  • Patent number: 5617620
Abstract: A snap ring applicator having a pair of scissor arms connected to a pivot element. The snap ring applicator includes a linear activating device connected to a driving element. The driving element contacts the angled activating surface contained on the rear end of the scissor arms. The linear movement of the driving element forces the rear end of the scissor arms together which causes the scissor arms to pivot about a pivot element and thereby separates the front ends of the scissor arms. Contained in each front end of the scissor arms is a snap ring pin, which is sized to engage a snap ring. When the snap ring applicator is activated to move the front ends of the scissor arms apart, the snap ring pins act to expand the inner diameter of the snap ring. When expanded as such, the snap ring can then be passed over the pipe or shaft to which it is to be applied. The snap ring applicator is then deactivated, which returns the snap ring to its original size, thereby securely positioning the snap ring as desired.

Abstract: A punch tool and method for removing one or more wheels from an axle is provided. The punch comprises an elongated member having a first end configured for receiving a nut therein. The first end has an aperture dimensioned to prevent angular rotation between the aperture and the nut. The aperture has an inner periphery with a bore formed therethrough. The bore extends from the aperture towards a second end of the punch. A desired wheel to be removed is located. A plurality of lugs comprising a stud, an inner cap nut, and a nut, secure the wheels to the axle. The first end of the punch is disposed over a nut coupled to a cap nut, for coupling the punch to the nut. The cap nut may extend through the aperture and into the bore. The diameter of the bore prevents the punch from damaging the cap nut. The second end of the punch is struck with a heavy implement. The implement causes force to be applied to the nut from the punch along the longitudinal axis thereof.

  • Patent number: 5617629
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for production of a copper clad, electrically insulated base for printed circuit boards, wherein a foil, of copper, copper alloy, aluminum or aluminum alloy by electroplating on preferably both sides furnished with a 1-35 .mu.m thick unpatterned layer of copper or copper alloy, is under heat and pressure laminated with the copper surfaces facing an electrically insulating, resin containing base. The copper layers are electroplated onto the foil in such a way that the layers after lamination strongly adhere to the insulating base and at the same time exhibit a very poor adhesion to the foil, which easily can be stripped from the copper layers without splitting these. The foil works during the lamination as a mold plate, whereby conventional mold plates can be excluded. The invention also comprises the use of such a copper clad foil as a combined mold plate and base for the copper layers during the lamination.

Abstract: Terminals of a wire harness are sorted for each contact of a unit structure to which the terminals are to be connected. The sorted terminals are temporarily held by a jig in a configuration which matches the arrangement in which they are to be connected to the corresponding contacts. The terminals are arranged in rows in the proper connection arrangement, and are transferred to the contacts and connected in this state. A retainer is then placed in the unit structure containing the connected terminals, thereby holding them in place. It is consequently possible to reduce the frequency of erroneous insertion, and to improve operating performance markedly.
