechanism may then be disengaged which will cause the telescoping members to be urged to a position where their apertures are not aligned by the bias of the device, thereby pinching and locking the cord in place.

Abstract: The basic clip enclosed is a one piece plastic clip formed by an upper and lower face beam having gripping jaws. The face beams are joined together by a shared biasing traverse support member that operates in conjunction with a pivotal locking tip and locking receptacle. Final assembly of the clip is performed by pressing the face beams together which engages the pivotal locking tip with the latching body allowing the jaw elements to lock in a closed position. Continued squeezing of the proximal end portions allows the traverse support member to arc beyond the design angle forcing the jaws into a larger spaced apart position. To prevent stressing and allow shaft mountings, the traverse support member utilizes fingers to provide interference with complete compression. Variations of the transverse support member and clip closure beams are also enclosed.
